I should also put in that its recomended you shut down any antivirus software
as a matter of course even the avg help says this.
At 02:28 p.m. 17/11/2008, you wrote:
you are using AVG free 8, right?

If AVG thinks a file is a virus, it locks the file.
My suggestion is to either completely disable AVG until you've installed the
game or to uninstall it and get new antivirus software.

[Audyssey] Night of Parasite, completed

2008-11-17 Thread Shadow Dragon
Well, for those of you who care, I just beat night of parasite. It's a
pretty awesome game. Sadly, and I kind of saw this coming, its incomplete.

S P O I L E R

After the third level you get a wait for the next version dialogue and a
save game thingy pops up. The final boss battle takes a lot more strategy
than the other boss battles. This one you absolutely can not sit there and
go toe to toe with the boss. You'd better have plenty of med's, lots of
ammo, and the most powerful gun you can find. It's a triple boss battle. For
those of you reading this, a heads up, don't make the same mistake I did,
save your pesticide ammo. You only get one shot, and you'll need it to kill
the mantis in the boss battle. Anyway, I'm done bragging shamelessly now.

Subject: [Audyssey] my Mortal kombat VS DC universe impression

Hey guys,
I got MK VS DC universe this morning, and here's what I think of it.
For those that have only played the newest mk titles, such as mk armageddon,
you'll find the game plays totally different. First thing to note is there
are no fighting styles. you have a single style just like in the older mk
games. The up and down arrows will jump and crouch respectively. However you
can still move in 3d by using the left analog stick, or by holding L2 while
using up and down on the dPad. Not sure if it's just me, but moving in 3d
feels kinda sluggish in this one. you can't dodge projectiles as easily as
you did in MKA or deception. There are also a variety of new modes to get
used to. First one is klose kombat, and this is basically a close quarters
fighting type thing. The camera pans in, and you beat your opponents in very
brutal ways up close. it's sorta of a guessing game, as you need to guess
which button your opponent will press to counter his/her moves. Next mode is
freefall kombat, and this is activated when you fall off an arena. it's
basically almost identical to klose kombat. only difference is you need to
fill up a meter which will allow you to activate character specific attacks
that will slam the opponent back to the ground. Last mode is rage, and
that's pretty self explanatory. when your rage meter fills up, you can
activate it by pressing R 2 plus L2. it'll deactivate your hit reaction
animations which will allow you to knock your opponent around for
approximately 6 seconds.
Next thing I'd like to discuss are the sounds. MK VS DC has some amazing
sounds. The punches and special moves sound a lot more realistic. however,
this too takes some getting used to as they are completely different from
older mk titles.
The story mode is completely accessible. they're just regular fights
intertwined with cutscenes. I've completed the DC side of story mode, and am
now working on MK.
There is also a combo challenge mode, which will allow you to master combos
obviously, plus some regular and pro moves. You won't be able to play this
without sighted assistance at this time for obvious reasons. perhaps
gamefaqs will have a walkthrough of it soon. I must say that it is extremely
difficult to pull off these moves guys. training mode in previous mk games
was a piece of cake compared to these. There's extreme timing involved.
a very disappointing aspect is online play, at least for me. The playing
itself is very solid, with no lag for the most part, but the lobby won't
allow you to voice chat. you basically just type messages back and forth
which we obviously can't do. Some reviews state that there's voice chat
support, but I haven't actually seen any. perhaps the opponents I fought
didn't have mics, who knows. It is also extremely hard to invite friends.
it's just basically huge rooms with lots of people on it that you can
challenge at any given time. keep in mind I'm discussing the ps3 version of
online play. xbox could be totally different. if anyone figures out a way to
make the online play a bit more blind friendly, then by all means, let me
know.
Think I've covered mostly everything. If you guys have any questions, feel
free to drop me an email.

Simple. Because with my full time job, I don't have the time to re convert
egg hunt back to direct x. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait. For what
it's worth, I'm just as anxious to get the games released.
You know. Maybe people could email the developer of streemway and convince

I should also put in that its recomended you shut down any antivirus
software as a matter of course even the avg help says this.

