Thomas,

That seems to be the problem. I can get the server running, but noone can
connect. the router I use is manufactured by my ISP, and is not very
accessible. What I don't understand is, how can top speed go straight
through the firewall, without me doing any setup on the router, when sound
RTS can't?

Re: [Audyssey] Miriani - Patrick Fitzpatrick, the MAN, the MYTH, THE LEGEND?

2008-08-23 Thread constantine (on laptop)
Hi

Eh, I'm not complaining, because if I wanted to I could be just as bad- but
I don't. The thing for me is time. you spend time doing this, you spend time
upgrading this and making money to upgrade that. So then some big guy comes
along and destroys your ship. I really could care less and, quite frankly,
if someone came along and destroyed all of my ships I could care less. Its
only a game, afterall, and I can get them back in some way. Now if someone
were to say, come after me, strand me about 10 times a week as some people
have stated, I wouldn't whine and moan on this list, because you have just
as high of chance as say, like maybe pulsing there droid when they exit a
ship? Or like maybe just stay in your ship if things get too hot, its called
survival, dear.

Now, in terms of being who we are. I choose to be a guy who doesn't like to
get caught up in things too much, but who isn't willing to pay the big mean
old Patrick his cash, because I don't think, in character, that stranding
does any good and therefore, will not fund your little stranding acount. Of
course, this might conspire something in character but as I said. I could
honestly care less. People need to stop rerolling, because they have to
start all over again anyway, and can't upgrade there ships. is that a good
thing? it most certainly isn't because you'll just be accomplishing like
maybe, nothing?

While I'm on the subject, I'm of a mind to suggest that rerolling should
only be allowed so many times, due to the fact that people would use that as
an excuse if they got stranded for the first time to reroll, and then would
moan about it over ooc/general oh so and so strnaded me i hate this game i
think it is a peace of crap and all that stuff.
My character Buck is planning on getting a battlecruiser soon. I'm not going
to fight people with it- in character and out of character, i disagree with
that- but can't stop it and don't really want to, anyway. I'm a lover, not a
fighter, as some would say- but if I have to I can get nasty. But nobody
will ever make me delete, no matter what they do to me. If worst comes to
worst I have about oh, like 6 other muds to play. Strand me, stun me, i just
go play those other muds, and if things get hot and heavy on miriani, do the
same thing, or atmospheric salvage, or mine. honestly people if you don't
want to get stranded iether learn to defend yourself or do something that
won't involve flying your ship a lot such as planetary mining. I'm not
meaning to be offensive but honestly all this whining annoys me, especially
because if we wanted we could get rid of patrick. But then again! Miriani's
history will be much different without him, and I find him entertaining over
chatter. That's all I gotta say. I'm just getting a bit annoyed about people
whining about how hble he is! I find it amusing quite frankly.

Exactly the attitude when I take. In fact, that was the reason I stopped
playing Miriani for a while... I found there were too many people who
complained about being wiped out and hounded constantly. So I would say they

Re: [Audyssey] Miriani - Patrick Fitzpatrick, the MAN, the MYTH, THE LEGEND...

2008-08-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
My feelings exactly. Personally, it has been my experience the guys who
get attacked, blown up, sort of have it comeing to them. Either they act
too winy, they are absolute passifists, or they are trying to play as a
single player in a multiplayer universe. They need to understand if they
are going to join a pvp style game then there are bound to be other
players, characters, on their who will not value what they value. Your
ship is just a target to them to be blown up, and if you appear to be a
reject so much the better. Out there in the pvp world sometimes it is
kill or be killed or the survival of the toughest and smartest. Can't
hack it get out of the game.
Unfortunately, for me I run a pretty busy life, and don't have time to
hang around on muds these days. However, when I was looking at muds a
couple of years back I didn't get all wishy-washy when things didn't go
my way. My feeling was if I decided to stick with that mud I would get

Re: [Audyssey] Miriani - Patrick Fitzpatrick, the MAN, the MYTH, THE LEGEND...

