I'm not the developer but I was a beta tester and helped with sounds, here
is what you can expect.
-many tokens and no these aren't text only. like in the old pcs dos
monopoly, each token has its own sounds, and the available tokens are a
ccar, a dog, and a cannon to name a few.

-sounds for different squares.
-built-in chat capabilities with a typing notification
-saving of games
-can talk through screen readers or sapi which is auto detected.
-it does have bots if there's noone to play with, and if you ask me the fact
it's multiplayer makes it outstanding!

Hey Guys,
Mike F, Jayson Smith and myself have been working hard to release
Monopoly. It is based off of the classic board game. However, it is
different from Jim's Monopoly game. Monopoly by RS Games is an
exciting multiplayer online game (and yes, it's free). We currently
offer 2 versions. One for Windows computers. This is the most
interactive and feature rich. We also offer an In the Browser version.
This version can be played on Windows, Linux, Mac, etc.

I encourage you to check out both of them. You can find them here:
www.rsgames.co.nr
Enjoy.

Hi Mauricio,
Did you install the Visual Basic 6 runtime libraries? These do not ship
with Windows 7, and have to be installed in order for several older
legacy aplications like Supershot to work properly on Windows 7. Based
on the error you have it definitely looks like a missing library of some
kind.

I would add the question, which games are accessible for deafblind players?
I have a suggestion for hard-of-hearing folks like me who have a hard time
with surround sound. Maybe there could be a conversion alternative for an
action-packed game that could use time reaction challenges instead of
knowing directly where the sound is coming from. For example, if a monster
is chasing you, you would normally dodge it knowing which way it's headed.
But in my conversion, it would be just a matter of timing, like I have to
decide quickly what action to take before time runs out and I get killed.

Hi.

There have been a few postings about twitter lately. I always assumed
twitter was just another form of occasionally updated content, such as an
rss feed, however if it's able to run games I'd guess this is different.

sinse Klango now has a twitter client, I'd be interested to know precisely
what twitter is and how it works, do you need to register? is it
similar to facebook with a page and profile?

appologies if I seem amazingly dim here, just put this down to my usual
policy with anything computer related, ie, I learn enough to allow me
to do what I'm able to do, rather than learning things for their own sake,
now however, twitter is encroaching into games land, it's about time i
found out!

I could of course just look up twitter on wikipedia, - but I well
suspect I'll get a better explanation here.

thanks in advance.

Hi Jacob,
True. However, I was just considering what would be the easiest
cross-platform alternative here.Although, with Python it can be bundled
into an executable of sorts so that it doesn't need the perl runtime on
Windows. Same goes for Python. As long as you bundled it into an
executable and ship the runtime libs with the program nothing else would
need to be installed.

Hi Milos,

The TJS program is designed to exit if you do not enter an appropriate
age and that is asked as soon as the intro song is done. I am wondering
if that is what is going on. Other than that, the game is running fine
for others. Maybe you might be pressing the enter key to interrupt the
intro song and that is entering a wrong age. Just guessing at what it
could be.

   Hi Jim and all,
My problem is that the game doesn't start. When I open the game I
hear the intro and then the game exits. Note that I can play your other
games without any problem. So what to do?
   Thanks!

Hi Kelly,

I forgot to mention that even in some of my older games like Mach 1 and Pong,
one would want to remove Jaws. You know because of the Jaws key repeat filter.
So like if you held down an arrow key it was as if you only pressed it once.
And that would make those games very hard if not impossible to play.

Hi Nicol,

The announcement of my new Triple J Shooter game read

Triple J Shooter
Hi,

I have put a new file up on my site.

File name wintjs.exe File size 2.5 meg

Triple J Shooter is an adult sexual joystick shooter game.
The game does support a joystick or keyboard.
I also included the program tjstest.exe. It is not a game, just a test program
that I used to test some of the sounds and descriptions for the tjs game.

So it is a sexual game and as Thomas said, I don't know that your family would

[Audyssey] Core exiles how cool!

2009-12-21 Thread Darren Harris
Well I'm still enjoying this game! Lol I'm getting 4 ashar missions in my
hold at any given time now! I've been experimenting with how many missions I
can get and so far I've managed to get 4 in the starter ship.

