Re: [Audyssey] Change Reaction: finishing within the last second, and other thoughts

2012-12-22 Thread Draconis Entertainment

The ability to have the time be more precise if there is less than a second
left on the clock is a good idea, and we will look into adding that feature.

Being able to play the bonus round at any time sort of defeats its purpose as a
challenge and reward for clearing the board, so, at least for now, that idea is
not one we're considering.

We really appreciate the feedback and suggestions, and are definitely open to
more ways in which we can improve the game. Based on feedback from various
lists, Twitter, etc, we have several tweaks planned for the next update.

On Dec 21, 2012, at 7:43 AM, Karl Belanger karl.belan...@comcast.net wrote:

 Hi all,
I've had a couple games pot Change Reaction where I completed the game and
the game reported that the clock was at 0. I personally think that's rather
neat, and I kind of wish it could go into the tenths or hundredths of a
 second in those situations.
One play I would like to see allowed is when you have a situation such as
(Dime, blank, blank, Dime), to be allowed to play dimes in either of those
blank spots to connect the four of them and remove them from the board. If I
remember correctly, this was allowed in the old version.
Also, would it be possible to have the bonus round playable from the main
menu once you've beaten it in a regular game? In this case the round would
just keep track of your best time.

[Audyssey] games we'd like to play: definition game

2012-12-22 Thread Nicol
Hi list
I've been thinking about an idea for a new word game.
The game gives you a definition and you must type the word for which the
definition is.
To give an example:
The game gives the following definition:
A toiletry designed to beautify the body
The correct word is cosmetics.
Another example:
The game gives the following definition:
Elevation especially above sea level or above the earth's surface
The correct word is altitude.
Another example:
The game gives this definition:
Difficult to accomplish; demanding considerable mental effort and skill
The correct word for this definition is arduous.
The game gives you a list of difficulty levels to choose from.
On easy you can guess about 5 times the word for which the definition is
but on hard difficulty you only get one guess. ON easy difficulty the game
gives you definitions for very familiar words, but on hard difficulty the
game gives you definitions for less familiar words.
What do you all think about this idea?
Is it possible to develop such a game with bgt?

Hi Nicol,

Well, it is definitely an interesting concept. It should be pretty
easy to create in any language or toolkit, and yes can be done quite
easily in BGT.

My only concern with this type of game is synonymous words that have
the same meaning or definition. There are a number of words in the
English language that mean the same thing and could become confusing
in this sort of game.

For example, elevation and altitude are synonymous. The question would
have to be worded very careful in order to allow the player to know
which word the game was looking for. A generic definition such as
“above sea level” wouldn't be enough to know which word was expected
in this case.

Cheers!

[Audyssey] Bokurano Daiboukenn, The Story Continues

2012-12-22 Thread Hunter Jozwiak
I've posted this on the forum, but I figure I'll ask it here,
too.
In 15-4, how do you get rid of the copter, and stop him from
dropping off his passengers (aren't they children, they sound a
lot like them) and his bombs, plus the holes in the ground. The
kids will fall in the holes, but the bombs get me every time.
Another question was how on earth do you operate the item
detector. I bought it, but it won't pick things up for me.

Re: [Audyssey] games we'd like to play: definition game

2012-12-22 Thread Jewel
Kill or be killed games are beyond me, but word games, such as you describe,
are my cup of tea!
It is very similar to that found on www.freerice.com in which every successful
answer is worth
10grains of rice which is paid for by revenue from advertising, and then, is
distributed to the
starving of the world.

However, one drawback is that the base dictionary is not being, regularly,
refreshed and augmented,
so after a while, one gets to know the correct option of the 4 from which the
player makes his
choice!.
I would offer the suggestion that, if possible, this drawback should be
revised, or otherwise, your
game will have a short life!

To solve Thomas's problem with the concept you could have the answers in

A toiletry designed to beautify the body

you could list
cosmetology
cosmetics.
cortices
chromatics.

that the game is looking for, or give the first letter. In the example
above sea level, 9 letters, you would know that altitude would be wrong.

Cheers!

