[Audyssey] Startrek tng trivia error
Hi. I'm just playing the tng trivia, and while i'd not count myself as a startrek expert, I'm afraid I have found something wrong. The question regarding the encounter at farpoint episode asks what year Q replicates in order to put picard on trial for the crimes of humanity. The answer given is 2060, however I'm absolutely certain the year is actually 2079. The reason I'm certain is A, I've seen encounter at far point a lot, and B, by a coincidence when i first watched the episode when I was around 13, I was reading a book called Time trap by Nicolas fisk, which happened to also be set in 2079, and thus it always stuck with me. So I'm pretty sure that question is incorrect, though perhaps Tom or some of the more confirmed trek fans on list coulc confirm this. Re: [Audyssey] mush patch?
Hi Oriol. no nothing I'm afraid. i coppied your writing of tts_interrupt, but it just wouldn't recognize the command. The only thing I can! be sure of is this isn't to do with hal intercepting escape or any other key. This is because 1, Hal does not intercept keys anyway, 2, Hal has no function for escape even if it did, and 3, just to be certain I tried completely turning off Hal and running mush. I am using the voice scansoft daniel, and interupt has worked in other sapi based programs like Jim's games, indeed it did! work in mushclient up until several weeks ago which is how I was able to play alterean in the first place. i have the mushZ folder in my Fun program files directory, where I install my games. I can't see that this would make any difference, but let me know. it really is as if interupt is purely and simply not working. i really! hope this can be fixed, if not I'll have to resort to vipmud and hope someone can port the soupack across sinse at least vipmud does work correctly with sapi. Hi Dark, You might be right. I'd have to review the show again to be certain, but 2079 sounds right to me. As I recall 2060 was first contact wasn't it? Re: [Audyssey] Missing games
hmmm not sure. That system crashes and corrupt restores have issues could be one thing. I have just had a couple of those and c cleaner really does work. Saying its possible both the pc and ipod could have issues. Firstly try uninstalling all apple components off the system, installing them again and seeing if that works. Next do a chkdsk of the disk any access errors should be fixed. try a system defrag. Its possible both systems are in an unstable state. Reformat both systems and that will be fine at least from windows point of view. You may also want to try to clean the fans in the system to fix those crashes. Hi Dark, Smile. Let's just say I out grew that period of my life. Back when I was a teenager I lived and breathed Star Trek. I watched TNG, DS9, and Voyager every week. The first showing of Voyager's pilot, The Caretaker, was on my birthday none-the-less. I read every single book I could get my blasted hands on at the time. I collected and still have boxes of Star Trek action figures, spaceships, collecter cards, and that sort of thing. At one time I had a lot of that in a display case, but my wife made me box it up as she didn't like me decorating our living room with Star Trek models and toys. :D To top it off my BNS was filled with Star Trek stories I wrote. My first full length novel, yes it was a 500 page novel, was a Star Trek book called Vortex where the crews of the original Enterprise, TNG Enterprise, Defiant, and Voyager all get sucked into a temperal vortex and Kirk, Picard, Sisko, and Janeway have to figure outhow to set the time line back in order. Think Q-Squared with a twist. Lol! I wrote a second novel, much shorter, in high school called Debt of Honor which involved Warf and the Klingon civil war. It takes place just following events in Redemption I and Redemption II in the TNG series. The house of Duras attempt to assassinate the chancellor, but the crew of the Enterprise, Warf in particular, stops them at the end of the book. It was probably my best writing. And before anyone asks me to send them my novels unfortunately I can't. I backed them onto 3.5 floppies, which is all I had at the time, and the floppies went bad losing probably two years worth of serious writing. It sucks lemons. Now, days when I think Trek I think of games like STFC. Still serious work, but I am not a Trek nut like I use to be. I'm still interested, but not as interested. Hi Shaun, I think that might be your problem. I'm using version 10 of the game. Actually, I wonder what the difference is between GCF and GCX files anyway? Also, just so you know, if you do install version 10, you might see some duplicate courses. These are just files that have an extra space character, before the rating if I remember correctly. I've contacted Jim about this already, but am not sure if they've been removed from the installation file. Thanks. Just use liu kang, and spam fireballs right from the get go. Dirty way to play... and I feel wrong doing it. But that's the only way I've found. Block his moves until he taunts you then just open up on him and don't let up. Re: [Audyssey] Startrek tng trivia error