A tip for anybody out there who's doing passenger runs. Firstly, always do
runs to different galaxies. But try and make your runs to the same galaxy so
you can maximise fuel burn efficiency with xp and financial bonus's. where
possible, try and do this with the ashar runs. Also try and gain favour with
the outsider galaxy as well.

In addition, having read up a bit on the forums, use all of your structure
points up. So make sure you can use all the extractors that you can use.
Whether it be personal commercial or industrial. This way you will maximise
your profits for later. I've found my profits are starting to shoot up now
majorly. I'm saving for a nice multirole ship now.

Re: [Audyssey] quesiton about triple j shooter

2009-12-21 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Jim,
Not only that but using standard Windows keyboard events weather it is
done through the VB 6 runtime, .NET Framework, or is used in a C++
application is pretty slow. When a user presses a key he/she has to wait
for the keyboard event to be registered by Windows, go through the
message pump, and wait for Windows to signal the application that the
state of the keyboard has changed. Although, that seams fast to us it
is actually not able to keep up with constant fast action keyboard
input, and the Windows message pump will get bogged down in processing
multiple key presses. Something it was not designed to do.
As a result we need something like DirectInput. It does exactly what the
name implies. It acts as a direct bridge between the game and the
hardware input device. It frequently gets a snapshot of the entire
keyboard and can return the state of any key at once allowing you not
only to hold down multiple keys, have fast action key presses, but to
come up with new and interesting combos. You could, for example, use
c+up arrow for crawl forward or x+up arrow to jump forward. This is far
more flexible than the standard alt, control, and shift keys Windows
uses for modifiers.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] New Game: Monopoly!

2009-12-21 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hey all

So far I'm having no problems running the game. Though a couple
suggestions do come to mind.
It would be good if the player movement sound could be lowered as I find
JFW seems a tad behind what is actually going on during the game. Guess
that sums up both really. I was wanting to say It would be good to have
some of the sounds when the action is taken and not before. However I do
realize this could be completely a JFW thing and might work quite
differently on other systems.

is what you can expect.
-many tokens and no these aren't text only. like in the old pcs dos

ccar, a dog, and a cannon to name a few.

 Enjoy.

Hi Mauricio,
Did you install the Visual Basic 6 runtime libraries? These do not ship with
Windows 7, and have to be installed in order for several older legacy
aplications like Supershot to work properly on Windows 7. Based on the error
you have it definitely looks like a missing library of some kind.

Well, give me links as needed, that'll be fine.

As to supershot though, well, I'm always sad when an audio game is made
entirely inaccessible. if you've no longer got the source code and can't
support the game, why not release it as abandonware? That way people
should know what they're getting into when downloading it.

Just a suggestion. i've heard reviews of the game and the sounds and music
seem pretty nice, especially for a quick arcade action game, so it'd be
a shame if it was entirely lost.

[Audyssey] A trouble with Monopoly

2009-12-21 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
hi all

okay so I went into a game with 3 bots. I was doing quite well, but now
it seems to be locked. A bot player landed on a property I owned with 4
houses and it seems stuck right now.
Granted if this is only an alpha I totally understand. I had 4 houses on
Mederterainian, Boltic, Connectic and the light blue ones, and the yellow
near the waterworks. Atlantic was when it happened.

Enjoy.
-Ryan Smith

Well, give me links as needed, that'll be fine.

As to supershot though, well, I'm always sad when an audio game is made
entirely inaccessible. if you've no longer got the source code and can't
support the game, why not release it as abandonware? That way people
should know what they're getting into when downloading it.

Just a suggestion. i've heard reviews of the game and the sounds and music
seem pretty nice, especially for a quick arcade action game, so it'd be
a shame if it was entirely lost.

