[Gambas-user] svn 7602 question about libraries

Salut Benoît,

I never used external (not in gambas written) libraries, but I wonder,
how they are attached to a project now?
This came up to me, because older libraries which were attached to the
project before the library management changed are still shown (of course
they are still marked in the .project) but I can't attach them any more
like this (by the path).

You must either :

- Create the library executable from the library project.

- Install the library from a binary package made by the last IDE.

To be able to use a library now.

In the end I had to resort to that (and reapply all our local mods). It looked 
like the local svn directory was very very mucked up.  
I read the "svn cleanup" help a bit more closely and I suspect that is the 
culprit as I ran it a few days ago (because it wanted me to).
I'll be a lot more careful in the future!

Did you install the SDL2 development packages? Then you must issue a 
'./reconf-all  ./configure -C' before recompiling.

Yes, I did it as usual !

However I tried by installing  libsdl2-image-dev and libsdl2-ttf-dev libraries 
(as Fabien suggested).

of course I saw, but I think/thought that touches the source package of
Gambas 3.6 at sfn. 
Because I had never noticed that, during release update.

seems to work, but:

'svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/gambas/code/gambas/trunk/

fails with that error message.

No idea why. Or it is a coincidence, maybe sourceforge servers are 
overloaded? I don't know.

Maybe just the reinstallation ('make install') work. Try that first, it 
will be faster for you!

I had the same problem a few days ago (when Benoît moved some stuff
from gb.qt4 to gb.gui.base), and I solved it by doing :

sudo rm /usr/lib/gambas3/gb.qt4.gambas

(After removing all the Gambas stuff in /usr/local as Benoît said of
course).

website? I need a gdb stack backtrace and/or a valgrind output to guess 
what happened.

Don't know if this helps but. I got the same segfault this morning (AU).
A make clean followed by the normal build cycle fixed it all.
(NB still configuring --disable-jit and 32 bit system)

As Benoit said earlier today, the last bit of the make output is the
least possible information that you can give in these instances.  All it
is, is the make script unwinding itself. It is the stuff above that is
important.  At this point the best suggestion I can give is that you go
and read the bit on troubleshooting and then post the output.txt

The sequence is:

I followed always this sequence, and all was perfect !

Check again, I think you are doing something wrong.

There is no '-lgb.xml' anymore in the 
'trunk/gb.xml/src/html/Makefile.am' file since revision #4717.

Please provide the full output of 'make' (or 'make install'), not just 
the useless error messages!

Salut,

just delete the gb.xml directory.
There is no risk for you in any case.
If it was wrong to delete it, svn will replace it with the old files, if
it was ok it will replace it with the new files.

If everything work at the end ... I don't know if you use XML then every
thing should work.

I eliminated gb.xml folder; then I launched
$ svn checkout https://gambas.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gambas/gambas/trunk/

and it was OK.

Normally you should type tc (theirs-conflict) to get the file from 
subversion instead of yours.

It is not dramatic, as the .startup file is automatically generated by 
the compiler. So if you have any problem, you just have to recompile the 
gb.eval.highlight component.

then easiest option is tf. Otherwise you may have to answer several more

[Gambas-user] svn help needed

Hi list and to any svn experts

I inadvertently ran my mouse over my code tree, and accidently dragged my 
library folder inot the preferences folder.

Now when trying to commit I get this:

A  +preferences/library   
M   startup/modStartUp.module 
D C library   
 local delete, incoming edit upon update 
D   library/FLibrary.form 
D   library/FLibrary.class  

Any idea's how to solve this?

I'm not svn expert, but I would just delete the mangled source code folder,
and run checkout again.

You can edit this script to automatically compile new revision.
However I do not recommend to do so!
Because compilation takes quite a while and not all updates are beneficial
to you to compile.
So, I recommend to compile only if new revision has bug fix, new feature,
etc. that concerns you.

BTW. You may want to comment out sudo make clean if you have slow
computer.
BUT, if you example, compile interpreter (gbx3) for debugging (with debug
symbols and no optimizations).
And next revision doesn't change anything with gbx3, then it wont be
recompiled!

I'm a little late to the party but excited by how much progress Gambas
has made since my first introduction around 1.7.

I'm also rather new to using svn as a tool to keep in sync with the dev
team of such a large project. What is a reasonable method of updating
your local trunk and doing another recompile?

Is there a way to minimize the build time involved other than the -C for
configure?

In a perfect world, I would like to have a script that checks to see if
there have been any updates and if so continue with an auto build of
Gambas 3. I would also like to have a log of any warnings so I don't
have to read through pages of redirected compiler output searching for
them.

If you have something like this already built and willing to share, it
would save me from recreating another wheel.

However I do watch the svnversion of the currently working one so I can roll 
back if needed, as sometimes the lastest and greatest svn build fails, however 
not that commonly.

In the event if won't compile, Benoit is pretty quck to take a look.

 has made since my first introduction around 1.7.
 
 I'm also rather new to using svn as a tool to keep in sync with the dev
 team of such a large project. What is a reasonable method of updating
 your local trunk and doing another recompile?
 
 Is there a way to minimize the build time involved other than the -C for
 configure?
 
 In a perfect world, I would like to have a script that checks to see if
 there have been any updates and if so continue with an auto build of
 Gambas 3. I would also like to have a log of any warnings so I don't
 have to read through pages of redirected compiler output searching for
 them.
 
 If you have something like this already built and willing to share, it
 would save me from recreating another wheel.

here is a list of commands which somebody gave me as a newbie. It just 
gets the updates not the whole source code.

sudo -i
cd trunk
svn update
./reconf
./configure -C
make

Gambas 2 and Gambas 3 are installed in their own directory, and the files

[Gambas-user] svn won't commit error shown.

brand new svn copy of our project tonight,  downloaded via gambas which said 
ok at the end, the svn won't commit with the message contained in the 
pictures.

Pity as I've done a number of bug fixes on several forms.

Won't commit in a terminal either.

Anyone familiar with the error message?

working copy admin area is missing.

I notice it wasn't set up with a trunk/ directory, does this matter?

Any idea's.