Hi Dark, I think for me it is a simple case of burn out. I started watching TNG on September 28, 1987, the original air date of Encounter at Farpoint, and faithfully watched every single show until the series ended. Plus I watched them multiple times as reruns. Same with the books. I read every TNG book at least twice and probably like three or four times through. No matter how good something is, which Star Trek TNG was a good series, it does get old after a while. That said, I have the complete Voyager series on dvd and am slowly rewatching all the shows, and I noticed there were several I missed, and with good reason. By the time Voyager started airing I was already a student at Wright State, and sometimes when it was on, I think it was Wednesday nights, I was usually studying for a test, catching up on homework, and didn't really have the time to spend watching tv. I recorded it and watched it later, or was away from my dorm, and simply missed it altogether for one reason or another. So rewatching the Star Trek Voyager dvds is a way for me to catch up on the stuff I missed, and get a chanse to watch the shows I haven't seen in a very very long time. Now, to get this back to game related one thing I want to do when I get Mysteries of the Ancients and Raceway out of the way is create an FPS game like Star Trek Elite Force. I have both games here, and they are simply awesome. Its too bad there aren't any accessible games like that, and I want to create something like it. That shouldn't be too hard to do now that I have a decent game engine to do it with. Cheers! I got a 70 percent in the tng test, and probably would've done better if it hadn't been a good four years sinse I last watched through tng, discounting the farpoint issue. I'm not disappointed with that score though. Beware the grue! dark. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Startrek tng trivia error
Hi Amanda, Tell me about it. I was pretty upset when I tried to copy them to my PC, and found out that the floppies had gone bad. Which the 3.5 floppies were definitely known to do. That was before cd rom burners etc existed and was really the only way to back up stuff. I'm glad there are better ways like thumb drives etc now days. In any case I'm pretty sure I could do a better job on either novel now days. They were written when I was in high school, and I didn't necessarily do a professional job on them. Vortex, especially, wasn't something I'd publish simply because it was, well, a bit warped. What I mean by that is at the time I wrote Vortex I was really having some personal issues in my life. I was angry, upset, and that really came through in that book. It was extremely violent, graphic fight/kill scenes, and there was quite a lot of cussing and swaring I wouldn't necessarily add to the book were I to write it today. Plus sense the time space continuum does get restored at the end of the book I decided to kill whoever whenever which meant some of the fights were pretty gory, and certain characters I didn't like such as Quark from DS9 got killed off in some pretty horrable ways. Lol! Basically, the way I view those books now as practice novels. Something to sharpen my writing skills, something that helped me cope with the situations of the time, and kept me entertained. I don't feel too bad about losing them now, because I know that most writers, professional writers, rarely sell their first book or two, and even if the first book does get published it usually undergoes quite a lot of editing. I look at authors like Patricia Briggs. Now days she is a famous sf/fantasy author, but I've read her first two published works and while they weren't terrible they weren't great either. Her later books like the Mercy Thompson series was great. She's got other books that are pretty good, but some of her early books just lack the style and excitement her later books have. We could say the same for an author like Steven King. Certainly he is a great author, but some of his early books like Carey and Christine weren't that great. At least I didn't like them as well as later novels such as Needful Things, It, The Dark Half, and so on. Steven King is an author I think who has improved with time, and his early works are just his first attempts at breaking into the world of writing. In short, I don't worry about it, because I'm pretty sure they would have to have a good rewrite to be published. Besides that, I've thought about writing different stuff, my own stuff, and perhaps I could electronicly publish something of my own rather than basing it on an existing storyline like Star Trek which would have to be published as fan fic. Re: [Audyssey] Startrek tng trivia error
