Re: [Audyssey] Wednesday night Pipe 2 game

2009-05-14 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Thanks, I can safely say that it's one of my best all-time favorites.
I'm hoping to start making game audio recordings like I used to and
putting them on my www.raulgallegos.com site. What I might do in the
mean time is get some of the first recordings up there to help promote
the site. It even updates twitter which is pretty cool.

Cheers.

hth, it's a fun game.

good one Raul, you put my best of two million 50 rather to shame there.

Beware the grue!

[Audyssey] Audyssey blog

2009-05-14 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
What do you all think if I were to start and Audyssey blog? The blog
would be about game announcements, or game score postings, maybe audio
reviews, ETC. I would not want it to become a general discussion board
as that's what the list is for, but for those of you who might want to
brag about a game play, or talk about an upcoming release of yours, or
something similar.

I welcome constructive discussion on this.

Hello All,

From my long time as a star Conquest player, (Michael McCoder, be glad
he

doesn't play), and my farther time on Miriani, I will state a few
things.
Please, and I'm not meaning to offend some people, however, i feel that
the
game has a right to be defended.

With this, let me begin by saying, yes. It is a PVP game. Yes.
You're

gonna get shot at, and probably stranded a time or two. Notice how I
said
a
time or two, and people on this list have said like 10 a week. Let me
explain farther.

You're acting like a winer. Please. Don't take this the wrong way
without
explaining. I would like certain people to write on your checklist,
and

I'd
also like you to keep this in mind. Have you been stranded for a
reason?
I'd bet most of you can say yes. Even the players that play. Now onto
the
farther questions.
Have you commented about it on chatter, insulted your stranders? I bet
again some have said yes. Have you acted like a complete helpless
person
and asked for help 4 times, or have you simply got up, dusted
yourself off, and simply moved on, gotten help from a friend, or asked
someone over private comms to get you?
I deliberately asked this question for last, due to the fact of what
I'm
about to say. Miriani is a game of survival of the fittest. People
get

a
kick on bullying people like those people that could simply answer yes
to
the questions above, because they get easy money. They lean on you, get
your
money, and leave you alone for a few days, and rince and repeat. I
knwo

that's not many people's type of game, however, this is why I say this.
Fight back! Yes I know you can't fight a battlecruiser in a fighter,
however, you can go out with a bang, and take your punnishment,
deserved

or
not, in style. Refuse to pay them, refuse to cooperate. If you
cooperate,
you're gonna go down as either a carebear or a, well, due to language
restrictions, I can't finish that sentence.
This way, if you take it, and show you've got a backbone and are
willing

to
resist, people will eventually move onto easier targets, and guess
what?

You'll even gain some respect! Not only that, but you can take the
extra
time off that you're forced to get, and review the situation and decide
what
you did well, and what you didn't do. Let me set an example.
Jack strands you You're staring on high guard, and were thinking I'm
only
going to get a glass of water, well guess what. You could have taken
the
extra second to enter your ship. It only takes a max of 3 seconds to
subdue
a person without followers enough to get them to a secure location.
Let's move onto space combat. You sit there in a fighter and are
moving

across the sector...into a field of prox mines. You never scanned, you
just
kept moving to 1, 1, 1, then to 20, 15, 10. Well, your error is this.
I'm
going to let you figure it out. It'll help you.

All and all, Miriani is a game that you need to have some backbone and
real
dedication to ge there. Shouting

2009-05-14 Thread Shadow Dragon
I'll basically say this. Pretty much everything TJ said is right, wining
either IC or OOC is more likely to get you attacked again and again. You
have to do something about it, you can't expect the coders to jump on the
bandwagon and fix your problems unless they seriously mess with the balance
of the game. And unfortunately, space pirating and such things is a part of
miriani, not something to be fixed, so it will never get fixed. Noone's
forcing you to play, if you don't enjoy the game, don't play it. Its that
simple. I generally stick to games that have optional PK myself, or games
that have no PK penalties, for this very reason. Miriani's fun for a while,
but after a while it just degenerates into the same old thing over and over,
you have your choice of missions, asteroid hauling, mining, or salvaging.
That's really about it. And unless you want to be a space pirate and barely
make a profit stealing and selling people's ships, which I don't because
odds are high I would suck at it, then the game just gets tedius, pretty
much like every other mud. Its definitely not a game for the faint of heart
or those unwilling to defend their resources to earn more resources. Instead
of posting complaint after complaint on the message boards that the hosts
probably will never read, and on the off chance they do read them that just
wastes their time, or posting complaints here that most of us don't really
care about with a few acceptions I suppose, just find another game to play
and move on. Its blunt, but I'm not gonna sugar coat it. Sorry to anyone
this defends, but even though I'm not an avid miriani player, the
complaints just get old after a while.

Would this be sort of a duplication of some of the purposes of the list?, or
am I missing something. I'll be interested in the opinions of others.

What do you all think if I were to start and Audyssey blog? The blog would
be about game announcements, or game score postings, maybe audio reviews,
ETC. I would not want it to become a general discussion board as that's
what the list is for, but for those of you who might want to brag about a
game play, or talk about an upcoming release of yours, or something
similar.

I welcome constructive discussion on this.

Re: [Audyssey] Audyssey blog

2009-05-14 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Charles,
From what I understand the purpose of the blog would mainly be to
convey news from developers about up and coming releases, report news
regarding bug fixes, maybe Audyssey Magazine announcements, and other
things along those lines. Basically, just another resource our little
comunity can tap into to get the latest news available. Since you
wouldn't have to be subscribed to the list to browse the blog those
people who are away on vacation, unsubbed from the list for whatever
reason, etc could still get an idea of what is being discussed here, and
stay informed in changes going on in the comunity in general.
