Re: [Audyssey] super mario brothers public beta.

2007-08-24 Thread Shadow Dragon
Its nothing impressive. It already ruins the spirit of mario because there
aren't any coins to pick up, and the jumping system is extremely weird. Its
almost like you don't actually go into the air for whatever reason. I can't
even get past level 2.

Re: [Audyssey] super mario brothers public beta.

2007-08-24 Thread Shadow Dragon
A footstep sound would've taken away from the classic feel of the game. The
cliff sound is understandable but even then I think they used an actual game
sound to signify a cliff. And they have blocks to break, if they had coins
and a much better umping system, and good music I'd love the game. But as it
stands... nah. Not really worth it.

2007-08-24 Thread blind guy
Awesome! Awesome awesome awesome, you should send everyone on list a
copy on sendspace. It'll be great. even though it's not worth it from
what people say, cmmon, people might think differently. and yes, it
is gonna be different with a level editor and all that good stuff
soon.

Re: [Audyssey] super mario brothers public beta.

2007-08-24 Thread Shadow Dragon
Once again, that spoils the spirit of super mario bros. I dunno, from what
I've seen in the past from these guys, this game isn't going to be anything
special. I'm sort of judging based on Elemental Battle and Dragon Warrior,
two games I could never get into. I realize that Mario is a public beta, but
there's a lot that needs to be done with it before it becomes anywhere near
playable yet still retains its classic feel.

Re: [Audyssey] rail racer

2007-08-24 Thread Mark Pemberton
hi ron, here's an old posting that should give u the answer.

Hi all.
This applies to all games using directx 9c latest version, maybe
earlier and the dotnet framework 2.0 and 1.1.
Today microsoft released new security updates to dotnet 1.1 sp1 and
dotnet 2.0sp2.
After installing these updates you will need to reinstall the
directx9 june install package in order for dx to take advantage of
the new updates.
If you do not you will get errors.
And railracer will not run.
On a side note if you use vista or xp and have a processer problem or
your system is causing greef there is a processer support update to
fix a windows crash with data transfer.
I know for those that read the tech blog I am on that I would usually
post to this first but in the interest in keeping traffic down on the
list I thought I'd post this before any major issues come out.

Re: [Audyssey] Problem with stfc1.2

2007-08-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Alex,
Keep in mind prier to 1.0's release I had hardware/software issues
which resulted in the total loss of the STFC 1.0 source code. So what
everyone agreed to do at the time is to release the latest beta as 1.0,
and rewrite the game scratch for 2.0 to resolve any remaining bugs in 1.0.
In STFC 1.2 I was of course unable to modify the code, but I was able to
modify the sounds, documentation, voice files, which resulted in the new
release you see.
I'd be happy to fix any and all issues for STFC 1.x, but they will have
to wait for 2.0 when I will have a new source code and engine to work with.

[Audyssey] Moderator one liner messages was super mario

2007-08-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi all,
This is a reminder to please keep one liner messages to a minimum on the
list. I'm seeing allot of messages like, "I do as well," "I know," "me
to," and this needs to stop.
This list is very high traffic, and the one liner messages really don't
add much to the conversation or topic on hand.
Thanks.

[Audyssey] Air Hockey

2007-08-24 Thread Ken the Crazy
I have Wrecking Ball on hold for a while so that I can make an air hockey game.
The AI is almost complete, but the real reason I'm doing this is to get some
experience with setting up mouse support. That's right, call me mister
wizard--I'm about to turn your mouse into an air hockey paddle.
In rail racer, the cars move fast--but you'll have to have even faster reflexes
to guard those goals and make some yourself. Of course, my standard keyboard
interface is still in place as well, just like in Wrecking Ball.
Once Air Hockey is done, I'll put mouse support in Wrecking Ball and um, we'll
have a ball!

