www.nextup.com, but when I go to buy it says they are no longer being sold.  Is

Here's the major problem with that: you really can't have many.

The drawback about running simu games with vipmud is that simu games--at
least in vipmud--break every 80 characters or so. Since they put in that
hard line break, it means your triggers--which themselves depend on line
breaks--won't fire properly.

Example:
Your broadsword lands a devastating hit to the goblin's left leg.

This trigger will work perfectly. No problems, no troubles. You could set up
a trigger based on *devastating hit*, and all would be well. Why
devastating hit? Because hits range in scope from grazing to apocalyptic,
and you'll definitely want to know which you're hitting with and which are
hitting you.

However, as you straddle that line between newbie gear and custom-forged
swords, you'll see something like this.

Your gleaming steel broadsword with cross-shaped guard and upswept hilt
lands a devastating
hit to the goblin's left leg.

Big problem there, and there isn't a thing you can do about it. Because the
line break happens right between devastating and hit, your devastating hit
trigger won't fire off. You could always trigger just the word
devastating, but then what happens if that word shows up in some random
description somewhere? It is possible for your character to land a hard
hit, but if you trigger off * hard * then you'll get the trigger sound
every time the pants have been worn by hard use or the road has been packed
hard by centuries of travel.

The other drawback, aside from playing sounds, is that you also won't be
able to properly gag combat text off of anything reliable. When you're
fighting five grass eels, and they're attacking every round alongside you,
and you're trying to keep an eye on your health, something will fall apart.

There is no way, unfortunately, to solve this problem with the mechanics of
vipmud or from within the game. I have read through the documentation more
times than I care to count, I have bugged the hosts in game, and I have
written to David Greenwood about it. If you're set on playing with vipmud,
you will definitely want to get used to lots of text or partial gags.

When I used to play simu games, back before finances dictated otherwise, I
used a plug-in for Zmud that someone had cobbled together. I don't believe I
have a copy lying around anymore, however, and I would rather not name the
developer who designed it lest he get bombarded with emails. If he is
reading this, though, and is interested in picking up the development again,
I'm sure he would find a larger market than he did previously.

I don't mean to rain on your parade with all of this, and I sincerely hope
you can prove me wrong. Simutronics games are some of the deepest and most
advanced muds I have ever played, and I would love nothing more than to see
them made playable with vipmud. However you go, though, good luck.

I have no idea on how this could pe possible, but in the blind  eye, if you 
are facing the wrong wayy, the sounds, even with stereo headphones, sound 
like it is really behind you. I don't know how they are doing it, but it 
would be cool if this could be donein Mota FPS.

Interesting point you raise there.  I believe part of the solution would 
be allowing Vipmud to use regular expressions for matching.  This might be 
straying slightly off topic, but I believe it's important to get the idea 
out there anyway.  With the right kind of  regular expression support you 
can ignore those line breaks and match those particular kinds of combat 
messages fairly easily.  Just a thought, in case anybody with more 
programming knowhow than I is reading this or is interested.
Beyond that, lots of text is right.  I'm already getting used to it and 
don't have a custom forged weapon yet.

description somewhere? It is possible for your character to land a hard
hit, but if you trigger off * hard * then you'll get the trigger sound
every time the pants have been worn by hard use or the road has been packed
hard by centuries of travel.

The other drawback, aside from playing sounds, is that you also won't be
able to properly gag combat text off of anything reliable. When you're
fighting five grass eels, and they're attacking every round alongside you,
and you're trying to keep an eye on your health, something will fall apart.

There is no way, unfortunately, to solve this problem with the mechanics of
vipmud or from within the game. I have read through the documentation more
times than I care to count, I have bugged the hosts in game, and I have
written to David Greenwood about it. If you're set on playing with vipmud,
you will definitely want to get used to lots of text or partial gags.

When I used to play simu games, back before finances dictated otherwise, I
used a plug-in for Zmud that someone had cobbled together. I don't believe I
have a copy lying around anymore, however, and I would rather not name the
developer who designed it lest he get bombarded with emails. If he is
reading this, though, and is interested in picking up the development again,
I'm sure he would find a larger market than he did previously.

