[Audyssey] Snakes and Ladders

2007-02-02 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi,

I have put a new file up on my site.

File name winlad2.exe File size 569k bytes

In version 2 I fixed the midi file player and added features such as
a save game feature, a selection of sounds for when you move etc.

The file can be found on my free windows text to speech games page.

The Snakes and Ladders game shows up as ladders in the Kitchensinc game menu
program.

Re: [Audyssey] jim's golf game

2007-02-02 Thread John Snowling
hi. you can never avoide the ponds.

the 10 yards off in the fairway is a guide to how the ball will land on the
green.

the pitching wedge will allow you to hit up to 100 yards.

if your playing the golf 9 game from a sand trap a pw or iron will get you
on the green. any older version and i use the 4 wood in a sand trap which
can get you into the hole.

Subject: [Audyssey] jim's golf game

 Hi all
I'm now really starting to enjoy Jim's golf game.
A couple of tips I need from you please.
How can I avoid the ball falling into a pond?
Say for instance I'm 18 feet away from the pin and I hit space too soon my
 ball goes into a trap.
I don't understand the part where sappi says: for instance 10 yards off in
 a
fareway. Its not possible to hit THE BALL 10 YARDS. THE LEAST AMOUNT OF
YARDS YOU CAN HIT THE BALL WITH USING PITCH AND WEDGE IS 16 YARDS, THEN
 YOU
HAVE TO HIT SPACE IMMEDIATELY WHEN YOU HEAR THE TONE.
What does that mean, ITS 10 YARDS OFF IN A FAREWAY?
So how can I avoid the ball falling into a pond?
You would all agree with me to enjoy the game the most you have to know
 what
 each bit of scenery is.
There's a couple of descriptions I don't know the meaning of.
I went into the function to create your own golf course and I wrote each
description down as sapi read it to me. I loaded jaws and notepad and
 each
description I would like the meaning of, I wrote it in notepad the way I
think its pronounced. hay guys if a part of the message is in full caps,
its not my intention to shout. I have a problem with this caps lock key
 and
I'm now too lazy to convert everything to lower case again. Just so you
 know. .
Would you be so kind to tell me what each one means please?
Its words I have never heard before.
Is deep ruff a kind of rock?
Is outer bounds a type of drop off?
 What is a creek?
Is a firehouse the place where fire brigades works?
Is a greenhouse simply a house who's color is green?
Is a haunted house a broken house?
Is a horse corel the same as a horse stable?
Is a barn also like a stable?
Is a mantion a kind of house?
I think motel is like an inn, because I have read of a motel in Afrikaans
stories, how people stay over as guests in a motel.
What do you buy at a pro shop?
 What is a swamp?
Is a tavern like a chapel?
Is a battling spring like a waterfall? Why is it called battling spring?
 Is
it the way the water runs on the pebbles?
 What is a bunker?
The rest of the scenery descriptions I have heard before. Its just these
 I
mentioned which I never heard before.
 thanks

Out of bounds means that you hit the ball clear off of the golf course. So
actually many if not all of the descriptions that I added would actually be

Re: [Audyssey] jim kitchen's games

2007-02-02 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Damien,

Yes in some of my games pressing the alt key is sort of an Easter egg. It is
also meant to keep one from using alt f4 to close the program as my games were
not designed to be closed that way. I have now learned how to manage what
happens when one presses alt f4. So far that is only in Simon and Snakes and
Ladders.

I have one little program that loads the words from a text file and then
randomly picks and mixes those words into random length sentences. One text
file that I use is nothing but descriptive sex words. That's kind of fun.
grin I also have a little program that just picks letters and vowels to make
up words. Which is also fun, but sometimes doesn't work for all of the sapi5
voices. Both of these programs though are written specifically to choose from
the voices that I have on my computer. So I have not shared them.

BFN

 Jim

Random order is an oxymoron.

Hi Mark,

Different golf courses have different pars and difficulty factors etc. Like my
record on the Vinks Chip and Putt course is 38. But par for that course is
only 54. Where as I believe that it is 72 for the Willoughby Lost Nation
Municipal course. But anyway your score of 52 on that course is pretty darn
good I think. My current record is 53. So you've got me beet.