2008-08-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Piotru,
No offense, but some might view your general attitude in this message
childish and a bit of a defeatest attitude. Come on it is just a game.
There is no need to get yourself so worked up, angry, and crying over
the fact your ship got blown up.
If I got angry, started crying, everytime I lost in a game or something
unexpected happened in the game i don't think playing games would be
that enjoyable. Well, Miriani is a player verses player game, and yes
there are some that like to bully other players on there. Well, instead
of getting yourself so worked up why not start over, save up the money,
and get yourself your own battle cruiser and blow him out of the galaxy.
Now, that earns you respect, and if you come off with a wining poor baby
me attitude you are painting a target on your back.
No one, including me, really likes having to put up with winers,
complainers, and those who scream fowel everytime they get bbeaten in a
game.
As others have said you need to stand up for yourself in a way that
earns you respect. Ifyou earn that respect the Patrick's of the world
will generally leave you alone. Respect is earned not given. So if you
come off to fellow players saying you are so upset you were crying over
loosing a ship I can pretty much guess they will say, "get a life, man."
The point of a game is to have fun. Yeah, it sucks lemons you lost your
ship. Big deal it can be replaced. You will just have to work hard
enough to get it back. Giving up and crying over it won't get your ship
back will it?

Re: [Audyssey] sound RTS

2008-08-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
No, it is pretty easy setting up a SoundRTS server. You basically go in
select new multiplayer game, select the map you want to play on wait,
for others to connect, and start the game. One thing though you will
want to make sure your ports are clear for network traffic. I want to
say it is port 7000 for SoundRTS network games.

[Audyssey] Moderator warning Miriani - Patrick Fitzpatrick,

2008-08-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi all,
You might do well to tone it down. No cussing and swaring is allowed on
this list. Future perfanity will result in certain people getting
moderated so I'd watch your language. It is one thing to be angry, but
quite another to use perfanity on a list with people of all ages and
religious backgrounds.

mauricio, consider this your first warning. I am not going to moderate you for
this offense, but any future breaches in the guidelines like this and you can
consider yourself on moderated status until further notice.

Re: [Audyssey] Miriani - Patrick Fitzpatrick, the MAN, the MYTH, THE LEGEND...

2008-08-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Patrick,
I have to agree here that a game is after all just a game. When you get
into the player verses player, pvp, kind of game you get a much wider
group of players that are each looking for something different out of
that game. I think many of the, shall we say complainers, haven't had
much experience dealing with the pvp style of play where part of the fun
is trying to evade and escape from those bloody pirates who will blast
your ship, leave you stranded, or otherwise terrorize your online
character. It is just a game, and I personally think pvp play is more
fun, because not all the enemies or trouble makers aren't AI driven drones.
So what if you want to play the part of a dirty pirate? All that means
is a player needs to be on guard, take proper safety precautions, and if
they get blown up they can start over and work their way back up again.
Challenging, but makes the game more interesting. We all win some we all
lose some.

I'm not going to try and advise people here, just give my two sense... I
agree with anyone else here who has said to calm down. A game is a game...

All I can say is, there's no point in going on about it... the way people
want to roleplay is up to them. If you don't like them... best thing to do?
Simply stay clear of them or avoid them. Now I suggest we close this thread
before this degenerates into a flame war, which is where this is probably
going to end up.

[Audyssey] Start your engines... remember! almost!!

2008-08-23 Thread Leonard de Ruijter
Hello folks,

After 2,5 years of absolute silence, we have planned to release Top
Speed 2.1 at the 6th of September. With 2 new cars, 5 new tracks, a new
exciting surface type, a heavily changed menu and more we don't talk about at
the moment, we hope you will enjoy playing Top Speed as never before. Also,
there are lots of bugs fixed. But before the release, we need your help.

Since it's hard to create cars for Top Speed that are realistic and
high quality, there are only 2 cars added. That's not enough, so it's
your turn to build a realistic and qualitative car. Send your car in a
zip-file with a good name and description to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] The best car we received before the
first of September will be integrated in the game. And, we want more.
We only have three cars received yet, and they aren't high quality enough
to implement.

 Happy building!

see a reason to complain about it either if it happens. Complaining and
wining and insulting the man who did it won't get your ship back. Ships are
replaceable, anything you lose you can easily gain back. Learn how to pilot,
get a bigger ship, get a crew for said ship and learn how to fight back.
That's what I did back in the days of castor. I've stopped playing the game

Re: [Audyssey] sound RTS

2008-08-23 Thread Casey Mathews
It is very easy. Just press enter on Server, then go to either simple server
where only you can create games, or public server where others can create
games. You can also create a private server and it won't be added to the
public list of servers.

Hope this helps.

I didn't meant ded in life, I meant banned from miriani.
wow, time to get more neutral I guess, fight when needed, defend if needed,
strand only if necessary.
You really should get neutral, but This is your character so, I can't do
anything about how you play.

yeah, that's you, but I know of many people that left cause of people like
drew anderson uh ... castor hemlock and Patrick.

The fact that the game has pvp elements in it doesn't mean he has todo what
he does. I 've never seen Patrick shoot at another battle cruiser or
gunship.
