[Audyssey] Super Egg Hunt Plus has been released
Hi all, Super Egg Hunt plus is out. The link is: http://www.l-works.net/seh.php Downloading the game gives you the existing super egg hunt game, plus the classic mode originally known as just egg hunt for free, and you can pay to get the rest of the modes. Having been a beta tester for the game, I can honestly say the game is a ton of fun and well worth the money. Re: [Audyssey] swamp navigation question
Hello Nick, You know, just yesterday, I downloaded the game. And like you did, I found it rather addicting! Anyway, I found that navigation in Swamp can be quite a challenge. Especially when trying to kill a zombie! It gets really frustrating when you think that the zombie is centered in your stereo field, only to miss your target when you shoot repetatively. I guess that adds on to the challenge of finding quest items and basic navigation. My recommendation is to listen and pay attention to the zombie's footsteps. For example, let's say that your in the parking lot of a building. Your footsteps in that parking lot will obviously sound different from your footsteps in the street or traveling down the road. Therefore, if you hear a zombie's footsteps sound different from yours, you'll know that the zombie is not close enough for you to shoot at. That, of course, will depend on what kind of weapon you are utilizing as well! Some weapons will be able to shoot at long distances. But if your a beginner player, the gun that you start off with will not shoot at a very long distance. That's just an example of how you can distinguish whether a zombie is close enough. Otherwise, you will have to run toward the zombie, obviously positioning it in the center of your stereo field. If your using a TrackPad, simply swipe your finger according to the zombie's position. So if you hear a zombie on your right, swipe your finger to the right until you hear the zombie positioned in the center as much as possible. This is a 3d game, so it will be a bit challenging to distinguish whether the zombie is directly behind you or in front of you. You just have to listen really carefully. Hope this helps. I'll also add that the fact that draconis still sell their games, and give tech support on them is a pretty good indicator they haven't followed the bavisoft route. while I would like some news from them myself, I'm content to wait, sinse unlike some other companies at least they're still actually present. Re: [Audyssey] the modes in super egg hunt plus
Hi William, I haven't read the manual for the game (which I pre-ordered yesterday) yet, but given that we know how the original free game plays, I somehow expected this, and think it's an interesting idea to keep the longevity of gameplay going. In a way, it reminds me of Judgment Day, where you unlock various features by playing the game in different ways. As far as that game goes, I've unlocked 30 trophies so far, and am trying to figure out how to get more. Thanks. Re: [Audyssey] swamp navigation question
Hey Nick, don't worry about asking questions since everyone had to start out in the same place you are now. The game has a few features that make it different than past audio games, so there is a bit of a learning curve and an adjustment to the controls. On the trackpad, set your finger on it (it doesn't matter where) and slide it to the right. This will rotate your character to the right. The same works for turning left, and adjusting that sensitivity setting determines how much you rotate. For example, lets say you slid your finger an inch to the right. With the sensitivity at lowest you might only rotate a few degrees, but if it were set to highest you might rotate 80 or 90 degrees. Some people prefer highest so that they have more speed, but that also means they have to be very precise with their finger movements since even moving their finger a tiny bit too far would cause them to miss a shot. Others prefer lower sensitivity because they can focus in on the perfect shooting angle easier, but of course it is harder for them to turn quickly to hit a second target. Where you first place your finger doesn't matter because the trackpad, just like a mouse, works on relative position. If you want to rotate to the right, it will usually make the most sense to start out placing your finger to the left most side of the trackpad simply because it gives you more room to move to the right. Once you run out of room, if you still need to turn to the right farther, just lift your finger and place it on the left again so that you have more room to keep sliding to the right. Some players don't like to start their finger all the way to the right or left because it takes a tiny bit longer to change your mind and turn the other way. In the heat of battle you might suddenly discover that the target on your left is racing toward you faster than the one on the right you intended to shoot first. Those players generally start in the middle of the trackpad so that they can quickly zoom their finger in the opposite direction if such a situation occurs. That probably seems like unnecessary precaution, but remember that some of the game's players are quite elite after 10 months of playing! They get themselves into extremely action packed situations where a split second delay between turning right or left could mean death rather than sweet sweet victory, ROFL! I hope this has helped. --- On Wed, 8/22/12, Nick Helms wrote: > From: Nick Helms > Subject: [Audyssey] swamp navigation question > To: "Gamers Discussion list" > Date: Wednesday, August 22, 2012, 12:29 PM > Hello all, > I've recently downloaded swamp after listening to a couple > podcasts > about it, and it sounds really fun, not to mention quite > addictive. > Anyway, I selected one of the custom maps, multi1 I believe > it was > called, and I'm wondering how to slightly change your > position > relative to the zombies. Re: [Audyssey] any draconis games?
Hi Will, No, unfortunately, Draconis hasn't given us any more news on their current projecs. However, just because they haven't given us any news or a game release doesn't mean we should automatically start comparing them to Bavisoft.I for one am pretty sure Draconis is working on something, and I know more than most the time, effort, and drain it takes to produce a serious game of any real quality. Especially, if that someone happens to be coding an engine and games from the ground up in a language like C+++ which Draconis is doing. I've said this before, and I'll say it again, one thing the average gamer often over looks is the people producing accessible games do so in their spare time. They have families, they have jobs, they need personal time as well. Therefore they can't be treated as robots who sit in front of a computer 12 hours a day programming this or that game just because a few gamers want it on demand. As for why Draconis and many accessible game developers don't give us weekly or monthly updates as to the status of projects its pretty simple. If a game developer says something in an e-mail and decides to change his or her mind at a later point they'll get flamed for promising one thing and giving the customers something else. If a developer goes into a lot of detail about a certain game then there won't be as much surprise when it is released. If a game developer is doing a lot of experimentation as I did for a while people will get confused, angry, and upset because they'll accuse the developer of goofing off when they are trying to figure something out by trial and error. Bottom line, there are times when discretion is indeed the better part of valor. :D Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Pontes Backgammon
I had already used F3 to change the numbering to 1 to 24, which is what I prefer while playing. I keep meaning to try again, but never seem to get back to the game. -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of dark Sent: Wednesday, August 22, 2012 4:33 AM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Pontes Backgammon As I said, i don't remember such a bug myself. Are you certain you were moving it backwards? what I mean is, the squares are numbers a1/a12, then b1/b12. so, when you move from the top of the a row, you are on the top of the B row, thus, if you moved a checker one space from a12 it'd be on b12, one more would take it to b11, and so on down the B row. So, I wonder if perhaps you were looking at the wrong row numbers wise? There is also an option to have the spaces numbered 1-24 as an alternative if you prefer. Just a thought. Beware the Grue!
