Hi Liam,
If memory serves me correctly I believe you were offering a contest to guess
the download size of the game. Is there any news or a winner of said
contest?

Thanks

Right now the audio demo is still the same old one, but I will be
releasing
something before the game is released. There are still things I have to
add
and change, so once the main game is finalized, I'll be recording some
audio
from it. I think it'll be worth the wait.
There are a lot of new features I've added since the last audio demo.

Re: [Audyssey] Electronic talking chess game

2006-11-17 Thread Susanne Pedersen
Hi charles,
Thanks for your suggestions. Maybe, a talking chess game is not the solution
for me, because I live in denmark, and those, I've seen on the net, are made
in the US or England, making it impossible for me to try before I buy. I
would think, those beeping ones are more widely available, since they are
made for the sighted. I'm just not sure how I should figure out what moves
the computer makes, if I try that option. Have you tried any of those
devices yourself? Your suggestion about a computer chess program is not bad
either. The reason, I didn't mention that option in my previous post is that
I would like to be able to play the game while travelling for instance,
where power for a computer is not always available. I have a laptop, but
it's not much use without constant power anymore, because its battery is old
and only lasts half an hour or less at a time. I wouldn't mind trying a
chess program though. actually, I have tried one called WinbBoard some years
ago. I soon got frustrated and tired of it though, since it had no
difficulty settings, which of course meant,I had absolutely no chance of
beating the computer. I seem to have lost the installer for it, when I moved
to the laptop, so I don't have it anymore. Which programs would you
recommend?

Best regards,
Susanne

| My first thought would be, "How about a chess program for your PC?" I can
| send you a free one as an Email attachment, or you can get one that has a
| 30-day trial period. As far as a talking chess computer, I think your
best
| bet would be to, if possible, try it before you buy it. Another thought
is
| that, maybe, you don't need the computer to talk. Some chess computers
have
| beeps to indicate when the correct squares are pressed, and you can cut
| rubber strip magnets that have adhesive on their backs to the size of the
| squares and center them on the squares of the pressure sensitive board.
You
| can cut pieces of strip magnet to size and stick them onto the bottom of
| each chess piece, then mark the black pieces in any way so that you can
| distinguish them from the White. Talking chess computers are more
expensive
| and they have fewer features than these, so you can save a lot of money
and
| it doesn't take all that long to modify a beeping computer.

Hi.

If you absolutely can't get hold of Ian Humphries, your welcome to send me a
mail on [EMAIL PROTECTED] and I'll send you the Bg Hearts set up file.

Ian does say on his site that it's fine to pass coppies around (though I

I'm afraid i haven't got Bg 15 puzle, so you'll have to get somebody else to
send you that.

Bye for now.

Re: [Audyssey] Baseball game

2006-11-17 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Stancil,

I hope that you might check out my baseball game. It can be found on my free
Windows sapi5 text to speech games page. If you have not played any of my free
windows sapi5 text to speech games before you will first want to down load and
install the winkit.zip file which is on the same page.

BTW my site has moved. It is no longer at blindprodigy.net but is now at
griffithsgoodies.com

But you don't even need to know that. The address

http://www.kitchensinc.net

Will get you there.

If you have any questions about the game or trouble getting it, please write or
call and I'd be glad to try to help.

[Audyssey] hearts

2006-11-17 Thread Jen Karns
Hi,
I tried again to e-mail Ian for a copy of BG hearts
and BG 15 puzzle. But again, I get a failure notice.
Is there another way to contact him to get a copy of
these two games?
Thanks

is is to have it done and give it to people who preorder a day in advance so
they can get decent speeds off the server before everyone else bombards it.

This is great!

It sounds like we're getting something fairly wonderful here, even though
it's another space invaders audio game, the unlockables, different weaponry
etc sound great!

I particularly look forward to unlocking the different cut scenes.

I might well pre-order the game myself, not just for the three quid
discount, but also so that I can get to play it streight away. - grin.

Pluss, after Judgement day isdone Liam, you can finish the developement of

Seriously, congrats on getting the game finished, and I look forward to
trying it out.

Here is the latest news from Lworks.

