Re: [Audyssey] Other baseball computer games.

2009-05-09 Thread Jeremy Hartley
Hello. I would strongly advise looking at that website I gave you for more
details than I can give you in a quick mailing.
I will answer your questions on list, just in case others are also
wondering.

There is no career mode so-to-speak, meaning that you can not play more than
one season and have them accumulate for years. However, they have what are
called season discs and again, I suggest going to the website to see which
season discs and team discs are available. It also has a schedule maker
for playing things like regular seasons and world serieses, playoffs, etc.

There is no trial period for the game, since it runs off of the cd-rom, due
to all the sound files for commentary. But I assure you, it is accessible
as far as menus and that are concerned. I warn you that during the game you
will have to use the jaws or window-eyes or Hal cursors to do things like
put in relief pitchers and change player positions, but again, it is all
right there on the screen.

You can indeed edit rosters, player names, and team names.

And, in case you lost the info, the website is at
http://www.apbagames.com/stadium/games/software/baseball/bbw/bbw55.html

Hi.

The Apba game is strictly a baseball season and team management game.
However, you can make decisions about when to take a pitch, swing away,
bunt, hit and run, and other baseball decisions.

Hmm. Don't know what to do after doing the task that Finn gives. All
the other NPCs I've talked to give me newbie tips, which I don't want,
I want quests. One boy told me to go to a treehouse, which I found. I
think that's the guild areas, which I can't access yet because I'm not
level 4.

I understand completely. The documentation sucks. Remember to use
the talk command a lot. For example, when you get down to the main
hall of the place where you're staying, type talk Finn. Talking to
NPC's usually either leads to some kind of task, or at least points
you in the right direction for buying things like armor. I'm very
new as well, so that's all the help I can really offer at the
moment. Remember to search the ground wherever you might be, and use
your look and exit commands a lot.

Re: [Audyssey] Unable to quit dustMare.

2009-05-09 Thread Shadow Dragon

Here's a few commands new players might find useful:

+hint: Tells you exactly where you are in the storyline, and usually what to
do next. It's a little buggy in the later storyline, but it works.
Items: Shows you a detailed list of your inventory, usually telling you what
an item is used for. You can also type items itemname to get detailed info
on that item spacifically, how much it weighs, its value, etc.
can carry lb or kg: This tells you how much more weight you can carry in
either pounds or kilograms.
+help: Shows you the game help itself. If you just type help without the
plus side, you get the basic mush help. The in game help isn't a lot better,
but lists some fairly useful commands.

[Audyssey] Thanks for Dust Mare COmmands, here is another quick question.

2009-05-09 Thread Jeremy Hartley

Hey there.

I am writing this question to the list since I know there are a few of us on
this DustMare mud now. So rather than just posing this to the admin of the
mud, I figured I would put this question here so everyone who may wonder can
get the question answered.

This regards the +channel command. Now, for those of you with the
punctuation turned off in your screen reader the command is plus channel,
that is the word channel with the plus sign in front. Anyway, last night,
the public channel was driving me nuts, so I disabled it with a
+channel -public command. That is, +channel with a dash in front of the
word public. I didn't see any documentation regarding how to enable and
disable channels, so I am just guessing from my experience of muds past.
grin.

When I checked my channel list, I was indeed off of the public channel.
I did find the public channel somewhat helpful at times yesterday, so I
would like to enable it and disable it at will.

No matter what I do, I can not reenable the public channel. I have tryed
+channel +public, the plus sign with the word public, also putting the plus
sign at the end of public, and all I do is succeed in creating my own
channels called plus public and public plus! Lol.

At any rate, if anyone who plays on this mud has the answer to this one,
that's cool, if not, I will take it to the admin.

Hmm, maybe some of us blind DustMare players can help the admin write some
updated documentation?

Here's a few commands new players might find useful:

+hint: Tells you exactly where you are in the storyline, and usually what
to do next. It's a little buggy in the later storyline, but it works.
Items: Shows you a detailed list of your inventory, usually telling you
what an item is used for. You can also type items itemname to get detailed
info on that item spacifically, how much it weighs, its value, etc.
can carry lb or kg: This tells you how much more weight you can carry in
either pounds or kilograms.
+help: Shows you the game help itself. If you just type help without the
plus side, you get the basic mush help. The in game help isn't a lot
better, but lists some fairly useful commands.

plus sign at the end of public, and all I do is succeed in creating my
own

channels called plus public and public plus! Lol.

At any rate, if anyone who plays on this mud has the answer to this one,
that's cool, if not, I will take it to the admin.

Hmm, maybe some of us blind DustMare players can help the admin write
some

updated documentation?

Here's a few commands new players might find useful:

+hint: Tells you exactly where you are in the storyline, and usually
what

to do next. It's a little buggy in the later storyline, but it works.
Items: Shows you a detailed list of your inventory, usually telling you
what an item is used for. You can also type items itemname to get
detailed info on that item spacifically, how much it weighs, its value,
etc.
can carry lb or kg: This tells you how much more weight you can carry in
either pounds or kilograms.
+help: Shows you the game help itself. If you just type help without the
plus side, you get the basic mush help. The in game help isn't a lot
better, but lists some fairly useful commands.

Hey there.

I am writing this question to the list since I know there are a few of
us
on this DustMare mud now. So rather than just posing this to the admin
of

the mud, I figured I would put this question here so everyone who may
wonder can get the question answered.

This regards the +channel command. Now, for those of you with the
punctuation turned off in your screen reader the command is plus
channel,
that is the word channel with the plus sign in front. Anyway, last
night,

the public channel was driving me nuts, so I disabled it with a
+channel -public command.

I have

Re: [Audyssey] windows 7

2009-05-09 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Liam,
As far as accessible games goes on Windows 7 it is pretty much the same
as installing them on Windows Vista. For older games written in Visual
Basic 6 you need to manually install the Visual Basic 6 libraries using
something like Jim Kitchen's Winkit setup file as Windows 7 doesn't
natively ship with VB 6 support.
For newer games such as my own all you need to do is install the latest
DirectX runtimes which will install the Managed DirectX libraries for
.NET applications. Then, they will work out of the box.
Finally, if you aren't familiar with the User Account Control security
introduced in Vista and Windows 7 or you have an older program that
won't work with it you may need to turn it off to play certain games.
While it opens up a huge security hole in your defences it is a work
around for some older games that haven't yet been upgraded to be Vista
and Win 7 compatible.

Re: [Audyssey] Unable to quit dustMare.

2009-05-09 Thread Allison Mervis
I've since solved the problem, but I feel the need to point out that
DustMare is not a separate program. Rather, it's a game which can be played
in a mud client of your choice. Therefore, you can't turn it off in the
system tray. I'm not trying to be condescending, but I wanted to clear that
up so that you weren't confused. :-)

Hi everyone!
I've been playing dust mare for awhile now, and it seems pretty cool. The
only problem is that I can't figure out how to quit. Jeremy and I have
both searched the help files extensively with no luck. It seems like it
should be a simple enough thing to do. Any suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks!