At 02:28 p.m. 17/11/2008, you wrote:

you are using AVG free 8, right?

If AVG thinks a file is a virus, it locks the file.
My suggestion is to either completely disable AVG until you've installed
the game or to uninstall it and get new antivirus software.

Hello,
I am having virus warnings, and am unable to install this game in Windows
Vista. I have turned off my antivirus program, but I still get cannot
access file because I might not have permission. Has anyone else had this
problem, and does anyone know how to solve it?

You will only need the antivirus turned off while you download/install the

That's still the latest version as far as I know. Unfortunately, standard
Winfrotz doesn't work all that well with screen readers anymore in my
experience. I haven't had any success in pursuading anyone in the IF
development community to create a solution more favorable to
screen-readers.

Afterall, unlike Eamon, the inform stuff is machine independent, it's

To confirm, winfrotz tts is still at v1.5.1

anyone know if Winfrotz tts 151 is stil the most recent version?

i checked the binery revelations site, and that seemed to be the most

Advice would be apprciated.

Oh, and yes I know, standard win frotz also works fine with screen

Speaking of top speed 2.1, has anybody come across this one? Whenever you
brake to a complete stop, you can't accelerate again. I tried it earlier
just to experiment with things, and I got that very problem. this isn't just
a top speed 2.1 error, it's been happening for me in the earlier version

Your custom cars will continue to work normally in v2.1.
As for the tracks: just try it! Both the road type and the track surface
have one new value added to them in sequence.

I have a question.
If a new physics model is being implemented, will the old car add-on
files still work or will we have to redo them.

What about the track files. Are their any new textures or numerical

Hi All,
I've been an occasional poster and avid archive browser on this list for
quite some time now. I unsubscribed a while back due to excessive traffic,
but I feel I might be able to chance it here again.
I've been looking over the archives lately and noticed some interesting
discussion of the game called Night of Parasite. It does sound quite
interesting, but I've been out of luck trying to get it. Downloading is
slow as can be and sometimes stops for no particular reason.
That being said, I wonder if anybody on list here might be able to send
me a copy and/or post it on Sendspace or some other such site? (I don't
know if the license permits this, but I'd hope so. I don't want to step on
anybody's legal toes here.)

Glad to be back again. We'll see how long I last this time.
Best,
Zack.

Hey guys,
I got MK VS DC universe this morning, and here's what I think of it.
For those that have only played the newest mk titles, such as mk
armageddon,
you'll find the game plays totally different. First thing to note is
there
are no fighting styles. you have a single style just like in the
older mk
games. The up and down arrows will jump and crouch respectively.
However you
can still move in 3d by using the left analog stick, or by holding
L2 while
using up and down on the dPad. Not sure if it's just me, but moving
in 3d
feels kinda sluggish in this one. you can't dodge projectiles as
easily as
you did in MKA or deception. There are also a variety of new modes
to get
used to. First one is klose kombat, and this is basically a close
quarters
fighting type thing. The camera pans in, and you beat your opponents
in very
brutal ways up close. it's sorta of a guessing game, as you need to
guess
which button your opponent will press to counter his/her moves. Next
mode is
freefall kombat, and this is activated when you fall off an arena.
it's
basically almost identical to klose kombat. only difference is you
need to
fill up a meter which will allow you to activate character specific
attacks

that will slam the opponent back to the ground. Last mode is rage, and
that's pretty self explanatory. when your rage meter fills up, you can
activate it by pressing R 2 plus L2. it'll deactivate your hit
reaction

animations which will allow you to knock your opponent around for
approximately 6 seconds.
Next thing I'd like to discuss are the sounds. MK VS DC has some
amazing
sounds. The punches and special moves sound a lot more realistic.
however,
this too takes some getting used to as they are completely different
from

older mk titles.
The story mode is completely accessible. they're just regular fights
intertwined with cutscenes. I've completed the DC side of story
mode, and am

