[Audyssey] other Accessible Iphone games was: Re: Disappointing news about starbase orion
Well Darren, unfortunately with the Iphone I'm limited in terms of finance, sinse I don't really want to start buying aps to find they're inaccessible and then be in a position of trying to get cash back from Apple, which is why i've tended to go on a basis of contacting developers of Aps which people have tried and found partly accessible, and then talking nicely to developers (and as you will notice in cases such as star traders this has paid off). I also find that where on the pc i can usually predict whether a game has some hope of being accessible, on Ios I can't. Many aps which my gut says should! be accessible for some reason don't turn out to be. just the other day I downloaded something calling itself "aliens text adventure" and another thing calling itself over live, zombi text rp adventure but Vo couldn't get a hoot from the screen at all. the only thing I found readable was a game calling itself Surviver z, which looked quite intreaguing, but was so incoherent in the way vo interacted with it's layout I had no idea where to begin formulating a structured idea of what the game would need to be accessible so never bothered contacting the developer. Similarly, several gamebook aps I've tried such as Tinman's seem heavily graphical and have a hole bunch of unlabled controls, so many in fact I couldn't even start the gamebook itself, though in those cases I probably ought to start contacting developers, sinse choiceofgames certainly aren't the only major gamebook developer for Ios and it'd be great to get some of the others in accessible mode if possible, particularly those like Star breed which seem to have some rp elements too. Frankly I doubt his abilities at looking at alternate solutions sinse genrally speaking most sighted developers are not good at finding alternative ways of desplaying graphical map info, which is one reason why it's often a good idea to discuss these things. The STarbase orion dev just seems narrow minded, and I'm tempted to go and give starbasee orion a zero star rating because of that. I have said if he wants to discuss alternatives I'd be happy and have come as close to politeness allows to calling him a closed minded arrogant so and so, (I did use the word intractable). So, unfortunately it seems no access fixes here, which is pretty bad and not what I was hoping for (I am usualy at least a little more successful at this), though now that Trees brothers (the chaps who make startraders rpg), have moved into game developement we might see an accessible 4X game for the Iphone in the future. [Audyssey] Disappointing news about starbase orion
Well I contacted the developer of starbase orion. he basically said that converting the open gl galaxy map would involve too much work and some buggy additions to the program. When i raised the issue of an alternate display of the same information ala the the startraders nav menue, he told me he'd already looked into that and decided against it. [Audyssey] thanks that makes a lot of sense so as i am running cyber assault in mush then i must be using the client so again thanks RE: Cyber Assault with Mush-Z?

There is a difference between mushclient and mush-z. Mushclient is a program that you can use to play any mud. Mush-z is a specific set of triggers, aliases and sounds that have been built for alter aeon, and come pre-packaged when you instal the program. Think of it sort of like getting programs pre-installed on a new computer; mushclient is the computer and mushh-z is the software. You can, of course, add more software to that computer, if you're willing to work on it. Same goes for mushclient. - Original Message - From: "wayne17a" http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org.
