Re: [Audyssey] problem accessing audiogames.net with firefox
Hi Richard, Not quite sure what the problem is, but it sounds like for some reason you somehow blocked Audiogames.net in Firefox. I have Firefox 22 both on Windows and Linux and don't have any issues accessing the site from either one. So I don't think it is anything specific to Firefox per say. Sounds to me like something is wrong with your setup. You may have to delete your personal Firefox settings, and create new ones and see if that fixes the problem. Generally, I believe they would be found in c:\Users\User Name\Application Data\Roming\Mozilla or something like that. You can move your settings to somewhere else, and then see if creating new ones fixes your problem. Cheers! Hi Tom. I don't doubt your right on the firefox issue, however obviously I know people have used firefox on the forums with no trouble, and certainly on the occasion when I personally encountered a 403 error code it was an issue with corrupted permission settings in the server code for a board (or that's what the admin said when i E-mailed him about the problem. [Audyssey] Updating the List Guidelines
Hello everyone, As much as I hate being a Nazi about the list rules and guidelines certain posts have forced me to conclude that the guidelines need to be amended to insure the accuracy and validity of some of the things that get posted to the list. Certain members, for whatever reason, continuously post false and misleading information that could be accepted by a list member who may not know any better and thus that information could become harmful and detrimental to the reader. Therefore I am proposing the following guideline to be added to the rules which we may modify and discuss before it becomes official. Because we get new members who may or may not know about the subjects posted to the list, and this also may include longtime members who just don't know what is and is not correct, it is very important that you, if at all possible, research to verify that what you are about to post is correct information. Incorrect information or advice on how to fix a computer or game issue can cause damage to a list member's computer or corrupt a game, which can cost that member money and or headaches unnecessarily. If a list member habitually posts obviously faulty information due to a lack of research, they will receive a warning. Continuing the practice may result in a removal from the list. This guideline is to insure that list members do get the correct advice or help they need, and they will also know that what they read is from a reliable source. Any last minute thoughts, suggestions, or comments before I add this to the official list rules and guidelines? Thanks. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] problem accessing audiogames.net with firefox
hmmph, looked at the forums on mozilla site. Its a problem with firefox, mainly the suggestions seem to try to go to https or forget the www letters or something. there have been various things with address bar not putting stuff in right. A coman solution was to type into the address bar directly and also to clear cookies and temp files, maybe do this on exit of your brouser if you can. there was also a bug with errors not displaying right. So yes yesterday should have searched the nets before opening my mouth. There are enough posts and some topics this year that have me thinking that there is probably some truth to some of this stuff. I wander if ff has an error log it would have what it was trying to do. A lot of stuff on the mozilla site and mozilla must be aware about this surely. you could try asking on forums it seems to happen to the odd person quite a few of them if the google results were to be believed. well must have been some bug I looked at forums and a few were having that issue. so maybe it was patched who knows. At 07:03 AM 8/12/2013, you wrote: Hello, Just giving an update. [Audyssey] recording iPhone games
I would like to record the playing of iPhone apps while describing what I am doing using a mike. I want the sounds from the iPhone to go directly into the recording rather than through the mike I will be speaking into. I will, of course, also need to be able to hear the sounds from the iPhone in order to use the app. What do I need to do this? Thanks in advance. -- If guns kill people, writing implements cause grammatical and spelling errors! --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] recording iPhone games
Get an app like Audioshare or Dropvox or the tons of others that are out there. There are also mikes you can buy that are designed for the iPhone. Re: [Audyssey] problem accessing audiogames.net with firefox
Hi Dark, With a 403 it can go either way. It certainly could be corrupted permission settings on the Audiogames.net end, but as it is only happening on Richard's system that rules out Audiogames.net being the primary issue in this case. If it were on Audiogames.net's end I'd likely be having the issue as well, and Internet Explorer users would be effected too. Hi, I am glad to hear it. I figured it was something wrong with your installation of FF. On 8/11/13, Richard Sherman squir...@gmail.com wrote: Hello, Just giving an update. Re: [Audyssey] Updating the List Guidelines
Hi Charles, Smile. That's the basic idea. I really don't want people giving out bad advice that might be taken as fact by a list member, and it turns out to be bad advice. For instance, telling someone to format their hard drive and reinstall Windows just because they have a problem with a certain application or a game is extremely bad advice and such people who give out that kind of advice need to be moderated or removed from the list if they continually offer up such advice as the best solution to the problem at hand, nor is that the only example of poorly researched information over the last few months. Its merely the most recent and most destructive example that comes to mind. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Updating the List Guidelines
Hi Zack and all, Well, to clarify things a bit, I am not so much concerned with occasional or accidental misinformation as I am when that information is patently false or just bad because the poster doesn't do his or her research on a given topic. I think we are all prone to a bit of misinformation from time to time like accidentally supplying the wrong web site or email address when asked, and there is no harm done to anyone. Its a mistake, and the poster can apologize and move on.. Its an entirely different situation when a poster tries to answer a question of which he or she obviously knows nothing about the subject being discussed and someone else who knows better has to go back and set the record straight. That kind of misinformation is just irritating, wastes everyone's time, and shouldn't be aloud to continue on list. Cheers! Audio Share or Drop Box are not for recording. They are for distributing an already recorded project, which has nothing at all to do with what I asked. -- If guns kill people, writing implements cause grammatical and spelling errors! - Original Message - From: Chris H christopher...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, August 11, 2013 4:28 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] recording iPhone games Get an app like Audioshare or Dropvox or the tons of others that are out there. Re: [Audyssey] Updating the List Guidelines
Like the example of someone suggestion that you reformat your hard drive due to a modem issue. Someone might do it, even though it obviously would not solve the issue, and cause a lot of totally unnecessary wasted time and work. The suggestor obviously knew nothing about the issue, because a reformat is not always the answer. -- If guns kill people, writing implements cause grammatical and spelling errors! - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, August 11, 2013 5:07 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Updating the List Guidelines Hi Zack and all, Well, to clarify things a bit, I am not so much concerned with occasional or accidental misinformation as I am when that information is patently false or just bad because the poster doesn't do his or her research on a given topic.