now working on MK.
There is also a combo challenge mode, which will allow you to master
combos
obviously, plus some regular and pro moves. You won't be able to
play this

without sighted assistance at this time for obvious reasons. perhaps
gamefaqs will have a walkthrough of it soon. I must say that it is
extremely
difficult to pull off these moves guys. training mode in previous mk
games
was a piece of cake compared to these. There's extreme timing
involved.
a very disappointing aspect is online play, at least for me. The
playing
itself is very solid, with no lag for the most part, but the lobby
won't
allow you to voice chat. you basically just type messages back and
forth
which we obviously can't do. Some reviews state that there's voice
chat
support, but I haven't actually seen any. perhaps the opponents I
fought
didn't have mics, who knows. It is also extremely hard to invite
friends.

it's just basically huge rooms with lots of people on it that you can
challenge at any given time. keep in mind I'm discussing the ps3
version of
online play. xbox could be totally different. if anyone figures out
a way to
make the online play a bit more blind friendly, then by all means,
let me

know.
Think I've covered mostly everything. If you guys have any
questions, feel

free to drop me an email.

Re: [Audyssey] Where to download Night of Parasites?

2008-11-17 Thread shaun everiss
ok guys.
for future archival purposes here is the game.
I recomend you go to the index page first.
http://audiogames.net/db.php?id=Night+of+Parasite
This is a small manual on the game, with description and some keys.
Its better than the translated manual.
you can also get the game from here.
YOu can also directly get it at.
http://www.xldmrw.cn/up/updown/NOP24.exe
use getright or other manager, and if there is a sector download or segment
download option, max it.
In getright I maxed it without mirrors to 4, it stoppped and started but
eventually got done.

Re: [Audyssey] Night of Parasite, completed

2008-11-17 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hey all

Have gotten past level 1 in the game. I'm not sure if there is really
anything one can do with the electric box though. It's not all that
difficult I think.
Level 2 however seems to be somewhat smaller. Is this just me or did I
not get all that far in it?
Lastly how far does the game go? Is 3 the last level? If so I hope it's
further developed as the game seems alot of fun. Reminding me of SOD.

Take care
Ron

After the third level you get a wait for the next version dialogue and a
save game thingy pops up. The final boss battle takes a lot more strategy
than the other boss battles. This one you absolutely can not sit there and
go toe to toe with the boss. You'd better have plenty of med's, lots of
ammo, and the most powerful gun you can find. It's a triple boss battle.
For those of you reading this, a heads up, don't make the same mistake I
did, save your pesticide ammo. You only get one shot, and you'll need i

No, level two is quite big. Many of the rooms have more than 3 exits.

ok guys.
for future archival purposes here is the game.
I recomend you go to the index page first.
http://audiogames.net/db.php?id=Night+of+Parasite
This is a small manual on the game, with description and some keys.
Its better than the translated manual.
you can also get the game from here.
YOu can also directly get it at.
http://www.xldmrw.cn/up/updown/NOP24.exe
use getright or other manager, and if there is a sector download or
segment download option, max it.
In getright I maxed it without mirrors to 4, it stoppped and started but
eventually got done.

Re: [Audyssey] Where to download Night of Parasites?

2008-11-17 Thread shaun everiss
yeah there are parts of the game etc that I think can be translated.
maybe someone can help the dev, maybe richard or someone can pass comments to
this guy.
I accept he uses english as his second language.
Maybe someone can help him with the translations.
The game translations are rough but usable.
Ok so I won't go at him for that however.
Even though stuff in the game, ie symbols buttons may not be able to be
translated, shortcuts to uninstall the game can be named as such,
The installer/uninstaller can be changed using something like innosetup to be
multilingual quite easily.
In fact the guy could write this in his native language and it would probably
work fine.
The manual could be translated properly, right now its like the game, real
rough but you can't use it per say neither the guidance although its a little
help.
So all we need to is get him to do it or ask for permtion to translate the
manuals and installers to english, properly, obviously we can't do much about
the game
We could make the installer smaller with the innosetup system.
This is not to insolt the dev of this game but to improve it.
If I knew what else bar the game files are necessary for install then I
probably could translate the inosetup script, its really not to hard.
Really just a few names, maybe some edits and menu pushes and I would have the
stuff.