Hi Tom. That's understandable and in fact is the reason I myself probably only reread lotr, the hobbit and the Silmarillion about once every 18 months to two and a half years. even the best books, series and such can be read too much. In the case of games, one thing I've always wanted to see is a startrek game similar to Lone wolf where you command a single starship and carry out missions in space, whether those are delivery type missions for diplomatic reasons, negotiating tricky bits of space such as proton stars, or taking part in the federation's battles. While I believe you that a startrek fps like elite force is a good game (it's not one I've heard of), somehow the idea of militaristic missions with ground troops and guns as part of startrek seems a litle jarring. I know there have been ground based wars, covert operations and goodness knows what going on, especially in the dominian war, however such things are just not what first comes to mind when i think of startrek, thus a 3d or fps game would seem more a starwars thing to me as in fact you were thinking at one stage. [Audyssey] tj7.0
Hi all, Does anyone have tarzan junior7.0 the latest verssion of tarzan junior? If you rember when pb-games was still up Philip made a post about tj. If you didn't read it befor here it is. Hi all! Okay, version 7.0 is now available for download! It is occationally 44.7 mb (sorry Sean). To download it, do as follows: 1. Go to the url: http://www.pb-games.com/tj_login.htm 2. Login with the following password: Tj rocks! Note that it is case sencitive. Do never! give out this password to anyone. When you log in, please enter your real name, so i know who has the file or not. Changes from last beta (v6.2): * The stereo image in the game is no longer made by pre recorded, panned audio files, it is made from within the game itself. * Level 4 is included. * The status feature has been modified to work better. * Several other bug fixes. * The bonus objects and the animals in level 1 are now randomly placed. * The slingshot is included. The slingshot: You get it when you take a bonus object in level 1. When you get it, it comes with 5 amo, but you can get more amo along the way, by catching more bonus objects. To toggle between your different weapons, press w. And to use a weapon, press the spacebar as before. To check how much amo you have in your slingshot, press a when it is active (when you have chosen it from the weapon list). The slingshot works as follows in the different levels: Level 1: i don't recommend you to use this weapon in level 1 when you can use your spear, but if you are playing on hard and have much amo, just use it on an animal, and it is dead after one shot. Level 2: the slingshot is inactive in this level, because you do not need it. Level 3: here, the slingshot is very useful. While hanging in a vine, and there comes a monkey, just use the slingshot (it doesn't matter where you are swinging) and the monkey is history. However, if you use your spear, you now need to hit a monkey 3 times to kill it, mouhahahaha! Level 4: Here the slingshot is also very useful. In level 4 you are killing bees (see below). If you use a slingshot in this level, all bees that are currently on the screen will be killed. Here is a description of level 4: Level 4 is called honey hunt, and you are killing bees to get honey. If you finish the level you will eat the honey, and your strength will be increased. The bees are flying left and right, left and right. How many bees there are at once depends on the difficulty. When a bee is in front of you, press spacebar to kill it. If a bee passes center and you do not manage to kill it, it'll sting you and you will lose 1 strength. It is not as easy as it sounds, trust me! As i said above, the status feature has been changed to work better. You now press: 1 to hear your score. 2 to hear your strength. And 3 to hear how many lives you have left. Also, in level 4, you can press 0 to hear how much honey you have. Okay, i know that many people are waiting for this email, so if i don't want them to send mister Alpha after me, it is best that i send it now. I just have one thing remainning to say: ENJOY!!! Re: [Audyssey] Startrek tng trivia error
Hi Dark, Yeah, a game like Lone Wolf with a Star Trek theme would totally rock. At one time I had started on one using the USS Defiant, but the project got ditched or put off because at the time I had just taken over Montezuma's Revenge and Raceway, and all the games I was working on in 2005/2006 ended up getting put on the back burner. Now, as for Elite Force its not as odd or strange as you might think. Let's use Elite Force I which I know best since I've played it a lot with sighted help. Basically, it takes place on USS Voyager while they are still in the Delta Quadrant. Tuvock has just assembled an elite force of Star Fleet officers called the hazard team to handle dangerous and specialized missions for Voyager. The first level has the