If you have one of the older keyboards which only have 2 control keys,
no windows or application keys, shift+f10 performs the same function as
the application key.

Just a slight correction.

You will not be able to easily rename filenames including their
extensions by doing what you describe below unless you have the show
extensions option enabled in Windows. By default the extensions are
hidden. However, if they are showing then your method which is very well

written will work.

Regarding the keyboard keys though. Most standard 104-key keyboards will

have going from left to right the following keys:

left-control, left-windows, left-alt, space bar, right alt, right
windows, applications, right-control.

So, the applications key is not the same as the right windows key. Now,
I do have a keyboard which has only one windows key on the left, and on
the right in place of it, there is just the applications key which is
probably what you meant for this type of keyboard.

I just wanted to clear this up to avoid any confusion. Also, it is
called the applications key or the context key regardless of whether you

use Jaws, Hal, Window-Eyes, Narrator, or nothing at all. smile.

Hope this helps.

[Audyssey] sites containing sports, bowling and shooter games (was Games)

2007-01-09 Thread Neo
Hi,
there used to be BSc Football in development, but as far as I know, they've
shelved the project and didn't get back to it again yet. However, there is
Super Football by Vipgameszone. But if you are a serious sports fan, you
probably won't like this one, as their rules are quite modified and some
aspects have not really much to do with true football or soccer at all. It
was enough for me to just give the manual a quick look to get a wrong
impression, thus I've never tried the game myself. :-)
Still, you can find it at:
http://www.vipgameszone.com
When you know the Jim Kitchen games, then you're probably aware of his
Casino, Baseball and Mach 1 titles.
There are more strategic Baseball oriented games, but as I am not fond of
this type of games, I can't give you much more information about them. I
guess you ask Garry Whitington aka Crash who often refers to his fresh
discoveries in this area here.
The only audio bowling game I know is a collaboration between PCs Games and
Draconis Entertainment named Ten Pin Alley which is located at:
http://www.draconisentertainment.com
or easier
http://www.dracoent.com
As for racing games, there is USa Raceway in development which was
originally the idea of James NOrth from Alchemy Game Studios (formerly Esp
Softworks), and it's now handled by Thomas Wart from USA games
Entertainment. It's the only nascar racing game I'm aware of.
There is also Topspeed by Playing in the dark and Kilometer 2000 volume 1 by
Code Factory, both of which are free. To me, Topspeed wipes the floor with
Km2000. you can find and compare them at:
http://www.playinginthedark.net
and
http://www.codefactory.es
As for shooting games, GMA Games have an excellent first person shooter
called Shades of Doom, and then there is the opensource AGRIP project which
is an accessible extension to Quake.
http://www.gmagames.com
http://www.agrip.org.uk
As I have certainly forgotten lots of worthy releases and might even have
spoilt some of the URLs I gave you, I recommend you to check out:
http://www.audiogames.net
which is a huge accessible game related portal containing everything from
reviews, to cheat codes, to research reports, not to mention an online
forum.
And last but not least, there is the Fantastic games and where to find
them list by Phil Vlasak of PCS Games.
http://www.pcsgames.net/game-co.htm
Hope this helps, and feell free to ask any more questions.
Happy gaming!
Take care,

Is there any other formats out there for the book besides brf?
I don't have Openbook or Kurzweil as I think they are way over priced. I

Re: [Audyssey] sites containing sports, bowling and shooter games (was Games)

2007-01-09 Thread Gary Whittington
Hello every body!
Guess who!
I guess that's my cue.

What's new with me and Strat-o-Matic Computer Baseball game.
Jim Kitchen's Baseball game certainly a fun game.
A game where one can listen to a fast ball then try to hit a home run. Like
a video game in effect and many blind gamers play.

What Strat-o-Matic Baseball Computer game is a manager sim simple put.
In the past few years with hard work and love put into it I have created
Jaws configs to make this main market game accessible for the blind
community.
At this time the next huge step is to make it Windows accessible. There is
little left for me to with Jaws and the work is in its final stages.
recently, I have created Dos batch files that will allow blind visitor
managers to be able to net play with a Home manager who has sight. Now
that's what I call leveling the field. Smiles, taking that from All in Play
formly known as ZForm.
In fact tonight will be a milestone for me, the blind and the Strat company
with this latest work completed.
Tom Austad the league commissioner who allowed me to join a league who's all
members are sighted. Tom will have the 1939 Cardinals as the home team and
yours truely Crash with have his beloved 1939 Cubs. My starting pitcher for
this historical game will be ex-Cardinal Dizzy Dean. Win or lose its a step
toward my other Dream of create Blind Strat Leagues of basell, football,
basketball and hockey.

David Hoppmon who has help me in many ways will have the honors to take
part in the first game with both players being blind and playing Strat
Baseball over the net. We plan on having this game and many more on the
For-the-People.com web site. So, move over you Golf heads Baseball Fever
will being high in 2007.

To catch this fever and what to find out more and download the startup kit
swing over to:

http://www.playball.ws

The startup kit called AccessibleBB that can be download on the
Strat Instructional Jukebox. On the Jukebox you also can listen to audio
clips to learn how to play and manager your team. The startup kit includes
a help me file to install the demo game and what is needed to do get Jaws
set up with the game to make it accessible.

David and I are looking forward in creating a draft league in the new year.
We'll have teams available for those who want to join the league. For those
who are interested, the best thing is to get the startup kit and with the
demo and learn who the game works with the other help files and audio clips
on playball.ws. Then when you get the full version you can contact me at:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you need help you can contact me with the same email address.
I rather help you out on a voice chat room like on
For-the-People.com or on my web page chat room the Crash Pad that you see on
playball.ws.