Re: [Audyssey] Night of Parasite, completed

2008-11-17 Thread Matheus
Hi ron
yes, it's just the three chapter the last, but maybe he will add more
chapters and if so, like 6 or 7 chapters i, personaly, will like much
more than sod. i awreade like it more than sod bekause the rp elements,
levels that you can gain experience and pass, and the difficulty realy
increasing, like on easy, on level 1 you just need two shoots to kill
the first monsters, and on level 3 skill, you will need 4 or 5 shoots,
so it's replayable and fun, and i'm talking to the developer to he put
some randon monsters tow, to increase still more the replayability of
the game.

While I agree about the manual and installer, i think the actual language in
the game, in the chapter setup screens for example is rather fun.

it reminds me of an anime, and is actually part of the game's unique charm i
think.

Plenty of mainstream games have dialogue written in this sort of style,
afterall most developement companies are based in Japan.

for the guidence, i actually think it's meant to be minimal. it's not
supposed to be a full walkthrough, just a litle hint here and there.

This is not to insolt the dev of this game but to improve it.
If I knew what else bar the game files are necessary for install then I
probably could translate the inosetup script, its really not to hard.
Really just a few names, maybe some edits and menu pushes and I would have
the stuff.

This is a small manual on the game, with description and some keys.
Its better than the translated manual.

In getright I maxed it without mirrors to 4, it stoppped and started but

Subject: [Audyssey] my Mortal kombat VS DC universe impression

Hey guys,
I got MK VS DC universe this morning, and here's what I think of it.
For those that have only played the newest mk titles, such as mk
armageddon,
you'll find the game plays totally different. First thing to note is
there
are no fighting styles. you have a single style just like in the older
mk
games. The up and down arrows will jump and crouch respectively. However
you
can still move in 3d by using the left analog stick, or by holding L2
while
using up and down on the dPad. Not sure if it's just me, but moving in
3d
feels kinda sluggish in this one. you can't dodge projectiles as easily
as
you did in MKA or deception. There are also a variety of new modes to
get
used to. First one is klose kombat, and this is basically a close
quarters
fighting type thing. The camera pans in, and you beat your opponents in
very
brutal ways up close. it's sorta of a guessing game, as you need to
guess
which button your opponent will press to counter his/her moves. Next
mode is

freefall kombat, and this is activated when you fall off an arena. it's
basically almost identical to klose kombat. only difference is you need
to
fill up a meter which will allow you to activate character specific
attacks

that will slam the opponent back to the ground. Last mode is rage, and
that's pretty self explanatory. when your rage meter fills up, you can
activate it by pressing R 2 plus L2. it'll deactivate your hit reaction
animations which will allow you to knock your opponent around for
approximately 6 seconds.
Next thing I'd like to discuss are the sounds. MK VS DC has some amazing
sounds. The punches and special moves sound a lot more realistic.
however,
this too takes some getting used to as they are completely different
from

older mk titles.
The story mode is completely accessible. they're just regular fights
intertwined with cutscenes. I've completed the DC side of story mode,
and am

now working on MK.
There is also a combo challenge mode, which will allow you to master
combos
obviously, plus some regular and pro moves. You won't be able to play
this

without sighted assistance at this time for obvious reasons. perhaps
gamefaqs will have a walkthrough of it soon. I must say that it is
extremely
difficult to pull off these moves guys. training mode in previous mk
games

was a piece of cake compared to these.
It is also extremely hard to invite
friends.

it's just basically huge rooms with lots of people on it that you can
challenge at any given time. keep in mind I'm discussing the ps3 version
of
online play. xbox could be totally different. if anyone figures out a
way to
make the online play a bit more blind friendly, then by all means, let
me

know.
Think I've covered mostly everything. If you guys have any questions,
feel

free to drop me an email.

