Hello Jaliya,
The mud is too much like Avalon. That is, other than the combat, you should be
fine. The combat in the muds coming from hourglass is always hard for me to
follow. Lol. Although given the fact that more blind players seem to be there
(I can't confirm it because I haven't ever played it), you may get some decent
help.
Good luck and keep me updated on MSN!

Re: [Audyssey] very important message to liam erven!

2008-07-23 Thread Parham
Lol! I don't think it's only Liam's games that are cracked, anyway. Besides,
whatever one does, someone would come and crack the program/game/whatever.
My friend tells me that she cracked the latest game of Liam, because she
thought it wouldn't be worth paying for. Since I do not play much of audio
games anyway, I refrain from giving my own personal opinion on the matter.

Assunto: [Audyssey] very important message to liam erven!

I've been checking the list archives and I noticed a thread where liam
complained about people cracking his games.
Well liam, I've noticed something which you might take care of. I'm not
trying to be insulting or rude
I'm just giving a friendly warning.
Well, I don't own monkey business myself but I play it sometimes on a
friend's pc.
I've noticed while playing the demo of super liam that the sound of the
monkeys dropping cocanuts is exactly the same as sounds in monkey business.
That little musical sound is exactly the same as in level9 in monkey
business.
When you have to follow the monkey to the teleporter he makes that little
musical sound when you are close to him, when you get far behind him he
makes another sound. On the beach in the super liam demo I recognize that
same musical sound.
I heard that same sound when listening to raul playing super liam.
The sound as the cocanut is falling together with that little whisseling
sound is the same as when you walk into a tree in the jungle and campsite in
monkey business.
That dish sound is the same as when you walk into a tree in monkey business
and that whistling sound is the same as in monkey business when a cocanut
hits you .
Because in monkey business if you walk into a tree more than once then you
get hurt.
So liam, you want to take care of that. I don't think draconis is going to
be happy if they learn that you are using some of their sounds.
Ok its not a big deal, its 2 little sounds that is the same as in monkey
business, but if you are concerned about copyright issues and cracking, you
should really take care of those sounds by replacing it with original
sounds.

2008-07-25 Thread Parham
Perhaps. And perhaps not. Everyone is working on what their produce, but I
think it all goes back to you choosing, in your mind, how much work and
effort deserves being paid for. People have different opinions on that. I do
not tend to defend my friend, nore crytisize her, but am just stating facts.
I have never played Judgement Day, so I can't say. I have played Super Liam
though, the demo, at least, and it wasn't different from the many
sidescrollers up to that point. Of course the rest are different, and that's
why I choose to take a neutral position in this discussion, because it's
going on a narrow ledge.

2008-07-25 Thread Parham
I have never used a crack, audio-game-wise, and I have no intention of doing
so. I can't pay for any games, so I'm not going to play them. Simple. I,
also, wish to be left out of the matter. As far as one is concerned, I just
stated a friend's opinion. My own opinion, stays a secret with me. :)

Re: [Audyssey] very important message to liam erven!

2008-07-26 Thread Parham
What I meant was, sadly, you can't do anything about it. If the person
playing your game decides that, ok, this is not worth paying for? he/she is
going to find a way to get it for free. Or, I can't pay for this! The "I
can't pay for this" can be for any reason, but when one can't pay, one won't
pay. It is not up to me, as a developer, to decide that my game is worth
paying for or not. I mean, no matter what I decide, people tend to get what
they want however they want it. Piracy is not right to do, that is the
bottom line, I was just stating some side-facts, you see.
In my country, all the software can be obtained for free. In my cvcountry,
all the music is obtained for free. When you are in such an environment, you
just realize, hey, that producer has put some time on that. Or hey,
Microsoft has designed windows, although it's awful, but it's something only
a little below avrage, and it deserves to be paid. But does anyone pay
around here? If you already don't know the answer, it is, "NO".
That is why I never play the games that are not free and keep myself out of
the whole thing. Too much headache.