[Audyssey] new game idea: teddy bear machines

2009-12-21 Thread Nicol Oosthuizen
Attention all south African members: arrie willem and jakob
But you guys in other parts of the world may also comment.
Have you seen those machines where one can win a teddy bear by beating
a little game?
My mom has always told me about these machines, they are very tricky.
Basically you are using an arm to pick up one of the teddy bears inside
the machine. You have to press buttons similarly to those found on
joysticks, the arm is inside the machine.
Its very tricky, most of the times the teddy bear falls off the arm into
the bucket before one can retrieve it.
Basically one have to move the arm forward somewhat like in a
sidescroller, till the arm riches a teddybear, then one have to try and
pick up the bear with this arm and bring it to the side of the bucket
and lift it high enough so that the machine releases it.
The machine will try its best to drop the bear again.
So how would you guys feel about a game similar to these teddy bear
machines ?Of course, I am not the potential developer, I just wish that
a game like these teddy bear machines can be made.
The teddy bear machines I have been to, while you play the game and also
while the machine idles until someone else plays, the music these
machines plays, is the lambada tune instrumentally.
Have you guys in other parts of the world also seen these teddy bear
machines? Some of them even contains watches.
A teddy bear catch game would rock.
have a sunny day

Re: [Audyssey] Blastbay Studios - New release!

2009-12-21 Thread dark

Hi.

Really nice game! not bad for a first try, 32 gifts recovered vs 36
destroyed, the cut scenes are hilarious!

the only problem is, I got a bit carried away giving the elves the old one
two for christmas rather than grabbing the loot!

It's also really nice to see a christmas game which actually has santa
laying the smack down rather than being the subject of it, as seems to
happen in the other christmas themed games we've had thus far!

so i am not sure who contacted you about this, but basically, we record
all the voices in our language, and publich a portuguese version. as you

take credit for the game, taking only credit for the portuguese voices.
we also translate the game licence and manual.

[Audyssey] clause victorious!

2009-12-21 Thread dark
Well, i did it, second game 36 gifts recovered, 16 broken.

I'm afraid I did use a rather crazy tactic, once i'd filled the slay enough I
went and just stood in front of the desposal, knocking out elves so they
couldn't break anymore presents!

Nice game indeed!

I'm not sure if developement is finished yet or not, but if you were planning
to add anything, an extra sample when santa's got a full load of three presents
would help, so that you don't need to press the C key, as I did rather
find myself sometimes running around trying to pick things up even with a full
load.

then, you might considder having difficulty modes, not anything drastic,
just playing around with the total of presents needed to collect, and the
amount of time required to collect them.

Whether this is possible or not though, it's a really nice game, though it
does rather offend my left wing sentiments to play the evil capitalist
oppressive Santa clause! ;D.

I have seen these machines, we have them in England too, and in America
I believe (sinse one featured in the film toystory), though the
background music may be various things not just the lambada you mention.

The problem is that they are actually a horrendous scam, sinse the jaws on
the crane arm only tighten properly one time in about 50 (there is actually
a mechanical switch inside the machine that assures this).

As to making it an audio game, well I'm personally not sure about that,
sinse it'd be a rather symple one even for a basic arcade game, and would
need a good few extra features to be interesting to play, and by the time
you'd added those features, your probably talking about a completely
different game entirely.

My mom has always told me about these machines, they are very tricky.

Hi Dark,

Good job. Try getting more than 40 gifts, and see what happens there.

As for difficulty levels I thought of it, but rejected the idea as I wanted
to get the game out quickly and not spend too much time on it, as it is a
freeby after all. Though I do like the idea of a special sound when Santa
has filled his hands with gifts, I'll see about doing that.

Oh and about the oppressive Santa, he might be... But after all he gives

As a full game it would lack a lot of depth, but you could always borrow
from Kirby's Adventure and make it into a bonus game. In that game there was
a large Kirby and a small one that you could grab for extra lives.

indeed the tune may very. I saw some with no music at all using retro sfx
instead and I even saw one with a techno beat with fred saying yaba daba
do! if you managed to get the bear.
however according to brainiac if you get the bear or not is very much
controled.
the first thing is the not proper clamping like dark said but there is
another factor.
there is a controled amount of tries that will win. for instance each 5
tries the pickup is successful. so it goes lose, lose, lose, lose, win and
then the cycle repeats. teh 5 was just an example. as for the game idea, not
so sure about it.

[Audyssey] Things like playing on a pool table

2009-12-21 Thread Jacob Kruger
I know in the old days one of my relatively short time passing computer
games was playing pool on the computer, and at the recent pub2pub
fundraising walk, we got the sighties to try a shot or two on a pool table
with blindfolds on, and in my one attempt I apparently hit the edge of the
corner pocket around 1.5cm off target with the red ball after hitting it
with the white ball using the pool cue from the other end of the table, and
another thing have been thinking about trying one day would be a combination
of a well lit pool table, with limited colours of target balls, and then
trying out using a combination of the vOICe, and maybe my KSonar to try fine
tune my aim and see how close I could come to playing real pool on a pool
table, but in any case, just wondering if anyone has ever tried out a VI
gamers version of anything like a pool game?