Plenty of mainstream games have dialogue written in this sort of style,

yeah there are parts of the game etc that I think can be translated.
maybe someone can help the dev, maybe richard or someone can pass comments
 to this guy.
I accept he uses english as his second language.
Maybe someone can help him with the translations.
The game translations are rough but usable.
Ok so I won't go at him for that however.
Even though stuff in the game, ie symbols buttons may not be able to be
translated, shortcuts to uninstall the game can be named as such,
The installer/uninstaller can be changed using something like innosetup to
 be multilingual quite easily.
In fact the guy could write this in his native language and it would
 probably work fine.
The manual could be translated properly, right now its like the game, real
rough but you can't use it per say neither the guidance although its a
 little help.
So all we need to is get him to do it or ask for permtion to translate the
manuals and installers to english, properly, obviously we can't do much
 about the game
We could make the installer smaller with the innosetup system.
This is not to insolt the dev of this game but to improve it.

Agreed Matheus.

in fact, it would be great if someone could start doing audio walkthroughs
and reviews again, sinse it seems ages sinse people have done them.

I know i'm partly to blame, and as soon as I find a game I can pllay on
speakers with the r09 i'll try and remedy this, but walkthroughs etc are
really great even for people who've finished the game first, sinse they
provide some information about how other people play.

Because. The x box uses a unified system. You start a game, choose play a

It is the same for every game. There are minor variations, but nothing like

Yeah, the levels tend to turn into a giant maze after level 1. Level 3 was
rather difficult, I bawk slightly at the concept of level 4, whenever it
comes out. Especially given how hard the boss fight was at the end of level
3. Perhaps now I'll try to beat it on a higher difficulty level.

You only get one shot, and you'll need it
to kill the mantis in the boss battle. Anyway, I'm done bragging
shamelessly now.

The electric box is a trap that if you step on it, it does rather a lot of
damage over time. Right up there with acid ponds and fire pits. And no,
level 2 is most definitely bigger than 1. Its just tough to navigate given
all the entrances and objects to be found.

Take care

After the third level you get a wait for the next version dialogue and a
save game thingy pops up. The final boss battle takes a lot more strategy
than the other boss battles. This one you absolutely can not sit there and
go toe to toe with the boss. You'd better have plenty of med's, lots of
ammo, and the most powerful gun you can find. It's a triple boss battle.
For those of you reading this, a heads up, don't make the same mistake I

Where did you find contact information for the dev? I couldn't find a manual
in the folders, but maybe I just missed it or something. I have a couple
suggestions that would make the game a bit better, most notably the ability

Hi ron
yes, it's just the three chapter the last, but maybe he will add more
chapters and if so, like 6 or 7 chapters i, personaly, will like much
more than sod. i awreade like it more than sod bekause the rp elements,
levels that you can gain experience and pass, and the difficulty realy
increasing, like on easy, on level 1 you just need two shoots to kill
the first monsters, and on level 3 skill, you will need 4 or 5 shoots,
so it's replayable and fun, and i'm talking to the developer to he put
some randon monsters tow, to increase still more the replayability of
the game.

Re: [Audyssey] MOTA Random items.

2008-11-17 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Ryan,
That would be way to unrealistic. Realistically speaking it would be
extremely difficult, if not impossible, to shoot an arrow out of he air
in mid flight. For one thing it isn't a very big target to begin with
which means your aim would have to be very very precise, and then the
speed of the target would force you to guess where your bullet and the
arrow would intercept each other. That is pretty hard to do even for a
fully traind sighted marksman. So I think a feature like that would be
way to unrealistic.
Besides historically if you wanted to protect yourself from arrows that
is what shields and armor were for. You could hold up a big heavy bronze
shield and the arrow would hit it and be deflected away from the person.
That is if the person saw the arrow coming and deflected it in time of
course.
Now, before anyone asks what about adding a shield to defend against
arrows I have thought about it. However, if you are having electric
bolts of lightning being tossed at you from harpies the last thing you
want on your person is a big large bronze shield. If the lightning were
to hit that thing you would definitely say goodbye to this world. Being
in contact with a metal shield while being hit with a lightning bolt
would cause you to get fried on the spot. Not a good idea.