Well, got to go I need to warm up my pitching finger for tonights historical
game.

Re: [Audyssey] games

2007-01-09 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dennis,
As far as I am aware of Jim Kitchen's NFL is the only accessible
football game out there for us at the moment. However, I can suggest a
couple of good racing games which are being developed.
As far as racing games I can think of two of them.
USA Raceway doesn't have a demo at this point in time, but you can get
info on it by visiting
http://www.usagames.us/raceway.html
You can also find out about Rail Racer and buy a copy of the beta at
blindadrenalinsimulations.com
I own the beta of Rail Racer, and it is certainly becoming a very
interesting racing game.
Oh, and if you don't already have it there is a free racing game called
Topspeed 2 by
playing in the dark.

[Audyssey] treasure hunt and subscription activation

2007-01-09 Thread Nicol Oosthuizen

NB: This email and its contents are subject to our email legal notice
which can be viewed at http://www.sars.gov.za/Email_Disclaimer.pdf

HI all
I wasn't aware that my mailbox at home is so small. At work my mailbox
is 20 mb and no messages bounced from it so I must then have a rather
small mailbox at home because Thomas looked in to the matter and he saw
that mailman suspended my subscription because messages bounced from my
mailbox.
Is there a way I can reactivate my subscription from my work address?
Is it possible to send an e-mail from my work address to reactivate my
gamers subscription on my home address?
I'm not allowed internet access at work; only external e-mail. I just
wondered if there's a way to subscribe giving the address I want to
subscribe to the gamers list.
Reason being I have so much to share with you, and I don't want to do it
here as you guys finds it difficult to read my posts with the peace at
the top. I would appreciate it if any one can direct me how to
reactivate my subscription as quickly as possible.
I don't want to get at home and then only reactivate my subscription and
wait for the confirmation.
Anyway, I'm playing the demo of treasure hunt and I don't understand the
layout of the game really. I find myself bumping into walls all the
time. In treasure hunt you move in all 4 directions. Its not like
shades of doom where you walk down a maze or self destruct where you
also walk in all 4 directions but it's a grid with rooms where you know
if you are at the top edge or the bottom edge or the left or right edges
of the grid. Can you call the treasure hunt environment also a kind of
grid or maze? I don't understand the navigating concept. I want to
understand it before I buy the game. It feels as if I'm going in
circles all the time. I managed twice to get to the supply room but I
don't understand the navigation in the game.
Why does all the health packs lie in the supply room? It's a very long
way to walk to the supply room. In self destruct you pick up health
packs and ammunition as you walk about, but in treasure hunt everything
is lying in the supply room.
thanks

Hi.

I'm just trying Treasurehunt out myself before I considder buying the
game.
As far The game is a maze with walls, doors and co-ordinates. There is a

wind sound effect to tell you when passages are on your left and right,
but
this didn't seem as useful to me as the one in shades of doom, so I find

myself relying heavily on the look keys and coordinates, but in general
getting lost is a bit of a problem (one reason I haven't made a final
decision on whether I'm buying the game or not).

As to the supply room though, that gets intermitantly restocked,so if
your
running low on energy that's where you need to go to get more. , it's
just a
different system to picking up health packs and such at random as in
Shades
or Self-destruct.

I'm stil experimenting with the game myself and haven't made a final
decision on whether I'm getting it or not, so maybe someone with more
experience of the game would be able to answer your questions better.

Btw, did you check out the review of Treasurehunt? lots of handy stuff
about
look keys etc in there.

 just a
different system to picking up health packs and such at random as in
 Shades
 or Self-destruct.

 HI all
I wasn't aware that my mailbox at home is so small. At work my mailbox
is 20 mb and no messages bounced from it so I must then have a rather
small mailbox at home because Thomas looked in to the matter and he
 saw
that mailman suspended my subscription because messages bounced from
 my
 mailbox.
Is there a way I can reactivate my subscription from my work address?
Is it possible to send an e-mail from my work address to reactivate
 my
gamers subscription on my home address?
I'm not allowed internet access at work; only external e-mail. I just
wondered if there's a way to subscribe giving the address I want to
 subscribe to the gamers list.
Reason being I have so much to share with you, and I don't want to do
 it
here as you guys finds it difficult to read my posts with the peace at
the top. I would appreciate it if any one can direct me how to
reactivate my subscription as quickly as possible.
I don't want to get at home and then only reactivate my subscription
 and
 wait for the confirmation.
Anyway, I'm playing the demo of treasure hunt and I don't understand
 the
layout of the game really. I find myself bumping into walls all the
time. In treasure hunt you move in all 4 directions. Its not like
shades of doom where you walk down a maze or self destruct where you
also walk in all 4 directions but it's a grid with rooms where you
 know
if you are at the top edge or the bottom edge or the left or right
 edges
of the grid. Can you call the treasure hunt environment also a kind
 of
grid or maze? I don't understand the navigating concept. I want to
understand it before I buy the game. It feels as if I'm going in
circles all the time. I managed twice to get to the supply room but I
don't understand the navigation in the game.
Why does all the health packs lie in the supply room? It's a very long
way to walk to the supply room. In self destruct you pick up health
packs and ammunition as you walk about, but in treasure hunt
 everything
is lying in the supply room.
 thanks

I tried several times to open the bpc website but each time I got an
error. But that was when munawar was still out of business.
I'll try again. Is the review something different than the users guide
that is included if I install the game?
thanks

The review is on the Bpc programs page, (I'm surprised you didn't come
across it when you downloaded the Treasurehunt Exe file, sinse it's on
the
same page). Here's the link (to the page, not the review):