I did also use to be relatively good at playing real pool on a pool table,
which also helps since I can still pretty much visualise the whole
situation, but anyway...

Re: [Audyssey] speculative html game programming

2009-12-21 Thread peter Mahach
I prefer dropbox lots more firstly because of explorer integration. pkb has
many people around the world and all we do is paste our stuff to the folder
and everyone gets it, along with a nice baloon indicating the update.
with sendspace you get a lot of adds and acasional popup and sometimes you
get that no slots message, gur'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r annoying! although I can get
around it thanks to the skipscreen plugin for firefox, dropbox is still
better.

Well, should I actually ever get to the stage of needing 20 gb, --- -I'd
considder signing up, I'm just sorry sendspace don't offer a smaller plan,
sinse I do find their service highly relyable and user friendly.

Re: [Audyssey] new game idea: teddy bear machines

2009-12-21 Thread Claudio Zeni
Hi Nicol!

Oh, I know them very good.
You can find these machines in most contries in gaming centres.
A game simmilar to this concept would be really gread and shouldn't be to
tricky for create.
My problem is, I can't imagine how this really would sound like in an audio
version.
Do you have an imagination how this could sound like?

Best regards,

2009-12-21 Thread Michael Forzano

Hi Ron,

I'm working on resolving a lot of errors. I hope you all can understand this
is just an Alpha and we did not anticipate a lot of these issues. I will
probably end up having to get rid of your game unless I can find what's
causing the problem.

-it does have bots if there's noone to play with, and if you ask me the
fact

it's multiplayer makes it outstanding!
o and it's free for everyone!

Hey Guys,
Mike F, Jayson Smith and myself have been working hard to release

Enjoy.

2009-12-21 Thread Ken

Introducing Grue 2010!
This breed of grue comes to you straight from the deranged mind of the last
living Infocom employees who have been checking out this community. For
your discomfort, they will be implementing it in the next Zork game, which
will be released at the onset of your next nightmare. The grue is, in
addition to being more vicious than ever, much smarter. He knows that he
no longer need fear the light, because the ones he is now hunting belong to
the blind community, most of the members of which are in total or near total
darkness. Being more cunning, he employs strategies designed to plunge his
prey into even greater darkness, so the first thing you will discover upon
his arrival is the theft of your canes, guide dogs, computers, and anything
else that sheds light on your world. Then, when you are completely
unsettled and out of sorts, he'll get you--so

BEWARE THE GRUE!

Hi Dark,
Me too. Some of the games like Trek 2000, Lonewolf, Packman Talks, and
of course Jim Kitchen's games were converted to Windows via Visual Basic
6. However, there are still several titles such as PCS Games early
titles that don't have a Windows remake such as Panzor's in North
Africa, Monopoly, Kick Boxing, Cops, etc that would be nice to see come
back out again.

Hi Philip.

well this was only my second game, i'll certainly be playing some more
and try for the 40 pluss gifts.

Santa is an evil capitalist though, he advertises for the merciless
coorperations, causes greed and avarice, oppresses his work force, breaks
into other people's houses, and! is cruel to animals (afterall we don't know
why rudolf's nose is red, maybe Santa's a bit heavy handed!).

then of course, there's what happened to the competitors, ever wonder
where the three kings, baboushka and the original, white horse riding Saint
nicholas are?

All i'll say is there's a lot of snow in the north pole, and you might

Hi Dark,

Good job. Try getting more than 40 gifts, and see what happens there.

As for difficulty levels I thought of it, but rejected the idea as I
wanted to get the game out quickly and not spend too much time on it, as
it is a freeby after all. Though I do like the idea of a special sound
when Santa has filled his hands with gifts, I'll see about doing that.

Oh and about the oppressive Santa, he might be... But after all he gives
gifts away for free doesn't he? Grins.

Well, i did it, second game 36 gifts recovered, 16 broken.

I'm afraid I did use a rather crazy tactic, once i'd filled the slay
enough I went and just stood in front of the desposal, knocking out elves
so they couldn't break anymore presents!