Smile.

Hi Willem,
Not very likely. I don't know actual statistics, but I do remember doing
some archery when I was sighted. One thing I can say is arrows can move
very fast. Given that this is a dark, ancient, temple the odds ar you
couldn't even see it coming just by using torchlight. You would here the
woosh of it coming and the next thing you know it is probably sticking
out of your guts.

My thought on your idea? Probably not likely. This would be like shooting
a bullet that had been fired at you with one of your own. For one thing,
there's not enough time, and 2 other reasons would be the speed and size of
the projectile. Arrows certainly move slower and are bigger than bullets,
but you still wouldn't have the time to aim and shoot accurately enough.

some archery when I was sighted. One thing I can say is arrows can move
very fast. Given that this is a dark, ancient, temple the odds ar you
couldn't even see it coming just by using torchlight. You would here the
woosh of it coming and the next thing you know it is probably sticking out
of your guts.

[Audyssey] level 2 night of parasite

2008-11-17 Thread shaun everiss
Hi all.
Ok I have all the amo I can find, I have got the small key from woods and the
brass key from the electric box.
all rooms show that I have emptied their contents.
however I now have 3 things, a red door and a red door that will not unlock,
and a couple keys that don't do anything, I have also searched around and have
got more bits and bobs, however there is a small room with a container in it I
can not unlock.

hmm you may be right on that, but the manual and installer are things that need
doing.
Never thought of it as an anim although I wouldn't know since I never have seen
direct subtitles transcripts but I know friends that play japanese anim games
and they tell me the language is made like this.

yeah there are parts of the game etc that I think can be translated.
maybe someone can help the dev, maybe richard or someone can pass comments to
Really just a few names, maybe some edits and menu pushes and I would have
the stuff.

use getright or other manager, and if there is a sector download or segment

Re: [Audyssey] Eamon is driving me crazy!

2008-11-17 Thread MissWings
I remember playing these Eamon games at a friend of mine's when I was
younger and really liking them ... only problem was I hardly ever visited
her so really only got through the first adventure that came on the master
disk, plus maybe another one for sure. I'm assuming this is for Windows,
but I still doubt I'd be able to use it at the moment as everything
nowadays is being programmed for XP or higher, and I'm still stuck using
Windows Millennium. Sounds like a neat game though. Wish I could play
it. I might give it a try when we get plans going for me to use an XP
computer that we have here in our house that's not being used. I'll give
one of my roommates the one I'm on now, so maybe it won't be too long and I
can try some of these new games out for myself.

The deluxe version is not confusing, although annoying at the start. The

that. Although I wonder if that will even help.

Okay, all my manipulations with the window seem to have worked.

the good news is changing the window size to 800 x 600 manually in the
properties tab of the Eamon window (you have to right click the top of
the window to get it), does create a big enough window to view all on
screen text.

the bad news is, whenever I attempt to run anything in the game involving
characters, ie, choosing a character, editing a character, I get a
weerd program screen with lots of code on it and something about debugging!

I've tried putting the window and fonts and stuff back, but no joy,
and in fact if I remember rightly this is why i stopped mucking about
with Eamon the other day!

obn the one hand, i'm just about to give up with this, on the other
if I can get this bloody thing to work, i might have cracked the text issue!

Hi Dark,
Yeah, I also liked the littel story introduction to each chapter. As you
pointed out there are plenty of sighted games that has text, a little
story, that comes scrolling over the screen before you start. Besides
the music that was borrowed from Resident Evil I think the little
introduction to each chapter is by and large the game's best feature.

Hi Charles,
Yeah, you got that right. Here in Ohio we have a very active hunting

say if one of those aluminum arrows can take down a full grown buck
easily it should have no problem doing in a human body. Those things can
do a lot of damage.

target, and it went through the 14 inches of compressed cardboard and
stuck fairly tightly in the rubber backstop! I would hate to think of
what a razor-tipped broadhead would do to a human? EEE uck!
