 Hey all

I was wondering if anyone has a clue about how to pass the giants part
 2?
I've made it through the dungeon area with little problem but those golems
look like they'd kick my backside! I've gotten the verse together as
 well.
Are the black gems worth anything anymore? I have one though don't
 recall
geting it but I thought Runeskin and such adventures were over?
Lastly What can one try in the realm of Kyle Thanor? I found the two
Thanorians, and fought with Ironfist, there now doesn't seem much to do
except go on patrol with the city Militia.

  Any answers ar welcome. thanks!

 Ron

I may someday create just the chess board without the chess engine just to see

[Audyssey] New rhythm-action audio game. Need some testers to help with research project.

2007-06-17 Thread Daniel Miller
Hello all.
I’ve just finished developing a prototype version of a Rhythm-Action audio game
that I am using as a research project for my graduation at the University of
Oregon. I learned of this mailing list from a kind person on the
audiogames.net forums. I have two versions of the game up and running. I was
wondering if anyone here would be wonderful enough to play the games and answer
a few short questions that will help me improve the design.

Here is the URL for the download page:
http://www.cs.uoregon.edu/~dmiller6/FingerDance/fd.html

There are instructions on how to download and set up the game on this site.
You will need an unzipping tool to decompress the files. I recommend WinZip or
7-Zip, but any tool that can handle .ZIP files should work fine. This project
was developed in JAVA, so it should work on just about any platform. However,
initial tests on MAC systems have been problematic so it is only recommended
that you download and play this game on a Windows machine running Windows 2000
or any newer version.

There are two versions of the game, FingerDance1 and FingerDance2. Each
version uses different cue sounds that will tell you when and how to play along
with the game’s song. Before you play, you can listen to a short instructional
description of the game. Also, the readme.txt file included with in the zip
file has more instructions and hints on how to play. Also, it helps to have a
good pair of headphones since the game makes use of stereo to convey the cue
sounds. Please note that these games are still very early in development and
serve as a testing environment so that I can experiment with different play
styles for these types of rhythmical audio games.

If anyone is interested, I would really appreciate some feed back by having you
respond to the following questions after playing the each version of the game:

Were the instructions helpful in teaching you how to play the games?

How long did it take you to have a good understanding of how to play each
version of the game?

Which version, FingerDance1 or FingerDance2, was easier to play and why?

If you played each game more than once, what was your score the first time you
played it and what was your score the last time you played it? The score will
be spoken at the end of the game in terms of a ranking. For example, you score
could be terrible, pretty good, very good, or incredible.

Were the games fun and/or interesting?

Do you think that the gameplay ideas presented by FingerDance could be used to
make a fun Rhythm-Action audio game that you would like to play?

If you could, how would you improve these games?

Any responses would be much appreciated. I’m currently writing up a research
paper that is going to be submitted to the ASSETS conference on accessible
software development in October. I’ve had some people test the game but none
of them were true audio gamers, so your feed back would be extremely helpful!

You can respond to me by email at dmiller6[at]uoregon.edu

Thanks

I Googled the site, and you're absolutely right, they do have backgammon,

especially since I've bought Sarah and Chillingham this month, but I may do
it, since I love backgammon, and always wanted to be a better checkers
player.

Have you heard any reviews of these games and how well they play?

Hi Laura.

You can download a demo of the backgammon game from Asabat software and try
it out, though it will cut out after about five minutes of play.

Just go to: http://www.azabat.co.uk/

and you'll find it in the downloads section. I also believe there was a
pretty good review of all the asabat games in one of the Audeasy mags,
but I'm afraid I can't remember which.

Hth.

They play very well. I did a review of them quite a while ago. I
particularly like Backgammon. Keep in mind however that you get good
implementations of the basic games. There aren't all the frills sighted

said, I've found particularly volume four with all the board games very
enjoyable.

Hi Lora

There is a demo of backgammon available from Azabat. I'm pretty sure that
Mike has the game, so he'd be able to talk further about it. Not sure what
the demo limits might be. you can download a zip to try it out first. Then
purchase a code for the game. You'll also need a sapi voice to play. I
think there was a review of the games in Audyssey #48 or 49.

Thanks. Maybe we can convince them to implement other enhanced features
over time. For instance, there are other versions of backgammon where the
pieces don't start at the same points, or where the doubling cube is used,
etc.

Nonetheless, I've always wanted to play backgammon against the computer, so
this is a good starting point.

Re: [Audyssey] Backgammon Game

2007-06-17 Thread Lora
Hi Dark,

OK, I downloaded the demo, and started in on a game, and as soon as I was
hooked, the demo ended.

You know what this means, of curse. I must go buy the key.

Off to do that in a minute. I wish some of the other games were available
this way.

Thanks for the tip about downloading.

Lora

Hth.

Beware the Grue!

I Googled the site, and you're absolutely right, they do have backgammon,
checkers, and several other interesting games. It's a little expensive,
especially since I've bought Sarah and Chillingham this month, but I may
 do
it, since I love backgammon, and always wanted to be a better checkers
 player.

Have you heard any reviews of these games and how well they play?

 Tanks for the tip.

What is the possibility for a backgammon game? That would be a lot of

I don't think there's one out there already.

 Just wondering.

Hope this time will be the right time!
Hope it's July from switzerland and not from Naples! *smiles*
Well I explain this, we say from switzerland for a matter of clocks'
precision, if it's 0:00 it's 0:00.
and, we (north of italy) tease people from Naples (in the south) because we
say they are always late, so, July from Switzerland is July
July from Naples is September, or October! *smiles*
Richard and folks, I am just kidding, I know the difference between

upset/angry with. Continue working, and hope you'll get the whole product soon.

 Hi Ron,

I don't but perhaps Michiel does if you copy-paste it literally. So
 perhaps
write a summary of it yourself? Btw, when's the next issue? Maybe AGM is
 already available for download then?

 Hi Richard

Great news on the AGM front! Glad it's still coming along and being
developed. I was wondering if you or Michiel would object if I include
 the
update in the next Audysey issue?

 Thanks
 Ron

 Hi Dark,

OK, I downloaded the demo, and started in on a game, and as soon as I was
 hooked, the demo ended.

You know what this means, of curse. I must go buy the key.

Off to do that in a minute. I wish some of the other games were available
 this way.

Thanks for the tip about downloading.

 Lora

 Hi Laura.

You can download a demo of the backgammon game from Asabat software and
 try
it out, though it will cut out after about five minutes of play.

 Just go to: http://www.azabat.co.uk/

and you'll find it in the downloads section. I also believe there was a
pretty good review of all the asabat games in one of the Audeasy
 mags,
 but I'm afraid I can't remember which.

 Hth.

 Beware the Grue!

 Dark.

 Hi Jim,

What is the possibility for a backgammon game? That would be a lot of
 fun.
I don't think there's one out there already.

 Just wondering.

Re: [Audyssey] mud that scott put up the other day.

2007-06-17 Thread ian and riggs
hi michael you do not down load them you get a thing called a mud client
which is a programe that you down load on to your computer go to
www.randylaptop.com and their isa mud cliant on their called which i think
is what most people use. i will foward the info to the list about the game
it would be nice to see as may people join as possable as their are hardly
many players and it is good because you just walk round killing the enameys
odveyasly if i am in team nato and you are you would not kill me. i have not
played the mud very much but it seems okay and this isa chance for the blind
gamers world to inhabbit a mud as no one plays it.