Nice game indeed!

I'm not sure if developement is finished yet or not, but if you were
planning to add anything, an extra sample when santa's got a full load of
three presents would help, so that you don't need to press the C
key, as I did rather find myself sometimes running around trying to
pick things up even with a full load.

then, you might considder having difficulty modes, not anything
drastic, just playing around with the total of presents needed to
collect, and the amount of time required to collect them.

Whether this is possible or not though, it's a really nice game,
though it does rather offend my left wing sentiments to play the evil
capitalist oppressive Santa clause! ;D.

Re: [Audyssey] new game idea: teddy bear machines

2009-12-21 Thread dark
Yes, that is unfortunately true about the crane jaws, but I suppose the
owners of the game would lose a lot of cash if everyone could win
teddybears.

the kirby series in general was famous for having innumerable minigames
included. In kirby's nightmare in dremland for the Gba (an expanded and
heavily updated version of Kirby's adventure), you could both play these
games from the title screen, and also enter doors on the game map to
play them for extra lives.

thus far, the main audio game I've seen do this is lords of the galaxy,
which did it very well, though Tarzan junior similarly had a few mini bonus
games too.

I've never had any no slots messages with sendspace,. and it always seems
relatively easy to grab the file sinse you just look for file name.

Just a matter of personal preference and what your used to I suppose though.

I prefer dropbox lots more firstly because of explorer integration. pkb has
many people around the world and all we do is paste our stuff to the folder
and everyone gets it, along with a nice baloon indicating the update.
with sendspace you get a lot of adds and acasional popup and sometimes you
get that no slots message, gur'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r annoying! although I can
get around it thanks to the skipscreen plugin for firefox, dropbox is
still better.

Re: [Audyssey] night of parasite question

2009-12-21 Thread dark

Hi ken.

the game is not infected with a trogion, but Avg thinks it is.

turn off the web shield and resident shield while downloading the game,
then, find the exceptions button on the resident shield page and use the
add paths option to both the install folder for the game, eg:
programfiles\night of parasite, and the setup file for the game.

I've done this and it works perfectly fine, though I have to give
creddit for aaron from the audiogames.net forum for explaining this process
to me in the first place.

 Hey Guys,
Mike F, Jayson Smith and myself have been working hard to release

You can find them here:

the only problem is, I got a bit carried away giving the elves the old

It's also really nice to see a christmas game which actually has santa

 Hi all,
This message is to announce my new group up on GroupsIM.com, called
 programmers' paradise.
It's going to be a group with a dropbox folder of about 700 mb of
content for now, where everyone wll be able to share their programming
tools/tutorials, etc. Right now it consists mostly of autoit and
python libraries as well as a very good free c++ tutorial.
To join this group, please add the following address to your msn
messenger contact list which is a groupsIM.com address, which means
that everyone in the group will be able to see what you write under
your nickname as long as you are in the group.

 To join it, add
 group920...@groupsim.com
If you add the group and you don't see an intro page, try sending a
message to it. It should then appear as online.
When a new member joins I will invite them to the dropbox folder.
 Enjoy!

Hi Philip,
Just wanted to say what a great Christmas game this is. I loved both the
acting and the cute little jokes in the game. Like when testing the
speakers, exiting the game, and so on you tossed in a little joke here and
there. It made the game less serious and a bit on the funny side.

Cheers!

Hi all,

I wish to announce the release of our latest free game... Kringle Crash!
Help Santa Claus to recover all the gifts that his elves have stolen, and
try to prevent them from chucking the colorful packages into a massive
garbage disposal unit. And of course, you can take out your frustration
on the unsuspecting elves in a pleasingly violent manner.

The game can be found at:

Enjoy!

Kind regards,

Philip Bennefall

41 recovered and 25 broken is my current height, though the 38 recovery with
12 broken got higher score.

No one ever kicked ass by saying I can't.

Hi.

Really nice game! not bad for a first try, 32 gifts recovered vs 36
destroyed, the cut scenes are hilarious!

the only problem is, I got a bit carried away giving the elves the old
one two for christmas rather than grabbing the loot!

It's also really nice to see a christmas game which actually has santa
laying the smack down rather than being the subject of it, as seems
to happen in the other christmas themed games we've had thus far!

Beware the grue!

Dark.
