In my previously loaded versions, the a would give the number of rocks or shields remaining. No need to check ammo when clubbing, because there isn't any. Hi. If it is not possible to check this, is there any chance it could also be added in a miner version upgrade, sinse I would guess that it is also not a major feature like adding teleporting monsters was. For example, pressing f to tell you weather or not he is facing left or right. I often think such a feature would be nice when fighting on the edge of a pit or chasm. I can't tell you how many times on the more difficult skill levels I have an enemy to the left and one to the right so I sort of split my attention between them. After I kill them I press the right arrow to turn right and fall into a pit purely on accident. So I'd appreciate having the ability to check the direction I'm facing before moving left/right. Re: [Audyssey] Amo checking was:Q9 version 1.1 released!
Apologies if i'm getting to this a little later than I would like. From the manual, section 4: You are automatically equipped with the club from the beginning. To change weapon, use the number keys 1, 2 and 3. 1 is the Large wooden club, 2 is the slingshot and 3 is the Deus Shield. ... You may also press the alt key to quickly switch between the weapons, which is good when you are hard pressed in a battle and need to activate a Deus Shield at lightning speed for example. To hear how much ammunition you have left for a particular weapon, select it either with one of the number keys or the alt key and then press "A". Hope this helps. Re: [Audyssey] Side scrollers was: MOTA Side-Scroller vs FPS
You have apparently never had to deal with the frustration he has described so many times in his posts dealing with the production of MOTA. People want this. People want that. They don't want this. They don't want that. When's the game going to be out? Where's my unlock key? Why is it taking so long to get the game that I bought so darned long ago? Some want an eighties-style game as they were promised, while others want a more modern, even a 3D game instead. If one is produced, the other side's not going to be pleased, and vise versa. He is only human, and burnout is extremely understandable, given the frustration, irritation, and time he has spent on a game that isn't turning out to be the game he originally planned or the game he wants to produce. Now that you're off your soap box, try producing a game like Mota under the conditions and pressure he has had to deal with and maybe you'll be able to see it from his side of the coin. If you can do a better job, I'll get off of my soap box, but not until then. By the way, I'm stating this as nicely as I can, rather than the way I would like to. Thanks. --- This coming Thursday is Thanksgiving day in the United States. Be thankful for, and with, friends, family, good food, and loved ones, not necessarily in that order. I am going to try and be as polite as possible. Especially one statement in your e-mail almost drove me to tears. "I am fedup." Let me tell you something quickly. A little illustration: Some time ago, a colleague asked if she may borrow some sugar from me. She could actually see on my face that I did not want to borrow it to her. Then she said that I must just leave it. Then with a sigh, I eventually said that she may borrow sugar from me. Just note what her words were: "no thank you. Your sugar in my coffee will taste bad." Now this is the message I want to give you, tom. I will not say it in the same rude words that this colleague said, but if people learn that you are fed up with the mota development, it will put them off to buy the game as they will likely experience it in the game that you actually rushed to get it done with. I myself will only buy a game from a dev if I know the dev really wanted to develop the game for the vi community. But from the spirit of your message, Tom, It seems like you do not really enjoy to develop the game, you just want to get it done and over with .You just want to keep 100 nagging e-mails off your case. If you really cannot take it any further, why not rather stop development of mota entirely? In any event, with the new development kit of blasbay studios, blind people should be able to develop a game similar to mota. Unfortunately, a game developer seases to have a private life after he announces he is writing a game. Sooner or later someone will begin e-mailing him on a regular basis asking how the game is coming along, what features has he added, when is the next beta going to be released, can he add this or that feature, you name it. There is no escaping the constant e-mail from his customers unless he drops off line for a few months. In the end it was exactly this constant unwanted mail that caused James North to just give up and quit. Some people wanted to know what was going on, some people demanded he produce a demo when they wanted it, some people wanted their money back, and so on. At the same time he was dealing with some personal matters, and no one left him alone to deal with his personal life let alone finish the games as he had time. Now, I find myself in a similar situation where I don't have much of a personal life, because I am doing this and that for the game with a constant flow of e-mails that never quit. No matter what I add to the game, no matter what I do, there is someone else with a new suggestion, likes or dislikes what I did, and I am totally fed up with the entire project. However, unlike james North I'm not going to just quit. Eventually, I may have to take your advice and just write the game my way and tell everyone to live with it. Since I'm a nice guy, I try to listen to my customers, i would hate to do it that way. Yet if I can't find some sort of consensus I'll do it my way and forget about it. Although, the consensus seams to be keep MOTA exactly as is. I'm not sure how i feel about that, but it does make sense. Please Note: This email and its contents a

The best thing to do is quit the program entirely, then open it back up and resume if you've been playing a long time. By long time, I mean, it must take hours and hours to get to that level. Don't suffer with saves taking so long, just exit out, restart, and be on your way. I'll optmize its memory and processor usage as I develop it. Re: [Audyssey] list owner and donations
You can sign up for a paypal acount in most places in the world and it will automatically do the convertion into dollars for you. I live in the Uk, and have used my paypal account often for this. If you don't have, or cannot sign upt oto a paypal account, well I have seen paypal also providing direct creddit card links which should also convert most currencies into dollars, though I'm not sure if the audeasy donate button has one or not. I admit, I'd not thought of making the game demo only for demonstration purposes, though I must confess if I were to do something like that, I'd probably just redownload a fresh copy of the demo and install it somewhere else on my system. You might sell it with windows still on. In other words your legal windows + all the software you wish to include is part of the sale. You should unregister the game before you sell your key to someone (if that's allowed in thefirst place). On 11/25/09, Bryan Peterson wrote: > That's not entirely unheard of. I just got the 1.1 change log e-mail this morning asking for any comments or suggestions, and now 1.1 is out. In the future please give us more time to add our suggestions before releasing an update, and then saying development is closed. I would really really like the ability to check Q9's direction. I know that is a very easy update, and one you could add today if you wanted to. I do plan on buying the game soon, as soon as I get my next check weather that feature gets added or not, but I'm a bit anoyed I had no chance to ask about this feature before 1.1 just suddenly appears on the seen with a statement no more updates will be up and coming for quite a while. I have to say honestly that's something of a huge deterrent from buying it in my mind. As a developer myself I can understand your desire to release 1.1, and call it quits, but there are several improvements which I think could or would make Q9 a little more enjoyable for me at least. By your polacy there will be no more updates for quite a while what does that mean exactly? Does that mean I have to wait weeks, months, years, maybe never to see an update containing such simple upgrades like the ability to check my direction or to find out how far away the nearest enemy is? Re: [Audyssey] Q9 version 1.1 released!