[Audyssey] My gameRecording of Private Detective School

2007-08-24 Thread Søren Jensen
Hi.
I have just recorded a long gameRecording of Private Detective School. It's
long time since I have played it, so I was a little bit stock in the game. I
haven't edit the recording yet, so it's maybee bored. I'm wandering if I should
upload it, keep it as it is so you can hear what I do when I'm stock, or
should I edit it so you'll don't be confused when I was stock?
Personly I think gameRecordings and reviews is best when you keep the original
one, but what do you say?
You also have to know it's not possable for me to make a good gameRecording of
this game without makeing spoilers, or show you how to do some of the puzzles.
I have just recorded a little part of the game. If I show you all the rooms at
the school, I'm sure you'll be bored. You have also access to the whole school
in
the demo version of the game.
Please note:
I completed the part of the demo version, and continued my mission in the full
version of the game. I think this will get more of you interrested in the
game. So if you don't want to hear how to complete the demo, I don't recommend
you to hear the recording. The game is so hard to figure out of your own,
so this is another reason for I show you how to complete the demo. If you don't
believe me, just try to complete the demo version of your own before you
listen to my recording.
I'll just ask you if I should edit the recording or not before I upload it .
Best regards Søren.

Re: [Audyssey] Problem with stfc1.2

2007-08-24 Thread Trenton Matthews
Speaking of v1.2, how come the manual doesn't say any ting about the options
in the "settings" menu? I'm always a fan of turnning off the menus in STFC,
makes game pl seem more real. By the way, any mention of the keys when menus
are turnned off would be high paprociative to add in the next update of the
manual. Like the weapnos, which I'm happy that they are all on the number's

Subject: [Audyssey] My gameRecording of Private Detective School

Hi.
I have just recorded a long gameRecording of Private Detective School. It's
long time since I have played it, so I was a little bit stock in the game. I
haven't edit the recording yet, so it's maybee bored. I'm wandering if I
should upload it, keep it as it is so you can hear what I do when I'm stock,
or
should I edit it so you'll don't be confused when I was stock?
Personly I think gameRecordings and reviews is best when you keep the
original one, but what do you say?
You also have to know it's not possable for me to make a good gameRecording
of this game without makeing spoilers, or show you how to do some of the
puzzles.
I have just recorded a little part of the game. If I show you all the rooms
at the school, I'm sure you'll be bored. You have also access to the whole
school
in
the demo version of the game.
Please note:
I completed the part of the demo version, and continued my mission in the
full version of the game. I think this will get more of you interrested in
the
game. So if you don't want to hear how to complete the demo, I don't
recommend you to hear the recording. The game is so hard to figure out of
your own,
so this is another reason for I show you how to complete the demo. If you
don't believe me, just try to complete the demo version of your own before
you
listen to my recording.
I'll just ask you if I should edit the recording or not before I upload it .
Best regards Søren.

Re: [Audyssey] Problem with stfc1.2

2007-08-24 Thread Trenton Matthews
I'm wondering if the "warp" sound could be updated in the next version.
Also, will there be sounds of the computer voice from the star trek series?
I'll round up the link for that if you'd like me to.

Re: [Audyssey] super mario brothers public beta.

2007-08-24 Thread Trenton Matthews
Well folks, as in the NES and SNES series of games, there were no sounds in
Mario Brothers and Mario world that included walking. Unless you consider
the fact in Mario Brothers 3 and Mario world when you're walking around in
the game menus getting from area to area.
Now if ya shall excuse me everyone, I have a classic game to download! Lets
hope this is good!
And I'm happy the web site is back up!

[Audyssey] Super Mario Brothers, and Web Archive Links Confusion

2007-08-24 Thread Trenton Matthews
Well well, I actually tricked myself into the ktinking that the archived web
site was the real one! Eek! Any idea of placing the words "archived version"
and then a "comma" after that, followed by the usual stuff? It just seems
confusing when when two links say the same thing. I think I'll do the same
in the galaxy as well, so I don't get convused.

[Audyssey] Question Regarding Alter Aeon

2007-08-24 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi,
I'm thinking about getting on Alter Aeon, although I can't think
of a good nickname for my character. Anyway, I was wondering if
there's anything to be careful of during the game such as when
disconnecting? For instance, with Miriani, it's recommended that when
you disconnect, you should be in your starship, which in turn should
be landed on a planet. (I found this out the hard way.)
Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,
Kelly John Sapergia

[Audyssey] STFC 2.0 was Problem with stfc

2007-08-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Josh,
Yes, STFC 2.0 will still be primarily menu driven. There are however
many changes under the hood that 1.0 and 1.2 didn't have.