I don't mean to rain on your parade with all of this, and I sincerely hope
you can prove me wrong. Simutronics games are some of the deepest and most
advanced muds I have ever played, and I would love nothing more than to see
them made playable with vipmud. However you go, though, good luck.

screenreader software and have no reall need to upgrade it.

I know about the cheat F5, but I can not the frog get from wather. I must 
dog whystle use, but I don.t know with which ithem. I have rope with leach, 
leach, sten key potion, map, loaded pistol, wather baloons, staiks, Hurmet 
book, light candle, peinuts. But never want this. And I am frustrated with 
this about ten days:)

spoilers ahoy! Just stop reading when you have enough information.

You first need the frog unfortunately. Once you've got it, take it to the 
church and use it on the lady playing the Organ. use one of the potions the 
professor gave you (I think it's the stinky one but I could be wrong), with 
the frog. then use the frog on the lady again, and she'll run away.


you can now play the organ accept it breaks, so go and see bill the hermit 
and give him the other potion, he'll give you a book in return which you can 
take to the library in order to fix the organ.


then, go back to the church and use the book to fix the organ. Now, go to 
the pet shop and give the parrot a peanut, he'll whistle a tune. Go to the 
church and play that on the organ which will cause a door to open.


Go into the graveyard and you'll find a coin, take it and throw it down the 
well. You'll hit someone stuck down there, so use the rope in order to try 
and get them out. the rope will be too short, but not if you tie it to the 
leesh, ie, use the rope with the leesh. Use that on the well and you'll pull 
the chap down there up, and he'll give you a key.


go back to the graveyard and use the key on the crypt door. A panel will 
open and you'll have to play a guess the code game (rather like guess the 
number), with the panel (you can hit F5 if your stuck, but imho it's not 
that hard).


then, go into the Crypt and you'll find a hammer. Take it back to the town 
square and hit the bell three times with it, where upon the statue will give 
you another key.


Remember that map you got from lilly's house early on? go to the forest near 
the big tree and follow the directions, ie, n = north, e = east etc. Then, 
when you have got through that, use the key on the lock of the gate.


then, enjoy the , interesting ending.

Once you've used the rain dancing book in the swamp and the frog appears, 
you'll be able to try and pick it up like any other game object.


Once you try to pick it up though, it'll run off so you'll need to chase it. 
You'll here the frog running right or left. use the arrows to run towards 
the frog, and the up arrow to try and grab it when you are close.


the louder the sound of the croak, the closer you are. If you press escape 
and then go to help, you'll also find a help file explaining this under 
frog help

What does this discussion have to do with gaming? Looks a bit off topic to me.
As for I.E. 6 I'd highly recommend updating to *.E. 8 if for no other
reason than the fact I.E. 6 has a well known memory leak which should
be corrected as soon as possible. I don't know if MS still supports
I.E. 6 any more or not, but I suspect probably not considering there
is no good reason not to update to I.E. 8.

That's a good question. Unfortunately, I don't know of any resellers
off the top of my head. That would probably be a question for
Voiceware, the company who makes the Neospeech voices, to answer. They
are a Korean owned company and their website is

However, their U.S. website for their Neospeech voices is
www.neospeech.com.
I'd e-mail their sales department and ask them how to get a hold of a
single user license for Kate and Paul.

Well, I'm not sure how they did that. I mean the DirectX docs are
fairly straight forward and of course I'm not accessing DirectX
directly. I am using Philips Streemway API as a bridge between my
engine and DirectX so I have no idea how to improve the virtual 3d
output beyond what is available in the technical documentation
supplied with directSound and Streemway. It is my understanding
XAudio2 has a superior virtual 3d environment but Streemway doesn't
yet support it, and it would require a5.1 surround sound setup to take
full advantage of XAudio2 to begin with.  there in lies the problem
with virtual 3d technology. Even if the game supports it there is a
good chance the end user doesn't have the hardware required to really
use it or take full advantage of it. That's why my virtual 3d
environment doesn't really require a 5.1 or 7.1 setup. I've played
MOTA on a standard laptop with little problem because it falls back to
a stereo environment if your system doesn't meet the sound card and
speaker configuration needed for virtual 3d audio.
Still I'd be interested to know what the Blind eye did to simulate
that effect. it is too bad it wasn't an open source project or I would
research the problem further. We really need more open source samples
of how to do things like this so experienced and new game developers
can find better ways to convey content through audio.