I would think that the game would be more challenging with no multiple
choices. It would make you think, which is what I like.

Hi Nicol,
To solve Thomas's problem with the concept you could have the answers in
multiple choice so in answer to the definition,

A toiletry designed to beautify the body

you could list
cosmetology
cosmetics.
cortices
chromatics.

Re: [Audyssey] Two-Fer-One E-mail: Laser Tag and iOS Game

2012-12-22 Thread Dakotah Rickard
Hi. I'll answer two questions at once.

The home button is on the right, though it'll just reorient if it's on
the left, but I usually do play with the home button on the rithg.

Also, no. I can't provide a link to the app in the App store, because
I don't know the link. I didn't make the App, but if you search for
ErnCon, then you'll find it rather quickly. The developer of the App
is Ernest Woo of www.WooGames.com, in case you want more info.

Keep in mind, this app is fully cross-platform with Android devices,
so you can play this game with lots of friends.

As for the Lazer Tag, I kind of gave up on reviewing the lazer tag and
Light Strike products before Christmas. I decided to put off
procrastinating about it until after CHristmas, when I will return to
my regularly scheduled procrastination program.

 Ok.

 Hmmm. Where to begin.

The control stick for navigating your ship is located along the bottom
left corner of your screen, which is put into landscape mode by
default. Let's assume your Home button is to the right, your control
stick is about one inch square, maybe an inch and a half, but I don't
think so. It's just at the bottom left corner, and the thing you need
to remember is that there is inertia and acceleration. What I mean is
this. If you push the control stick on the left side or move it left,
you won't just slide left. You will build up speed in that direction.

If you are touching the control stick icon, your engines are firing,
and you are moving in the direction you've touched. If you go outside
the control stick's borders, you are no longer firing your engines,
and you come to a stop over time.

As for your weapons buttons, your bottom right corner, and a two inch
by one inch rectangle proceeding left and up from that point is your
primary firing button. Weapons fired with this button have unlimited
ammunition. Above this, along the right side of the device's screen
are two more panels, about an inch square, with secondary weapons
firing functions. These panels fire ammunition based weapons: rockets,
 missiles, mines, and the like.
The primary weapon for your first ship is a straight-firing energy
cannon, with a firing rate of about 3 shots a second. It's pretty
 distinctive.

As for switching ships, you start out with one ship, the Light
Fighter. It's fast, maneuverable, but relatively weak in both arms and
armor. You also start with a full complement of missiles and missile
plumes. These two weapons, unfortunately, sound identical, and you
really don't want to keep both equipped anyway, as they perform,
basically, the same function, firing a projectile, or a series of five
projectiles, which track to close-range targets.

In the store, there are three tabs, accessed with buttons across the
top. The first is the Items tab, and it contains all the ammunition
based weapons that you can buy. Technically, you already own whatever
weapons, you're just buying ammo for them.
If you follow the left side of the device's screen, you'll see the
list of weapons, starting with Homing Missile. On the right side and
in the middle are various data about the selected weapon. Swiping left
and right moves between these fields, and you'll see a button labeled
Equipped. If you select a different weapon, rockets, for example, you
will notice that the Equipped button changes to the Equip button, and
it's no longer dimmed out. press this to equip the selected weapon,
and you'll be prompted to choose one of your two currently equipped
systems to unequip to effect the transfer.

Changing ships works similarly. You select the Ships tab in the row
across the top and locate a different ship in the list down the left
side. Please remember that you start with only the Light Fighter.
Other ships cost money. Sometimes that money is in-game, sometimes'
it's real money. Explore your options and read about all the ships and
their prices and characteristics in the fields in the middle and on
 the right.

Whether you're selecting weapons or ships, there's a buy button on the
bottom right, just below the Equip button. If this button is dimmed
out, you can't buy it, because you don't have the funds.

If you have the funds, select the buy button.

As for the tutorial mission, I sort of skipped it by mistake. Any
mission you choose, except I think the Tutorial, is multiplayer. Deep
Space mining is the first, under the missions selection screen. There
are others along the left side. You'll want to press the start button
 in the bottom