1. Sapi 5.0 support.
2. Ability to save up to 10 games.
3. Based on Star Trek Next Generation.
5. Ability to detect cloaked enemy ships in certain cases.
6. More classes of Borg ships.
7. Hull integrety.
8. Antimatter mine fields.

Those are just some of the major changes I can think of off the top of
my head.

Re: [Audyssey] Problem with stfc1.2

2007-08-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Trenton,
I knew I forgot to add something in 1.2. (Grin)
I agree using hot keys rather than menus makes the game move faster, and
is allot nicer. Thjis is actually a hold over from one of the early
betas where the game was originally designed without menus.
New players wanted menus like Trek 2000 I added them, and very few have
ever asked about using the game with no menus.
However, allot of the hot keys for non-menued mode are pretty strait
forward.

1 fire phasers
2 fire photon torpedoes
3 fire quantum torpedoes
4 autodestruct
5 cloak
A Set autopilut
C Set Course
I Set Impulse
L Long Range Sensors
Q Quit Game
R restock weapons
S Short Range Sensors
U Status Report
W Set Warp

[Audyssey] STFC 2.0 was Problem with stfc

2007-08-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Trenton,
Yes, I could on both accounts, but I need to clarify something about the
warp sound. the warp sound STFC 1.x is using is the TNG sound for the
Galaxy and Nebula class ships. DS9 and Voyager warp sounds are
different. If the game were staying in the DS9 era I would certainly up
date it.
However, do to the work involved, the fact I am a big TNG fan, I have
elected to make 2.0 stay in the TNG era. So the warp sounds will be
quite appropriate for the game.
As you may or may not have noticed many of the Enemy ships in STFC 1.0
came from TNG. The Terix for example was seen in the Pegasus. The Kazara
came from Face of the Enemy. The Trager was seen in the Wounded. The
Goraxus was seen in Redemption II.
Bottom line the game is more or less more fitting in the late TNG early
DS9 era rather than the late DS9 era.
Speaking of that I could add in some of our favorite Runabouts from DS9
like Orinoco or the Rio Grand as support ships. Not that they make much
of a fight for top of the line Romulans, Borg, etc.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 was Problem with stfc

2007-08-24 Thread Josh
sounds nice. It'll be fun to play when it comes out, but in the meantime I
still really enjoy stfc 1.2.
But if I may make a suggestion, it seems like scansoft Karen really doesn't
fit with the game. I prefer an american voice. Also, it would add to the fun
of the game if you could add an effect to all the voices to make it sound
like they're coming out of a small speaker, like the star trek computer
voice sounds on the tv show. This is just my opinion, but I think not having
the voices echo and adding this effect will make it sound even more
authentic that and using an American voice. I think the australian voice is
a bit out of place for the game.

Re: [Audyssey] Problem with stfc1.2

2007-08-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun,
Correct. It is from the TNG era, and it is still used on many of the
ships of the DS9era. Voyager has a different warp sound, but keep in
mind in the epasode Care Taker Janeway had explained that the Voyager
was the fastest ship in the fleet doing warp 9.975, and has that new
style of warp engine. In fact, the warp pylons change location depending
on if Voyager is in warp or impulse.
After Voyager aired we began seeing more of that style of ship, The
Intrepid-Class, on DS9 during the Dominion war.
So the warp sound in STFC 1.2 is quite alright for the game as far as
correct era goes.

Re: [Audyssey] Question Regarding Alter Aeon

2007-08-24 Thread john snowling
Hi Kelly.

As Liam said being either at recall in the newbie part of the game or a way
point this is another location in the game where you can type pray here andn
then recall to that location by typing way and the number.

I play alter aeon and get plenty of enjoyment out of it. You can level in
what ever class you like but you don't have to stick to leveling the same
class throughout the game. One of my characters wex she is a level 19 mage
level 23 cleric level 12 warrior and level 8 thief.

Hope you start the game.
