Re: [Audyssey] kitchinsinc speech fix virused?
Hi Charles, I am very sad to hear that the sapi voices are not working for you with my games. I know that more and more programs like Jaws are shipping with sapi voices that only work with that program. I bet because they are much cheaper to license and distribute that way. I could put the sapi5 speech developers kit up on Send Space for you. I think that it contains the Microsoft sapi5 text to speech engine and might get your voices working again. Below I am putting all of the sapi5 fixes that I know of. I really would recommend the first one first. The first thing that I would try would be the DelUserLex.exe file that you can find on my free windows sapi5 text to speech games page, as well as on the GW Micro and Freedom Scientific sites. It is a strange file in that it doesn't say or seem to do anything, but it did fix my sapi5 voices. Here is another fix that I was told about. Go to c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Speech Then, press enter on Sapisvr.exe. It won't say anything, but it should correct the control panel entries for Sapi. Another thing that you can do is to use the Windows XP restore feature to restore your computer back to a date when the voices were working. And then there is to use your Windows XP cd to repair the entire sapi5 text to speech engine. you can download (SpeechSDK51MSM.exe). which contains all of the Microsoft Sapi voices available for Windows XP from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5e86ec97-40a7-453f-b0ee-6583171b4530displaylang=en HTH BFN Jim Kitchen's Inc, for games that are up to 110 percent funner to play. j...@kitchensinc.net http://www.kitchensinc.net (440) 286-6920 Chardon Ohio USA --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] What's the best game console out there in terms ofaccessibility?
Hi Darren and all. Strictly speaking, none of the game consoles are accessable nor are they ever likely to be so. If you have a game on umd for your psp the easiest way to get into it is to insert the umd before you turn on the system. If you do that then the game should start automatically. If it doesn't then this can probably be configured in the settings menu. I personally find the psp menus quite easy for the most part in terms of the system itself because they do not wrap around, e.g. when you get to the left menu you cannot wrap around to the right side of the screen. This makes it possible to either memorize or write down the menu structure so you can keep track of it. What is admittedly a challenge for us is learning the menus once you actually get into a game because a lot of these will wrap around, but unfortunately we're not going to get away from that with most mainstream games except for those relatively few where the menus talk completely. Here the best solution I've found is to write the menus down so that you at least will only need sighted assistance one or two times. Again you are probably going to have to do that whichever system you decide to get. As for getting into content on your memory stick if you have one, I am not sure how to get into games that you have on there as I've not really tried to do this yet, I mainly use my memory stick for movies or music. I am sure there are folks on here who know more than I do about getting into various kinds of content and doing more with their psp's who can help you out as well simply because I have not invested more time into it, I have figured out how to do what I want to do for the most part for now. For instance, the PSP has wifi capability that I have not even tapped into as yet because I have not felt the need to do so and because that part will take quite a bit of sighted assistance at least for the initial setup. Well I am off to work, have a good day. Hi, I would also like to add if you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7 don't install the Sapi 5.1 runtime or SDK as that will make the problem worse. Vista and above use Sapi 5.3, and installing an older version of Sapi isn't exactly the smartest thing a person can do. I tried it once, trying to get the older speech voices, and blew Sapi 5.3 up completely. It required a rather lengthy and painful process to get 5.3 back up and working again. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Accessible PS3 Games
Yeah, I won't buy mk vs dc, I refuse, cause it's not a mk game I don't care how fun it is. That's just my opinion though, another game ya might wanna check out that just came out is dragonball raging blast, very fun game. Also tekken 6 and soul caliber 4 are fun too. Unfortunately for rpgs their isn't any too accessible right now for the ps3 that I know of, but if you do have a sighted friend and you both wanna sit down and play you can enjoy one together cause I'm sure there are some out and you would be able to do the fighting on them, you would just have to have your sighted friend move you around. I used to do it all the time, I was better at the fighting and the setting up of the characters so, it was fun for both of us. I played final fantasy 7 like 5 times and beat it all 5, currently my characters are quite invincible on that game. -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of Nancy (Loravara) Sent: Tuesday, January 19, 2010 12:54 AM To: 'Gamers Discussion list' Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Accessible PS3 Games Oh, I'll consider it. Re: [Audyssey] Accessible PS3 Games
Well let's see. It's got the MK characters in it and all the moves and things. That would seem to indicate that it's an MK game, just with DC characters thrown in. Homer: Hey, uh, could you go across the street and get me a slice of pizza? Vender: No pizza. Only Khlav Kalash. - Original Message - From: Brice Mellen buu...@gmail.com To: 'Gamers Discussion list' gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, January 19, 2010 11:13 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Accessible PS3 Games Yeah, I won't buy mk vs dc, I refuse, cause it's not a mk game I don't care how fun it is. That sounds like a great idea. I don't mind memorizing menus. I do it all the time for other things, even for navigating the PS3 menus to play DVDs and such. And the idea of us challenging each other on-line definitely has appeal. *Ponders Amazon* -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of Yohandy Sent: Monday, January 18, 2010 10:04 PM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Accessible PS3 Games You should buy mortal kombat vs. dc universe, or street fighter iv and we'll have a go at it online *grin*. I doubt many card games are playable actually unless you have some sight. I know that uno came out recently, but doubt we'll be able to play it at all. what level of accessibility are you looking for? there won't be a game that'll be 100% accessible, you'll always need to at least memorize menus and such, but many are playable, especially the fighters. - Original Message - From: Nancy (Loravara) lorav...@comcast.net To: 'Gamers Discussion list' gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Monday, January 18, 2010 5:18 PM Subject: [Audyssey] Accessible PS3 Games I recently bought a PS3 console. Originally I bought it for the DVD/Blue-Ray capabilities. Now I begin to wonder what games I might be able to play with it. I love board and card games, and would love a role-playing game that I could play. I'm not into sports games at all. I'm willing to try other types of games as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org.
