Re: [Audyssey] A brief Tribute

2014-12-15 Thread Steven Cantos
Look, gamers. No one's forcing you to play the adult oriented games. It's
not like their saying, you'd better play the adult games, or else, we'll
cut off your head or crap like that. I think that it has a lot to do with
your maturity level, and whether you have grasped the concept of Adult
Oriented. Obviously, there's going to be some adult content in those games.
If you wish to play them, that's your own choice, and that's your standard.
If not, well, that's your own choice, too. I'm not going to criticize.

Re: [Audyssey] Comparison between old and latest audio games

2014-10-29 Thread Steven Cantos
I would disagree. The blind swordsman has really got a more modern feel to
it, even though it is a bit like the hear it, hit it style combat that you
would find in most audiogames. And what about SoundRTS with it's new world
war 2 mod and all of the cool weapons? You have to admit that Soundrts is an
exception to what you were saying. You really have to have some strategy in
playing this game. Also, what about Alter Aeon? I mean, it's really close to
a mainstream game in that you must explore, however, the only reason it is
not like a full mainstream game is because the darn game is accessible. I'm
not trying to discredit your points, but I personally agree with Ishan about
how the audiogames have really progressed in quality.

Hi Shaun,

Yes, but in practice it doesn't quite work out that way. I have tried
running some older Dos games and applications on a 32-bit version of Windows
7, and they didn't run correctly and were prone to crash. As a result the
last version of Windows where I could run a lot of Dos stuff error free
happens to be XP.

For example, take Wrestling League Manager. Its an older Dos game for Dos
written in the mid 90's. When I run it on Windows 7 I can play it a while
and it will lock up and need to be kill din task manager. If I go run it in
an XP virtual machine it runs error free. Obviously, there is something
about Windows 7 and older Dos apps that causes them to lockup and crash
since it happens quite frequently on Windows 7.

Hi Dark,

That's possible I suppose. I'm not sure what it is myself but whatever is

 is the

Re: [Audyssey] tips wanted- kingdom of loathing quest

2014-10-19 Thread Steven Strait
I'm going to assume you've already found the map and have access to the
actual Knob it'self.

The easiest way is through the Harem. Adventure there until you obtain the
Harem Veil, Harem Pants, and Perfume. Once you have these, equip them and
use the perfume. You can now enter the Throne room.

You can, alternatively, go through the Barracks. To do this, you need to
find the Elite Pole arm, Elite Pants, and Elite Helm. Equip them all and go
to the Kitchens 3 times. You'll get the Cake Pan, Batter, and Frosting.
Bake the cake and you can enter the Throne room.

Hope this helps! I was once a hardcore Kingdom of Loathing player, so if
you need any help, feel free to ask.

Dear Mr. Ward,

Your actually complaining about the Japanese translation. In my personal
opinion, the Japanese games are much better than the games we make here in
America. There should be no need for complaints, because what will that do?
Are you going to expect the translation to be exactly correct? The grammar
is different.

What I am saying is that if Ishan wants to make games, you do not
necessarily have to get the exact grammar of English correct. Make your
game, and we'll do our best to unscramble the translations. And if it's not
worth your energy, well then, your missing out on some really awesome games
from great developers.

2014-04-21 Thread Steven Cantos
Dear Ishan,

There is also a game called Rail Racer. However, it is not free. I have
heard a recording of it, and I think that it is quite an impressive game to
try out.

[Audyssey] This message is for Dark

2013-11-14 Thread steven
Dear Dark,

For games, buying an iphone is much better than buying an Anddroid. I Iphone,
being the superior phone that it is, has more games than the Anddroid. However,
I do see the cost issue and some compatibility issues. But why would Apple make
Itutes for something as inferior as Linux? This is my opinion, and should not
be taken personally.

[Audyssey] Usa Football

2013-11-02 Thread steven
Dear Thomas Ward,
I strongly suggest that you think over the idea of a football game. From my
knowledge, there is only know audio football on the internet, but I think that
you making a football game would be nice. It sounds like a great idea to me,
considering the fact that I am a fan of football and understand the basic rules
and gameplaally of the game. Of course, if you did make a football game, I
hardly think that it will top Jim Kentchen's football, but this is my opinion.
Again, I am merely suggesting that you look over that idea.
Thanks,
Steven

[Audyssey] Audio Wars - A game by Hatred

2012-03-18 Thread Steven Strait
Hey guys, Hatred here. Just got done fixing a few major bugs in my very
first Audio Game and realized that it's ready for testing. The name is a
working title and may change, specifically if I find another game by the
same name.