team in training on the holodeck where you, playing as Ensign Monro, must rescue the hazard team from a Borg cube. Pretty awesome mission for the first three levels. On level 4 Voyager is attacked by an alien ship, the warp core is damaged, and Lieutenant Torres reports to the bridge that Voyager's warp core is about to blow. Janeway orders the hazard team, you, to head down to engineering and repair the warp core. In level 5 Voyager encounters a group of aliens from the Alpha quadrant who were braught to the delta quadrant by the scavengers. They attack Voyager, board her, and the hazard team is called in to clear the ship of the scavengers and restore it back to law and order. Eventually, the game finally gets around to the real story were Voyager and a Borg ship are captured by the Forge. The hazard team must land on the Forge base and blow it up so Voyager can leave. Basically, like I said it is like a series of miniepasodes where you as Ensign Monro get to carry out several missions and lead a team of Star Fleet officers against various enemies. There are a lot of non-cannon characters in the game, for the game's sake, but there are also the regular stars in it. Tuvock, Janeway, Chakotay, Torres, etc are all there played by the same stars as the tv shows which makes it like a playable tv show. The only complaint is they didn't get Jarri Ryan to reprise her roll as Seven of Nine. They had someone who kind of sounded like Jarri Ryan, but wasn't her, playing Seven, and well that kind of sucked. However, all I think you would like it if you could play it. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Startrek tng trivia error
Hi tom. Fair enough. Being as that was all ship based I can rather see how it fits in with what's going on in the tv series so you are playing more a member of the ship's crew with specialized fps missions than someone in the usual fps warzone type standpoint. Another interesting point about such a game, whether you used that model or had another ship, is that sinse you probably won't be able to get the startrek actors for the game, you could make up your complete own ship and crew. however good people's impressions are (I'm told I do a pretty good warf and not a bad captain Picard myself), they are stil impressions, where as if you made up your own starship, you could give it your own crew and have them have their own adventures in games, whether first person or not. That would actually be pretty awsome, and I'd be happy to help voice act in such a project myself. Beware the grue! This sounds excelent. where do I get this and also the software to run it? Thanks Amanda -- From: Jack F mymonkeyboy2...@gmail.com Sent: Sunday, July 10, 2011 1:25 AM To: gamers gamers@audyssey.org Subject: [Audyssey] battlezone Hi Mylos, Here's a description of the game from audiogames.net. Battlezone is one of the first and most major projects undertaken by one of our own forum members using the newly released Blastbay game toolkit One day while piecefully out shopping You are suddenly kidnapped by some mad individual and an endless hoard of very violent employees. Luckily, you have a gun, sword, some exploding booby traps and even an automatic machine gun stashed in your shopping bag (you can't be too careful), so you set about breaking out of the kidnapper's clutches, doing as much damage as possible. Thus begins a fast action, high speed side scrollin adventure taking you from the enemy's lab, past hoards of very angry minians, bottomless pits, stabbing blades, rolling boulders, fireballs, on rushing cars and of course some of this mysterious kidnappers maniacal henchmen as bosses. it's not all bad though, you'll be able to spend your points to replenish supplies, and if your quick enough be able to grab some of the falling items to help you through this parade of nastiness. The game uses ms Sapi to be self voicing and contains a variety of music and sound effects (including many taunts), different ambience for the various levels and non stop action, this is deffinately worth a try, particularly sinse developement is ongoing and new nasties and extra levels are being added continuously (at the current 13 stages, it's already a pretty monstrous game, especially considdering that it's completely free). Just remember that because battlezone was created with the free version of bgt, you'll need that installed on your machine in order to run the game. Hope that helps. best regards, jack --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Are the PHP dynamic scripts still active to tell you who has downloaded what and when? This form of scripting sounds interesting. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] golf game
Hi Shaun, I just checked the TTS games section on Jim's site, and it's definitely there. The link you're looking for is for WinGolfx.exe. There's also another file that fixes a bug with the Golf Course Maker program. Hope this helps.
