Re: [Audyssey] stfc a few basic questions

2006-12-11 Thread Dark
Hi.

Nope A1-E5 is the entire galaxy, Federation space being in the square A1-C3,
Klingon space being D1-E3 etc.

As for torpedos, the numbers when you select to fire Quantum or Photon
Torpedos are how many of them you want to fire. You can check how many of
each your ship's got in the status menue, but obviously when their gone,
their gone unless you can dock with a starbase or other starship.

Now as to your ship's main power. This is used for replenishing your
supplies of phaisors or shields when they run low (as far as I know in this
game moving, scanning or using torpedos doesn't seem to consume power).

Shields and phaisors actually work in a fairly similar way. Say on a turn
you get hit with a strong attack and lose all your shields (shields at
zero), one more hit from anything and your ship's going to be a cloud of
floating particals.

If you go into the "Restock" menue, you can top up your shields from your
ship's main power (assuming of course your shield generator or main power
haven't been knocked out by damage from the enemy fire). Restocking your
shields will take a good chunk of power though, so you can't do this
indeffinately (especially if your having to restock your shields often).

Phaisors work exactly the same way. You can hit an enemy with %100 of your
phaisors, but then to fire them again on the next term you'll have to
restock them from your ship's power.

power, phaisors and shields all recover at a rate of 10 per turn, but
obviously when your in combat, this is no where near fast enough.

I believe a ship's speed at warp 1 is exactly 1 light year, or one 25th of a
sector), but I could be wrong about this sinse I don't really use slow
speeds very much.

hth.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

Hey Rob,

I had a look at your site. Would it be possible to skip the background

makes it pretty unreadable for us seeing people. Black text on dark

[Audyssey] STFC true battle story.

2006-12-11 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi all,
I have gotten allot of questions regarding how to play STFC, how to beat
STFC, and make many command decisions. Here is a true battle which I
fought tonight and won on the STFC advanced level of play. This is
provided here as a reference and might help you become a more advanced
player.

Battle Story

As STFC began in the advanced level of game play I instantly set into
checking the status of all of my ships and stations such as location,
and which starsystem I would be in range of attacking first. As it
happens three of my starships Enterprise, Seleya, and Sovereign were all
in sectors C1 through C3. Practically, on the Klingon boarder. Therefore
I decided that is where I would strike first.
As I looked over all of my starships I had to figure out which would
take the lead on this mission. Sovereign was the closest to Klingon
space plus was in sector C2 which was more ore less at the center of the
Federation/Klingon boarder. I then decided to set it up as my lead ship,
set Sovereign to warp 3, and then commanded all of my other starships to
autopilot to Sovereign at maximum warp.
Several moves passed as my other starships gained on Sovereign and
Sovereign crossed from Fed space in to Klingon space. Immediately one
Klingon starship, Qu'vaht, attacked Sovereign. I opened up on the
Klingon heavily damaging his torpedoes and disruptor's, but failed to
destroy him. He retreated and Drovna decloaked adding damage to Sovereign.
However, it was at this time Seleya and Enterprise made it to the
battle. Seleya opened up, not making Sovereign's mistake, and blew
Drovna away.
Meanwhile I put Sovereign on a withdraw to restore shields and phasers.
However, at this point in time Tohkaht opened up on Deep Space 9, and
was quickly dispatched. Setting more stats as 0 losses, two kills, and
one confirmed destroyed Klingon.
Feeling a bit left out the Cardassians decided to join in the action.
One Cardassian went for Enterprise while one went for Earth Station
McKinley. Let us just say both Cardassians were quickly destroyed.
At this point I decided Enterprise, Seleya, and Sovereign needed to
withdraw and restock at DS9 which was the closest station to the boarder
which I was currently defending. Fortunately, for the task force
Monarchy had just joined up with the fleet, and Defiant was 16 light
years behind.
As Monarchy joined the task force the Romulans decided to join in the
engagement. Goraxus decloaked and attacked Monarchy as she stayed behind
as a rear guard. There was a brief firefight and Commander Sela's
flagship was vaporised.
Right about that time the Vornak, another Klingon, attacked DS9. DS9 had
no trouble in dispatching the Vornak bringing the score to three
destroyed Klingons, one damaged Klingon, two Cardassian kills, and one
Romulan kill. Not bad, and I hadn't taken any serious losses yet.
Although, my fleet was running on low energy and a handful of torpedoes
between them all.
The Bortas, another Klingon, decloaked right in front of my withdrawing
fleet and pounded away on Sovereign knocking her power off line. This
might have been fatal except Enterprise, Monarchy, and Seleya had about
75 quantums each as well as low phaser power. I tossed all I had in to
Bortas and he exploded in a cloud of dust, and fortunately was no more.
Defiant had yet to see action. Although, I was ready to really ready to
punish the Klingons. Not to mention I wanted to hunt down and kill the
Qu'vaht who had escaped earlier.
I cloaked Defiant and sent it on a direct heading for the nearest
Klingon base figuring that is where I would find Qu'vaht. In this I
wasn't wrong. However, this battle almost became the turning point of
the war.
Defiant carried on to the Klingon base while all my other ships docked
with DS9 refueled, restocked weapons, and prepared for another
engagement. Once they were ready I sent Seleya, Sovereign, and
Enterprise out to backup Defiant. Monarchy was left behind either as a
rear guard or to intercept any invaders in to Fed space. Although the
Klingons weren't my worry. There wer four nasty Romulans out there which
had yet to make contact with my forces.
Defiant decloaked at Qo'nos 1 and hammered the station hard.
Unfortunately, I managed to knok power off line, but was unable to make
the kill with Defiant's weapons alone. Not only that but Terix happened
to decloak and hit Defiant causing critical damage. I cloaked and beat a
hasty retreat hoping to buy time for my allies to show up and start butt
kicking the Romulans.
A few moves passed and all at once I had three allied ships there, and
Defiant's phasers were charged. I decloaked and waited for my enemies to
show there face. What follows next is difficult to remember, but it
went something like this.
Terix and Qu'vaht decloaked firing on Seleya and Sovereign. While both
ships took damage my four starships blasted the Klingon starbase, terix,
and the Qu'vaht leaving nothing left of them.