Judgment Day release date announced:

Our latest game Judgment day now has a definite release date. The game will
be released December 8th. The game retails for $25 and more info as well as
an audio demonstration can be found on the Judgment Day Page at
www.l-works.net/judgmentday.php

it is the year 2015, and the world is at war. This war has been the most
catastrophic to humanity. Two powers are fighting for control. The allies
and a group of nations calling themselves The Supreme Evil. Little is known
about this group and it's motives, but one thing is clear. This group has
advanced weaponry. Over several months, the Allies have been slowly
destroyed by strange and lethal weaponry. The commander of the Supreme Evil
known as Supreme Commander Ather has quickly dispatched several countrys in
the span of a few months. In one last effort to retain any hope, the allies
have gathered all their forces in one area. A defensive station was built,
and plans were made to finally lay the Supreme evil to rest. However, this
task may prove to be harder than one thinks. and this is where you come in.
Your job is to fend off the group of The Supreme Evil's forces, as well as
deal With supreme Commander Ather.

You command the only allied defensive post left. Your job is to fend off the
enemies. Compared to the Supreme evil, your weapons are primative. However,
they can be effective. You are given a machine gun with unlimitted shells, a
supply of rockets, and a small supply of sky clearing nukes. Your crew will
do there best to keep the base undamaged. If there's no damage, they may
even find time to replentish your nukes and rockets if you're running low.

the game will include.
. 10 levels of play plus a boss level where you get to take on Supreme
commander Ather himself . 3 levels of difficulty . a trophy system allowing
you to earn awards for performing certain tasks in the game . 4 unlockable
bonus levels . an unlockable ending for collecting enough trophys . an
unlockable ultra difficulty setting . online score support to post your
scores to all bonus games and difficulty levels . and more!

Preordering for Judgment Day:

If for what ever reason you want to purchase the game earlier at reduced
price, this is totally possible. LWorks will start offering the ability to
purchase a preordered version of Judgment Day from the store at some point
this weekend. The benefit to buying earlier is that you will be the very
first to receive a download of the game as soon as it is released. Beat the
rush when it comes to downloading. Also, the game retails for $25, but if
you buy early, we'll knock 20 percent off the normal purchase price. I
understand there are some misgivings when it comes to preordering. Lworks
will insure that on December 8, there is a completed and bug free copy of
Judgment day for you to play.

Right now the audio demo is still the same old one, but I will be releasing
something before the game is released. There are still things I have to add
and change, so once the main game is finalized, I'll be recording some audio
from it. I think it'll be worth the wait.
There are a lot of new features I've added since the last audio demo.

[Audyssey] Jaws accessible Baseball

2006-11-17 Thread Gary Whittington
I have made the Strat O Matic Computer Baseball game accessible with Jaws.

Making it Window Eyes is next.
I have only begun this but for now you can get a demo of the Strat Baseball
Computer game at:

http://www.playball.ws

Look for the "Strat Instructional Jukebox"link.

There you can download the demo and there are also help audio files that you
can listen too.

I plan to drop in the startup kit a Jaws demo so those who have other TTS
can check out the game demo. MOstly it will be a link to where you one can
get the latest demo of Jaws.

The Strat games are manager sims that use actual players from past season.
As being the only blind Strat player in a league that plays over the net, I
have two teams both being the Chicago teams. At this time we are finsihing
up the 1938 and I am looking forward the 1939 season where a rookie of Ted
Willims starts to play for the Red Sox.

be released December 8th. The game retails for $25 and more info as well as
an audio demonstration can be found on the Judgment Day Page at
www.l-works.net/judgmentday.php

it is the year 2015, and the world is at war. This war has been the most
catastrophic to humanity. Two powers are fighting for control. The allies
and a
group of nations calling themselves The Supreme Evil. Little is known about
this group and it's motives, but one thing is clear. This group has advanced
weaponry. Over several months, the Allies have been slowly destroyed by
strange and lethal weaponry. The commander of the Supreme Evil known as
Supreme
Commander Ather has quickly dispatched several countrys in the span of a few
months. In one last effort to retain any hope, the allies have gathered all
their forces in one area. A defensive station was built, and plans were made
to finally lay the Supreme evil to rest. However, this task may prove to be
harder than one thinks. and this is where you come in. Your job is to fend
off the group of The Supreme Evil's forces, as well as deal With supreme
Commander
Ather.

