[Audyssey] I'm getting frustrated

2007-06-18 Thread Scott Shade
Hello all. I don't know if anyone can help with this but, here's my
problem. I'm looking for a mud with a modern day feel that would allow me
to role play if I want. It would have vehicles that you can actually drive
where you could put in a destination and it would actually take time to
drive there. I'd like something where you could work and do odd jobs and
interact with people to accomplish those jobs. And I want something with
something of a different feel to it in a mud. Its really hard to explain
exactly what it is I want, but I'll know it when I find it. Godwars Ii is
different in its own way than most other muds out there, and achaea is also
different from most in the feel of it and how it functions. But, there just
isn't any easy way to find that elusive treasure of a game that really makes
you want to keep coming back for more and grow a character after time. I
know of miriani, but I'm looking for something a bit more um down to earth?
I just don't know how to put what i want in to words but I think if you've
had to really search for that game you just like out of the load of games
out there, you'll know kind of what I mean. Thanks much,
Scott

Re: [Audyssey] I'm getting frustrated

2007-06-19 Thread Cary
You want something similar to the Sims Online, only in text form. Join the
club. I've been looking for something like that for eons. If you find
something of the sort, please let me know.
PS Miriani sucks. It's too easy to stagnate and not go anywhere as far as
points and rank and what not. I could only stomach so much salvaging and so
much missioning, out of comms is lame as heck, and well I have other things
to say but I shall not say them on list heh.
Just my not so humble opinion. Lol

Finally someone else who sees the light! I've been saying that game
sucked since it was Star Conquest. The only difference is then, we
had the significantly better GWSE to run to. No such luck today. Stupid GWSE.

Re: [Audyssey] I'm getting frustrated

2007-06-19 Thread Zachary Kline
Indeed, GWSE was great. I really did appreciate it... Too bad it's gone,
for the foreseeable future anyway. Bah.
Speaking of games with different feel to them, I have recently stumbled
on a mud which has a rather unique approach to characters, at least.
Namely, they pregenerate them with backgrounds, relationships, skills, etc.
You RP them and put your own spin on them. I don't know how appealing this
might be to anyone: it is awful different.
Thanks,
Zack.

Re: [Audyssey] I'm getting frustrated

2007-06-19 Thread Cary
Miriani is not a modern day mud it's scifi. Crummy scifi, but scifi
nonetheless. Miriani sucks because basically the only things to do to get
points are salvage until your ears bleed from listening to salvaging
messages over and over and over ad nauseum, or do combat missions. Both
things get very very boring after awhile. Not to mention other things which
I will not say on list because they aren't very nice so I will keep those
comments to myself lol
Miriani is definitely not what you want unless you want a mud with a scifi
feel where you do two things over and over and over to get points. No room
for advancement, unless you call out of comms something to work for, but
unlike star conquest, out of comms on miriani, at least the last time I
played it, was not profitable at all. I haven't played it in months, so to
be fair to the... Er, staff of miriani, things could have changed, but I
highly doubt they have.
I've said too much already. I'll step off my proverbial soap box now and
return you to your regularly scheduled gaming.

2007-06-19 Thread Zachary Kline
Howdy,
The game I'm refering to is Firan MUX. I wouldn't be surprised if you
had heard of or played it, considering how popular it seems to be.
Yours,
Zack.

Yep, heard of it. Avoided it. You're forced to play something the
staff hands you... there's nothing random about it at all. Which
makes me feel scripted.

Re: [Audyssey] I'm getting frustrated

2007-06-19 Thread Zachary Kline
Hiya,
Well, I don't interpret it that way, but I can see your point. I don't
feel scripted, mostly because I feel able to improvise and watnot decently
enough, even with a pregenerated character. It's not so bad as you seem to
make it out, as you're certainly allowed to create new characters.
Yours,
Zack.