Download and install the latest version of DirectX. YOu can get it right on
the Usagames web site. Note: Simply extracting the files doesn't install the
program. Once they're extracted, go to the folder you extracted them to and
run dxsetup.exe. This should clear the problem right up. It did for me, and
I was on the point of going stir crazy before someone on list suggested it.

[Audyssey] The lists of Talwarden in Sryth.

2006-12-11 Thread MissWings
Hi all.

I'm trying to win the lists of Talwarden adventure in Sryth, with an
archery skill level at forty four I think. Does anyone happen to know what
the ideal level is to have it at to win that adventure, or is everything
totally random? Is there even a possibility of winning, and has anyone won
the adventure? Just wondering. Thanks all.

MissWings

2006-12-11 Thread Brandon Cole
Hi there,
Firstly, yes, it is possible to win. I have done so. I did it at level 50.
Being at a higher level does help you win the contest, but part of it is
luck. You will hit more targets at a higher level, but where you hit them
and how many points you get is random. Good luck to you!
Sincerely,
Brandon

[Audyssey] Montezuma's Revenge News

2006-12-11 Thread Thomas Ward
Montezuma's Revenge News

Dec. 11, 2006

Hi all,
With STFC 1.0 now released we have had more time to work directly on
Montezuma's Revenge. As many of you know we released a trailer sometime
last week which showed off a bit of Montezuma's Revenge Alpha 2. As it
happens there have been many new changes in the works since that time,
and there is many exciting changes going in to Monty Alpha 2.
As of today Monday Dec. 11, 2006 we have started on a major upgrade of
the Monty engine core. Many of the planned changes include the ability
to map keyboards, joysticks, and mice via the options menu, which will
give the end user greater control over his or her favorite input device
and default layout.
In addition In Alpha 1 the only input device available was the keyboard.
In Alpha 2 we have added Joystick and mice support to the game. Although
quite buggy and untested so far this will allow everyone a chance to use
his or her favorite input device.
The options menu now offers the player the ability to adjust the speech
rate and volume. While not highly requested all USA Games products will
have this built in ability via the USAGames.Engine.dll library which we
have been working on to power our games.
As if those changes were not enough Arizona Smith must face several new
deadly traps including quicksand, leap over rows of deadly spikes, and
more... Another change recently made the metal ladders have been
replaced by stone staircases, and ropes have been replaced with vines.
The effect makes the temples feel a bit more realistic as well as spookier.
As for when exactly we will be able to post a demo of the changes that
is impossible to say. The upgrade we are working on now will take quite
a long time to complete, but once done we should be able to work
directly on adding more levels, and getting the game ready to release.

[Audyssey] file sharing

2006-12-11 Thread Ken the Crazy
I found a sound sharing web site at www.audio4fun.com. As far as I know you
don't have to pay to upload your sounds, and there are few er restrictions.

[Audyssey] Judgment Day is here

2006-12-11 Thread Liam Erven
Finally, the wait is over. You can download the demo of LWork's newest game
Judgment day. Visit www.l-works.net/judgmentday.php to read more about the
game and to purchase it.

It is the year 2015 and the world is at war. Two powers are fighting for
control: the Allies and a group of nations calling themselves the Supreme Evil.
Little is known about The Supreme Evil and its motives but one thing is clear:
this group has advanced weaponry. Over several months, the Allies have been
slowly destroyed by The Supreme Evil. Supreme Commander Ather, commander of the
Supreme Evil, has quickly dispatched several countries in the span of a few
months. In one last effort to retain any hope, the Allies have gathered all
their forces in one area. A defensive station was built and plans were made to
finally lay the Supreme Evil to rest; however, this task may prove to be harder
than one thinks. This is where you come in. Your job is to fend off the Supreme
Evil and Supreme Commander Ather.

You command the only Allied defensive post left. Compared to the Supreme Evil,
your weapons are primitive; however, they can be effective. You are given a
machine gun with unlimited shells, a supply of rockets, and a small supply of
sky-clearing nukes. Your crew will do their best to keep the base undamaged. If
there's no damage, they may even find time to replenish your nukes and rockets.