That's not entirely unheard of. I believe you can unregister the Draconis games as well, though I agree that at first glance it doesn't make sense why someone would actually want to do that. But I imagine there are some situations... Homer: Hey, uh, could you go across the street and get me a slice of pizza? Vender: No pizza. [Audyssey] list owner and donations
This is true with one minor correction. Due to the great donations we received for this year, the list is paid for by the donations. The time for the donations is coming close since the list recycles in March. We welcome donations during any time and since there are 298 members currently, if all members donate just one dollar, it will pay for the list for 3 years. Many thanks. Re: [Audyssey] Side scrollers was: MOTA Side-Scroller vs FPS
Hi Nicol, With all do respect this post is well over a month old. All of the anger and frustration I felt when writing that original post is long gone, over with, and I've moved on development. I've managed to talk it out with the list, and have come to a satisfactory conclusion to that situation. I'm much more comfortable writing MOTA knowing where to go with the project, and exactly what I am going to do from here on out. Nicol Oosthuizen wrote: HI tom I feel quite upset with your e-mail. I am going to try and be as polite as possible. Especially one statement in your e-mail almost drove me to tears. "I am fedup." Let me tell you something quickly. Re: [Audyssey] Q9 version 1.1 upcoming change log
Hi Philip, One feature I'd really like to see in version 1.1 is the ability to check what direction Q9 is facing. Thanks. Philip Bennefall wrote: Hi again, Q9 is not giving up, here he is again with yet another update which is soon to hit the Internet. Here's the change log at this point: Version 1.1: Added: Teleporting mini Demons to the death world. Added: The boss can now teleport. Added: A special survival mode. Fixed: Some spoken numbers should no longer be skipped from time to time. Fixed: Significant performance improvements. Fixed: There are now slightly fewer wolves in the death world. Fixed: Now boars and rhinos hit other enemies a little more often. Fixed: Enemies now step on fortune fields a little less frequently. Fixed: The sound of the fourth weapon has been lowered slightly. Fixed: Pressing alt+f4 during a death sequence to avoid saving the lost life no longer works. Fixed: The manual now has headings. Any thoughts? Re: [Audyssey] Side scrollers was: MOTA Side-Scroller vs FPS
Nicol, while I appreciate that not everyone can check their E-mails as often as I do, when reading old messages, please remember that conflicts may have been resolved sinse the first post. As it is, I'm pleased to say Tom was able to come to a most reasonable position on this issue, and has moved a long way from his initial frustrated wrant on the subject. Suffice it to say, the game will be developed, and be great! There is however no need for you to swtart bringing up old skeletons like this, which have been well dead and berried for the last few weeks! I'll look forward to your thoughts on the current issues discussed on the list. all the best, dark. - Original Message - From: "Nicol Oosthuizen" To: Sent: Wednesday, November 25, 2009 12:35 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Side scrollers was: MOTA Side-Scroller vs FPS HI tom I feel quite upset with your e-mail. I am off my soap box now. -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of Thomas Ward Sent: 29 October 2009 04:10 AM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Side scrollers was: MOTA Side-Scroller vs FPS Hi Yohandy, I really wish it could be that simple. Re: [Audyssey] Side scrollers was: MOTA Side-Scroller vs FPS
HI tom I feel quite upset with your e-mail. Hello all, I don't understand some people's need to reply at every single message. Ok, it happens sometimes that a message hits me and I have to reply immediately, but I will not do it if I don't check my email for a few months. If I want to reply to a message from a month before, I should first see if the topic is closed, expired, or if the ir the thing I wanted to say in one of a thousand or two of the messages after the one I want to reply to. Re: [Audyssey] Hand to Hand Conbat?
I can think of a couple of games where the actual game sounds stops upon pausing. I think of shades of doom, alien outback, troopanum, pipe2 and hunter just to mention a few. -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of Thomas Ward Sent: 29 October 2009 09:20 PM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Hand to Hand Conbat? Hi jim, Thanks for the code example. Actually my Genesis engine has a quick and easy way to stop and silence all sounds just by calling the PauseSounds function. My big question was though why they would want me to pause sounds when pausing the game. After all when you switch out of the game window it pauses the sounds and resumes them when the window has focus so they aren't in the way when using a chat program, e-mail, whatever. Hayri, I could ask you the same question. What the hell are you doing? Get. It. into. your. selfish. little. mind. Are you listening? The. world. doesn't. revolve. around. you! Liam has a job!