Good idea as reguards the update. Will you be keeping the setting of
 Sarah
as late July or 1995 just before the start of Halfblood prince?
(Beware! here tharr be Harry potter spoilers!!),

I'm only asking because I assume that changing the game to reflect the
 state
of Hogwarts post Halfblood prince might require lots of changes, -
Deatheater induced spell damage around the castle and such, and of
 course
changes in the head master's office and the edition of dumbledore's
 tomb
(though visiting his tomb might be nice for all Hp fans who got a shok

 the end of book 6).

 Hi Folks,
Since Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows will be released July 21st 2007, I will be releasing an update
 to
Sarah and the Castle of Witchcraft and Wizardry after that date to
 match
 any
additional information in that book about Hogwarts.
I am hoping with David back working on the game it will not be too
 long
before version 1.0 of Sarah is released.
I am still trying to think of what to do with all the toilets I am
 putting
into the castle. Yes they do flush and some of them are broken and one
 stall
is being used for mixing a magical potion.
Do you think it would be too much to have Sarah do what she would
 naturally
 do on a toilet?

Srith seems to be really cool. Could someone please tell me a little more?
I’d like to know how to start playing and where to find it. I’ve been
looking for an online adventure game to play. My fiancé plays World of
Warcraft, but that game doesn’t work with Jaws.

Please get back to me. Also, I don’t know how to log in to Audio Tips. I
tried to install the chat software to play D and D, but it doesn’t work.
Help!

Happy gaming everyone!

Re: [Audyssey] looking for new game to play

2007-02-02 Thread Dark
Hello.

I can't help with Audio tips, but as reguards Sryth, it is Imho, probably
the only really exploration based text Rpg on the net (world of warcraft is
a full mainstream style game with graffics etc, so no screen reader would
work).

In Sryth, you create your charactor choose his/her skills and powers, then
wander about the world going to different locations. There are of course
many enemies and monsters to fight, armour and weapons, but Sryth is a hole
lot more than a symple stat grinding game.

For a start, there are various quests you can undertake, which can be as
simple as clearing a barn of a rat infestation or as complex as the
obligatory dungeon adventure.

The game runs through an interface much like a heavily extended version of a
gamebook, with different pages of text for the different locations or events
in the game, all described in rather well written text. If you've ever
played something like Lone wolf or Fighting fantasy or The Chronicals of
Arborell (and if not why not?), you'll recognize Sryth's style.

Te game also however features an rpg style system of charactor stats,
powers, levels, and some DD style dice rolling.

The only minor downside is that the game is not entirely free. There's quite
a bit of free game content (a good couple of weeks of adventuring), but then
to get access to the other game locations and features you'll need to pay a
subscription.

However sinse the subscription is only $10 a year (about £6 for me), it
shouldn't rupture your bank.

anyway, why am I telling you all this when you can just go and try it for
youself?

would you mind please using my refferral lin? If you choose to subscribe, it
means that my charactor can advance a bit (she needs it).

You need to make sure you install the dot net 2.0 framework then the
latest directx libraries. It's very important that you do it in that
order because once dot net is installed, the directx libraries will
download files specific to dot net.

Hope this helps.

Re: [Audyssey] new game

2007-02-02 Thread Dark
Oh sorry, here's the plain link, minus referral stuff. this one certainly
works (it's on my favourites list).

I'm afraid Sryth is purely and symply a single player game, no cooperation,
or Pvp as in wow (my brother's a pretty serious Wow player).

http://www.sryth.com/
The only two major problems with Sryth are that the experience system can
make the game unbalanced, especially trying to get experience for powers and
skills you don't use in combat.

also, while there is a lot to do in the game and updates are relatively
frequent with a new adventure or other content turning up roughly once every
three weeks or so, there's no way it can compare to something like Wow for
size or complexity, but it's probably the closest thing to a true Rpg
available on the net, as opposed to all those stat crunching and resource
manage games that pretend to be rpg's. It's just a shame that there are
absolutely no other games like it (or not as far as I know anyway)

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

When the game starts, find the axe in the first room, you've already
done that. Then break down the door and go into the next room. Kill
the robot that is there and flip the switch. I know you've got this far
but am just writing it down for my own clarity.

Now, go back into the first room and you will find that the electric
barrier on the other door that you should have heard before is now
replaced by a buzzer. You can walk in here and there are exits on both
sides. The right one leads to a room with a terminal that you need to
use and a guard you need to kill. The left one takes you to the
elevator to the next floor but be careful there is a guard in there too.

This should get you to the next floor where I am currently somewhat
stuck.
