Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Revenge.
Hi. The original Montezuma's Revenge from Alchemy had no joystick support. It was suppose to come with it, but in the end the demo came out without it. shaun everiss wrote: > turn it off for now tom. > When I got the game from alchemy I really never used a stick and > eventhough I have one I still don't really use it. > ___ Gamers mailing list .. Hi, Charles. Well, you can blame the delay on Microsoft. Grin! I've ben trying to get my game to save and read in binary data files for saved settings, and the documentation I am reading gives me directions on how to do it but when I follow the directions it doesn't work. Hey guys, The list isn't the place for error reports, please send them directly to me and I will get them fixed. Also, follow the directions you were given with your license key in regards to filling out the registration screen. You shouldn't be putting in your organization there. Please send future inquiries directly to me so we don't stuff up the list here. I am responding to these two incidents off list. Re: [Audyssey] opinion and a question - Re: Montezuma's Revenge.
Hi, Charles. As a matter of fact the new Montezuma's Revenge installs to a completely new location. It will install to the USA Games directory under Program Files just like STFC does where the old Alchemy version defaulted to an Alchemy directory under Program Files. So it is completely possable to have both installed at the same time. Although, I am certain once the new monty hits an internet server near you people won't much worry about the old demo. Smile. Re: [Audyssey] Chicanes was Rail Racer update
Hi, I am by no way an expert on this but as far as I know they use this mostly in european style racing to get them to slow down for a dangerous curve or something like that. I think they also use them in Nascar and that to slow down the drivers entering pit row and it makes them enter single file instead of many cars wide to limit crashes and the such. hth Rich - Original Message - From: Reinhard Stebner To: Gamers Discussion list Sent: Monday, June 19, 2006 11:51 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Chicanes was Rail Racer update thank you. [Audyssey] opinion and a question - Re: Montezuma's Revenge.
A lot of other gamers have said that they think that most of us would be using our keyboards anyway, so I think it must be so. Personally, I have no joystick or game pad. [Audyssey] Rail Racer download
Ok, beta is ready to download. I will be manually giving out the keys for a while, so when you buy your key, I will send you the download link. This way, I can monitor how many folks are getting the beta from which site, and adjust accordingly. Thanks to Damien, Sarah and Liam for offering to mirror the file. You can order your license at: http://www.blindadrenaline.com/railRacer/orderForm.html This price only applies to the beta, which is 30 dollars, the full release will be 35 or 40 dollars, but if you order the beta, you will get a free upgrade when the full game is released. This offer is basically for those that want to get the game early and check it out, it is fully playable, but new features will be added to the beta over the coming weeks, and be included in the full release. [Audyssey] Rail Racer coming up
Ok, the beta is ready to roll. There is one small problem, in that you can't run the game from the start menu after installation, you will have to go to your installation folder and run it from there. You can however, make yourself a shortcut manually in the folder to the game executable, which is called GameEngine.exe I will continue trying to fix this bug, but I figured I would go ahead and release the game, as this isn't much of a problem. Before I give the URL out to everyone, I wanted to see if anyone wished to mirror the file to help folks that want the beta to get it faster, as I figure there will be quite a few folks trying to download it at the same time. If you have a website with good speed, email me at the address below and let me know, and I'll give you the link to get it. I will send another message at 4PM eastern time giving out the links so folks can choose their download site. Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Revenge.