Re: [Audyssey] Gamers Digest, Vol 29, Issue 81

2008-07-26 Thread Parham
Hi,
speaking sighted-wise, it's because there are all these courses for learning
Windows and such, and there are not much people who know how to use linux,
let alone use it. My girlfriend who studied computers in highschool knows
about LS and stuff. They teach them very basic stuff, and on a RedHat
distro, so it's not reliable.
Speaking blind-wise, I myself don't like Orca because of the support it
doesn't provide. I mean it's wonderful and it's going to be great in a year
or two -- but not now. FreeBSD still remains to be tested, though. I've
heard Orca doesn't support Firefox 3 on it!

Hi Thomas,
Yes. The trading is not allowed do to political reasons and conflicts that
started about five or six years ago between United States and Iran, and
still continues. The price would be converted to a reasonable thing if
something is imported, but if I decide to buy something off the net --

Re: [Audyssey] text adventures

2008-08-08 Thread Parham
Hi,
There are a lot of interactive fiction games, coming in all flavours and
genres. Fantasy, science-fiction, romance, and so on. They are mostly
puzzle-like, and require a great deal of time, determination and imagination
to complete. There are some interpreters such as, WinFrotz (which loads
files with the extention of .zip, .z5, .z8, .zblorb, and so on), WinTads or
HTML Tads (which open files with .gam extentions), Adrift, Atari, JACL (the
language I work with), and much much more.
If you are looking for a list of games, though, you can go to two best
places on the net:
First one is Baf's Guide to the Interactive Fiction Archive at
http://www.wurb.com/if
and the second one is Interactive Fiction Database,
http://IFDB.tads.org
which has a great list of interactive fiction, with recommendations and
ratings from other users. If you want to play any of the games in any
platform and you want the interpreter, these four can be played, but they
require you to use your review curser (jaws curser in Jaws, and WindowEyes
curser in Window Eyes). Anyway, the four that can be played most easily are:
JACL games (with .j2 extentions), Tads games (with .gam extentions), adrift
games (with .taf extentions), Inform games (with .z5, .z8, .zblorb and etc
extentions).
If you need more information or the interpreter for any of these, please
feel free to contact me off-list at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hope this helps!

[Audyssey] Any Good Gamebook-style Games Out There?

2009-07-06 Thread Parham Doustdar
Hi there,
I thought Sryth is the game I'm looking for. However, after looking through the
archives of this mailing list, I figured it has in fact fell in the trap I
feared it would.

So, does anyone know of a game that is mainly the style of gamebooks? I've seen
http://www.ffproject.com but it is just a series of books, not with the same
depth as Sryth, and ending quite soon. I like the Arborella books quite a lot,
but the bad thing is that I have to do all this calculations and stuff, and
with the whole book in front of you, you can't help but sometimes cheat. :)

And after all, they all have a set plot, and are not like an online gamebook
(like what I thought Sryth to be, before I saw it's dungeons and stuff).

So, does anyone know of a website that is like that?
Thanks!

[Audyssey] LoneWolf

2009-02-23 Thread Parham Doustdar
Hi there,
I'm having a question about LoneWolf. I've played it, but there is one thing I
haven't been able to figure out. The manual says that the best way to get a
torpito shot is to have 90º relevance to the submarine. For example, if I see
in the radar that this ship whatever is facing 90º, mine should be, either 90 -
90 = 0, or 90 + 90 = 180.
Now, the problem is exactly this, and another thing. First, let me ask my first
question. How can one know whether it's 180º or 0º they should be facing?
The second question is somehow harder. When I see a ssubmarine or something
approach, with the angle of, say, 275º, I set mine to 275 - 90 = 185.
Mathematically right, but even though I see that the ship's still coming with
the angle of 275%, it somehow seems to move in parallel with me. Weird, huh?
Well, any suggestions/tips/etc?
Thanks!