Audio Wars is a turn based strategy game similar to the Risk board game. In
Audio Wars, the goal is to conquer the map and eliminate your opponents
while they try to do the same.

Please keep in mind that this game is still in the very early stages of
development. It's playable but you'll probably find many bugs and errors as
you play. I'll try my best to fix things as quickly as you find them but
please be patient. I'm still new to this.

The official thread is on Audiogames.net. Updates will be posted there more
regularly than I will probably post here as I'm more used to Audiogames.net.

http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=7577

Aprone has graciously allowed me to use his server to host the download.
Thanks a lot man!

http://www.kaldobsky.com/audiogames/hatred/AudioWarsA1.zip

Before you play, I would strongly recommend reading the Read Me file as it
will explain the controls and basic game play. If you have any questions,
comments, suggestions, or bug reports, please post them and I'll respond as
quickly as I am able.

Hope you enjoy it!

[Audyssey] A Sighted view on Bridging the Gap.

2011-07-17 Thread Steven Strait
Hey there everyone, I'm Hatred, a friend of Aprone. I've been reading
through the posts about his latest game, Castaways, and I've noticed a small
topic about Bridging the Gap between Sighted and Blind gamers. Figured I'd
toss in my thoughts on the topic since I have a different perspective than
most of you do.

First up, I think that having Blind and Sighted gamers playing together,
either competitively or cooperatively, would be amazing and I fully support
the idea. However, as a Sighted gamer, I've seen a lot of the bad things
that can come from it so I have to warn you that if it's done incorrectly,
you could end up having a lot more problems than you'd want. From what I've
seen while browsing through the emails here and the forums at
Audiogames.net, the Blind gaming community is full of awesome people that
truly want to play new and inventive games. You guys seem eager to explore
together, to build together, and to wage war together. That's awesome, and
as a gamer I love that. Heck, that's one of the reasons I've been pushing
Aprone to do more multiplayer games! I want to play with you guys too!
Unfortunately, there are many Sighted gamers that don't feel the same.

The majority of Sighted gamers are, in essence, similar to Blind gamers.
They want to relax and enjoy the games they love with cool people. However,
there are many that feel that they have the right to ruin the fun for
everyone. Hackers, Spammers, Trolls, and just regular old Idiots run rampant
on many multiplayer games, set on causing havoc for the sake of their own
twisted fun. Aprone and I actually first met in a small game called Babo
Violent 2, a multiplayer shooter game. We played together, and eventually
became good friends. The game was fast, fun, and easy to pick up and play.
However, it had little to no hack protection. I'll admit, I was one of the
Hackers that found a lot of the security holes and had some fun seeing what
I could do with the game. However, I wasn't malicious about it. I simply did
it on my own, away from other players so as not to ruin their fun.
Unfortunately, a large number of players thought differently. They ran
rampant, making themselves invincible, cheating in the game, harassing other
players, and even crashing the servers if they were bored. At one time
players couldn't even get into a game because the servers were down
constantly. It's sad but true, some people truly enjoy causing other people
grief.

Now, I'm not saying that you all should avoid having sighted players play
with you. By all means, I think that goal is great and you should pursue it
full force. However, be aware that with it comes some pretty hefty problems.
It will require developers to rethink how they code their games. They'll
have to take into consideration some form of anti-cheat programming, or even
have a way for admins to remove cheaters from the game. It's definitely
doable but will require a lot more work to make it happen.

Anyways, my long rant is over. Lol! Keep gaming my friends!

Re: [Audyssey] Installing castaways?

2011-07-17 Thread Steven Strait
Courtney,
To me, it sounds like you're missing the map file. That's the same error I
received when testing other maps. Make sure there is a map1 file in the same
folder as your game. Hopefully that's all it is!

Re: [Audyssey] trying to play discworld mud

2008-12-02 Thread Steven Davis
Hello. Disc World is a mud loosely based upon the Disc World novels. I am
not an authority on the mud, Disc World, to be sure. There are some quite
knowledgeable players from this mud on the list.

I, myself, am a slowgrowing character on this mud, but quite enjoy it. Its
a fine way to relax.

If i may be of help, my character is lydrach, and my skype name is
steve1952

I have also played on muds while on skype with other players, that was quite
fun, also.