Hi Tom. Although I am a huge supporter of gamepads/joysticks and although I am not one of those who have already purchased the game I still say go for the release with the understanding that gamepad support is not yet in place. Was that a long runon sentence or what? In any case I think I can safely assume that most will opt for the beta without gamepad support for two reasons: 1. it seems to me most people still just use keyboard for game play. 2. People are pretty excited to see what has been done with the game. So gamers. Re: [Audyssey] Writing text adventures
Hi, Damien. I'm not quite sure how to say this without sounding like a jurk, but your C++ instructer simply does not know what he/she is talking about. Let me just say even though you can play sounds through the Windows Media API it does not allow for the high quality sounding special effects of DirectX, nor does it allow you the same degree of accessibility for a blind player. MS DirectX will allow you to have several playing sound effects at once, control panning, virtual 3D effects, volume, frequency, where to load the sound in software or in hardware, add special effects to playing files, etc. The Windows Media API isn't that advanced. As for the Windows Multimedia API being a standard Windows libraries they are, but DirectX is as well. Every copy of Microsoft Windows sold comes with a version of DirectX. Maybe not the newest, but DirectX is Microsoft's official main multimedia library for gaming. You can use what you want, but I'm just going to tell you if you someday wake up and wonder why your games don't sound as good as GMA's Tank Commander or Shades of Doom you'll know that DirectX is the way to go, and other solutions are not a good substitute. Speaking of that I think that if you interested in continuing this topic you should move the discussion over to the agdev newbies list as that is where the proper place for this discussion is. I am discussing with the agdev-newbies right now plans to make a simple C++ game as a sample showing some of the basics of DirectX. X-Sight Interactive wrote: > Well yes maybe msword and excel does have them libraries, but only because > microsoft choose to make them libraries separately. I just checked on GTC. I know for a fact that Lone Wolf supports Gamepads because I play it all the time with a gamepad. But when you mentioned GTC might too I had to go check. [Audyssey] classic games
HI all, For those of you who love old games, check this site out. Still haven't tried any of these games, but apparrently some of them are text based, and they were some of the first games written. http://www.moorecad.com/classicbasic/index.html ___ Gamers mailing list .. [Audyssey] golf game scores
Well I've been playing Jim Kitchen's audio golf game and finally got 2 eagles. Am not doing as well as most of you but got 4 boegies 6 pars 6 birdies and 2 eagles. So ended up 2 strokes under par. Felt pretty good especially since I haven't messed with it much. *smiles* my dad loves to play golf so did it in honor of fathers day. When I could see was a caddy and drove the cart and/or would run behind it for excerise. Almost drove it into a palm tree once LOLOLOL Saw it just didn't understand you need to steer gently instead of jerking it hard right or left. That's what the racing games on here are for, they can get you more used to the idea of how to really drive...not that I plan on doing that anytime soon. *grins* Otherwise we'd have to declare a state of emergency on the roadways! Have a good one, all! Chris ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] Writing text adventures
Hi Damien, I am running JFW 4.02 and VB 6. I am totally blind. Have no sighted help. I have no problem writing, compiling and running VB 6 code. All of my windows games are written and compiled in VB 6. If you need any help with BB 6, please feel free to write me. I am not sure if using the windows media api will give you the features of DirectX. You know stuff like panning, volume, frequency play back etc. BFN Jim C. E. O. Kitchen's Inc. Re: [Audyssey] Writing text adventures
Well yes maybe msword and excel does have them libraries, but only because microsoft choose to make them libraries separately. The guy who's teaching me c++ says that if I were to make a game in c++, I wouldn't need to use comaudio or direct x - just the windows multimedia api. Now yes that is a library, but it's a standard windows library, it's not an add-on. Regards, Damien -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Thomas Ward Sent: 19 June 2006 02:39 To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Writing text adventures Hi, Damien. When you say that C++ is one self-contained program and has no "silly little libraries" you are only looking at very very very simple programs. I can garentee you that more complex C++ programs have many of those "silly little libraries." Have you ever looked at MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, Windows Media Player, etc? Well, I can tell you there is a *.exe file, and several *.dll libraries which it depends on written in C++. Some of them are a part of the Windows OS like the Microsoft Foundation Classes, MFC, and some are written specificly for those apps. Linux applications written in C++ are no different. A text editor like gedit depends on many core GTK+ libraries, and is no stand alone application. As for .net languages being like Java that is not to far from the mark. That is indeed where MS seams to be heading for the technology.
