Re: [Gambas-user] Confusion in Data Types

2009-06-10 Thread KhurramM

Hello All

Thanks for the corrections.

Doriano Blengino I made a mistake, the answer is not

Max value in Float 1.79E+308
Min value in Float 1E+2147483647

But:

Max value in Float 1.79E+308
Min value in Float 1.79E+308

Actually I was playing with values, and so got this output and put it
forward.

Regarding Wrapping, it does not occurs for Single and float, they just
overflow and the interpreter screams for it. The program does not end in
this scenario.

Thanks for all the help.

Thanks a lot : Doriano Blengino and Benoît Minisini :handshake:

It was really informative for me. :working:

I just had a little curiosity in my mind. Its not related to Gambas
directly. I do not have that much programming depth. But anyhow (now its
off-topic)

IS it possible that a C based CRE or CVM just like javas' JRE or JVM, is
made. Then ... would the package installation issue be over in all the
unix-like distros? Is it possible? Is it feasible? But JVM consumes a lot of
ram!

Ron_1st: I think u r now more than right. Cant we install gre(gambas runtime
environment) first. And then install gambas on it. Now anything can be run
via it, just like wine does. Isnt it a better solution. It will not take
850mb space for the package now but only 20mb or around. Also we can then
easily upgrade.

It will not take that much space either. It will not take 850mb space for

Re: [Gambas-user] C Code character manipulation - alternatives

2009-05-22 Thread KhurramM

I made a little bluder, my code:

PUBLIC SUB Main()

   ' Declare AND initialize variables.
   DIM count AS Integer
' The values are initialized at Zero, by above command

   DIM c AS String

' READ , PRINT , AND count characters.
PRINT Enter characters (Ctrl+D to quit):
   LINE INPUT c
   PRINT c
   count += Len(c)
WHILE NOT Eof ' This works excellent
  'PRINT c1
  LINE INPUT c
  count += Len(c)
  PRINT c
   WEND

' PRINT the number OF characters printed.
   PRINT count characters printed.

END

Works as I require it to on CLI gnome-terminal.

It was a mis-print that EOF is not working. In my last post, every thing
works as I want it to.

Regarding Code from Ron_1st:

It has two errors:
1 WHILE (cha \n) works instead of WHILE (cha KEY.Return)
 It doesnt recognise KEY.Return
2 It doesnt gives me the result I need. It moves endlessly.

Ron_1st: If u think my above code needs to be re-adjusted, pls give
suggestion, but it running absolutely fine, just like its C code, above. But
your code needs more examination than that. I am still working on to run it.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help.

Well I again search the same site to find gambas2.12 for my hardy. Thanks a
lot. Still need to try it, yet.

I experimented the file on my testing jaunty:
(see attachment)

To gambas forum: I installed gambas via on jaunty (just for trial). It used
37.5mb total including this gambas file to install the package.
Gambas can be packaged into a plus/minus a little 37.5mb binary installer.
:jumping:

The person who told me it will take a CDs data to make an installer, seems
to quiet wrong, in his assertion. :-)

I am converting the at the end C code to gambas code. But I seem to be
getting nowhere, currently. I am trying. Hope u guide me thru this.

PUBLIC SUB Main()

  PRINT Chr$(c)
  INPUT c
  count += 1
   WEND

' PRINT the number OF characters printed.
PRINT (count - 1) characters printed.

Thanks Sir.

You have given me tips better then the book I am following on C. :working:

My two queries:
1 Can I implement ctrl+D or ^D, which I am not able to here, as in C?
2 The program works with INPUT and LINE INPUT. But Line Input also takes
blank space as input, while INPUT ends the program over here. And I use
string here, but in C it was integer?

--- Just for reference:
Well I made my program final as:

PUBLIC SUB Main()

   ' Declare AND initialize variables.
   DIM c, count AS Integer

   DIM c1 AS String

' READ , PRINT , AND count characters.
PRINT Enter characters (or Press Carriage Return to quit):
   LINE INPUT c1
   count += Len(c1)

WHILE (c1 )' This is the best solution
  PRINT c1
  LINE INPUT c1
  count += Len(c1)
   WEND

' PRINT the number OF characters printed.
   PRINT count characters printed.

END

[Gambas-user] Feature Request - Package Management

2009-05-19 Thread KhurramM

Hi all!

I dont know, if its possible, but I like to have a installer like:

gambas-3.1.2-install.bin or gambas-3.1.2-install.sh

for every new release (stable or unstable), for all linuxes.

Advantages:

1 Faster updating.
2 Faster bug fixing (as every one uses it).
3 More documentation to configure and use.
4 Choice to use any version any-time.
5 Be independent of compiling and dependency seeking.
6 Single repos for all linux-variants.
7 Easy downgrading, if required.
8 Easy testing of a unstable release.
9 Installing as a core-package rather then a dependent.
10 More helps available.

Just as sun offers jdk and jre releases fro linuxes.

Installer and un-installer packages be also available in the same format.

Please Agree!:-) Thanks in advance.

Currently I am on hardy, and I dont find it comfortable to compile.

Best Regards to all..

Re: [Gambas-user] Feature Request - Package Management

2009-05-19 Thread KhurramM

Hello All!

TO joshiggins
 ...The only problem
then is, say because your on Hardy, you'd possibly have two different GTK
versions...
Intelligent Installer, it installs only what is not present on the
 system.

TO Rob Kudla
...I build my own package rather than using some binary installer. ...
It is what you prefer, not me.
... would make the Gambas installer fill a CD ...
Does JDK do that? Do people complain?
8 Easy testing of a unstable release.
What if I still wanna try? :working:
... How will putting Gambas into a monolithic installer create more
documentation and help?...
Any user on Any Linux can access yours and mine help and documentation.
Linux-Platform independent. Also same configuration settings.
...There is an installer system called Klik that would provide what you're
describing...
. Klik failed to work on 50% applications, on my testing it. :-((:-((
TO Sergio A. Hernandez
.. I try to be patient and wait to the ubuntu package. ...
I am not patient on waiting for ubuntu to package for me. I am
concerned to install and use the latest. :-(

Thanks all, and I hope my request is accredited by the Gambas Developer
Team. :-)

Re: [Gambas-user] How to control the PRINT output in console application

2009-05-17 Thread KhurramM

Well Sir! I used the following:

PRINT Format$(TimeVal, -00.00), Format$(height, -0.00),
Format$(velocity, -.00)

Other options did not got me the result the way I wanted the allignment.

C and C++ give us the option to control the position of the cursor before
printing.

Is there no option like this in GAMBAS?

Best Regards:confused:

Re: [Gambas-user] How to view GAMBAS BASIC code of a GUI, when I write no code

2009-05-15 Thread KhurramM

Thanks for your reply, Sir.

Well it seems a milestone for me.

Any how, I am a new programmer on GUI side. Is it possible that I learn GUI
techniques of Gambas.
No where I can find material related to this. I was going thru the book:
Johns Beginners Guide, but the commands of ver1 dont work in gambas2.

Any help will be appreciated.