• 10 levels of play plus a boss level where you get to take on Supreme
commander Ather himself
• 3 levels of difficulty
• a trophy system allowing you to earn awards for performing certain tasks
in the game
• 4 unlockable bonus levels
• an unlockable ending for collecting enough trophys
• an unlockable ultra difficulty setting
• online score support to post your scores to all bonus games and difficulty
levels
• and more!

Re: [Audyssey] Goal Ball Game

2006-11-17 Thread Steve Crawford
There's a website I came across a while back with an audible version of
"goalball one on one" but it's in English and no on-screen text. It seems
you need a version which also puts text on your screen so you can cut and
paste the text into Google, translate it into Portugese and have your screen
reader speak it. Surely if you want an audio game you want it to be in a
language you can understand, so the question is whether there is an
accessible version of the game in Portugese?

Re: [Audyssey] Goal Ball Game

2006-11-17 Thread Charles Rivard
The game of goal ball is very simple. It would be almost like Jim Kitchen's
game of Pong with a bell sound for the ball. I sure would like to play Goal
Ball again, but not on the PC. It's a game that you have to play in person
to appreciate!

This is not a baseball game all the way, but the PinBall Xtreme game has
a baseball pinball table which is fun to play as well.

The game can be gotten from www.draconisentertainment.com

You can try out the demo before you buy it. Just know it's not a
baseball game, it's a pinball game with a baseball table as one of its
many tables.

Re: [Audyssey] Electronic talking chess game

2006-11-17 Thread Charles Rivard
My first thought would be, "How about a chess program for your PC?" I can
send you a free one as an Email attachment, or you can get one that has a
30-day trial period. As far as a talking chess computer, I think your best
bet would be to, if possible, try it before you buy it. Another thought is
that, maybe, you don't need the computer to talk. Some chess computers have
beeps to indicate when the correct squares are pressed, and you can cut
rubber strip magnets that have adhesive on their backs to the size of the
squares and center them on the squares of the pressure sensitive board. You
can cut pieces of strip magnet to size and stick them onto the bottom of
each chess piece, then mark the black pieces in any way so that you can
distinguish them from the White. Talking chess computers are more expensive
and they have fewer features than these, so you can save a lot of money and
it doesn't take all that long to modify a beeping computer.

Hello.

jim kitchen has produced an accessible baseball game using Sapi and sound
effects, you can get it at:
http://kitchensinc.blindprodigy.net/

As to how good it is, I'm probably not the best person to ask. Being both
English and not really into sports, I found the game slightly
incomprehensible, though hitting the balls was fun.

Hope this helps,

[Audyssey] Electronic talking chess game

2006-11-17 Thread Susanne Pedersen
Hi all,
I would like to buy an electronic talking chess game. I've looked around on
the net for one, and found 4 or 5 different models, if i remember correctly,
with varying prices. However, I find it hard to decide which one to get,
since the descriptions, I've read, aren't that informative. Also, on one
site, where I found two different models, there was no comparison between
the cheap and the expensive one. Therefore, I'd appreciate it, if someone
could recommend a chess game, they think, is good. The game should meet one
or more of the following criteria:
1. Ability to play as a fully blind person.
2. Ability to play alone against the game.
3. Ability to set difficulty level. (I'm picking the game up again after
many years, so guess, I'm a beginner).

Thanks in advance,
Susanne

I'm much much much much much more than willing to help you wherever you
get stuck. Please don't hesitate to ask what you don't understand in the
manual.
I really like it to help people understanding games. What exactly is it
that you struggle with.
Is the manual unclear?
I can start off with the most basic hint: don't try to play the game on
a higher difficulty. Start off on easy and if you beat the game on easy
then you go over to normal etc.
AT this stage I went so far as level 8 in insane difficulty; so I
understand how the game works so I'm really willing to help you wherever
you get stuck.
If you can tell me exactly what in the game presents a problem, I will
know better how to help you.
