Re: [Audyssey] Top Speed Question

2007-10-22 Thread ari
OK, we'll probably be going off-topic here, but how do I access it? I've
installed FileZilla, but have never used it before. I type in the username
and password, port number and address into filezilla, and choose quick
connect. It then tells me connecting, I get a welcome message, and then it
tells me it times out. Also, what do you mean by no passive mode, what
setting is that, could that be the problem?
Thanks
Ari

Looks like Sun is considering doing some fixes to their Java Access Bridge.
Below is a quote from Peter Korn, their team leader.
I got it from the Sun Accessibilty mailing list we subscribe to.

Any developer or gamer who has issues with the Java Access Bridge, might
contact Peter at: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Heres' Peter's email:

We are collecting bugs and RFEs for the Access Bridge, as we review
whether and when to release an update to it. Thank you for your

suggest a fix to the code, please do so - you can send it directly to
me, or paste it into a bug report that you might file for this).

Re: [Audyssey] Web site with audio games?

2007-10-22 Thread Ken the Crazy
I agree also. If I put up a game that was freeware, like the air hockey
game, I'd have no problem whatsoever if people were able to download it even
after I couldn't provide it anymore. Take World of Darkness. Many people
wanted that game for a long time, but since my last computer was stolen I
couldn't distribute it. If someone could have had it on a website I would
have had no issues at all with them getting the game.

Hi.

There is not a english version of
www.coolfortheblind.dk yet. If you head over to:
http://www.coolfortheblind.dk/Spil.htm
I think you'll get a little bit more useful informations. I have set up the
layout in the following way:
You can jump from company to company by pressing the letter h for jump to
the next heading. I have put up direct download links to most of the games
on the site, so it should be very easy for newbies to download what they
want. I have put direct links up to the companys website, direct links to
informations about each game and direct download links. I hope you can get
some useful informations from the website. I will maybee make a english
version of it, if you find it useful.

 Hey Tom

Maybe this might encourage a few folks to step up to the plate and write
up their thoughts and feelings on a side scroler styled game. It would be
some welcome input for certain. I always like seeing what people think of
games currently available and such stuff.

Hi Ron,
Glad to hear you are back and working on the next release of the mag. I
have an idea for a few articles I can place in the mag. Though, I'm
working full time on Monty now trying to reach a Christmas release date.
I'd be very interested in what people have to say about Montezuma's
Revenge, and on classic side-scrollers in general. I rather like the
side-scroller style and would like to know if the gamers out there are
into them as well.

[Audyssey] WishBringer text based adventure game

2007-10-22 Thread acarthon
Hi list,
It's AC. I am wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to get a
copy of the Text adventure "WishBringer"? It's the game where you start
off at the top of a hill I believe and travel around the town with a
magic stone, which you have to get out of a can. I believe you get 3
wishes from it. It was the first adventure game I ever played back in the
80s. Can I play it using Windows XP Home Edition SP2?
I will appreciate any help/guidance.
Thanks,
AC

Re: [Audyssey] WishBringer text based adventure game

2007-10-22 Thread Dark
Hi Ac.

If I remember rightly, Wishbringer is one of the enchanter games in the Zork
series from infocom, the same that featured my ravenous friend, the Grue!

You can find all of the infocom games at http://if.illuminion.de/index.html

To play them in windows, all you need is the Win frotz interpretter, (which
will also let you play lots of other text adventure games written in Zcode
format).

there are lots of places to get Win Frotz.

If you want the standard Win frotz that you'll need to use a screen reader
to use, I suggest http://www.microheaven.com/IFGuide/IFGuide.pl?step=6&c=0

which also provides a nice selection of If games for you to try out.

for a more complete site on if, try http://www.wurb.com/if/

If on the other hand you'd prefer the win frotz tts that outputs directly to
ms sapi, you can get it from http://www.whitestick.co.uk/text.html

I hope all this is of some use to you.

Beware the Grue! (particularly if you are venturing Zorkwards),

Dark.

[Audyssey] new Rail Racer tournament

2007-10-22 Thread Che
  Hi all,
There is a new rail racer tournament starting for all racers that did not
finish in the top ten of our last tournament. If you didn't race in the
tournament at all, you can join this one as well.
Just go to the tournaments page of blind adrenaline and sign up for the
tier 2 tournament listed there.
Here is the link for the tournaments page:
http://www.blindadrenaline.com/tournaments/index.php

If you haven't registered yet, be sure and do that first, as you won't be
able to join until your nick name is in the system.
Please note, this is only for the full version of the game, the demo
version does not allow tournament play.
  Later,
  Che

[Audyssey] Fw: Re: WishBringer text based adventure game

2007-10-22 Thread acarthon
Hi Dark,
I tried the link for the infocom games and got the following error.

Error 403

You have moved into a dark place.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue. Flee to the
main page
 and try again.

I clicked on the main page link, and got the same page and error.
I will try the other link to see if it works.
I tried the other link and it works, but there is no Wishbringer download
to be found.
Any other websites to check out?
Thanks,
AC

[Audyssey] ChooseYourStory.com - Make and play Choose-Your-Own Adventures

2007-10-22 Thread Orin
Hi all,

For those of you who are interested in creating gamebooks, this is the place.
There isn't many people signed up, or maybe they are, just aren't online, but
there's lots of new stories coming. It's got a nice rating system, it's got a
wizard to help you create stories, and you can duel each other online for some
fun.

I would, if you're into modern adventure, recommend you play "Mommy, can I go
out and kill tonight?" which is a crime-related gamebook. You've also got
Ground Zero, which is a long sci-fi interactive novel.

Keep in mind that you'll also find some stories that simply aren't worth your
time, people make different quizzes and stuff. I'm there for action and
adventure.

I'll be making stories soon; join me at
http://www.ChooseYourStory.com

Enjoy!

well considering how many knights, and how quickly they showed up I'm
thinking it's better then in previous versions.

Re: [Audyssey] Fw: Re: WishBringer text based adventure game

2007-10-22 Thread Dark
Hi Ac.

Oooh dear, somebody has a very bad sense of humer with their error messages.

I tried the page again just now though, and it worked fine, - maybe it
was a temporary problem.

I can also send you wishbringer, or any of ther other infocom games if you
like.

the other link is for the Win frotz interpreter program, playing the game
could be incredibly difficult without it (especially in windows Xp anyway).

Go and download either Win frotz or Win frotz tts, and then if the iluminion
link doesn't work, let either myself or Thomas know and one of us can send
you the game.

Beware the Grue! (who's nastiness you now understand).

Dark.
