Yes. It will. But in my experience. People who crack games don't want to
buy them in the first place.
 The positives outway the negatives.

Re: [Audyssey] LWorks says goodbye to machine based licensing, and hello to a new Judgment day

2009-04-04 Thread Scott Chesworth
Hey Liam, that sounds like good news from here man!

Can you, without going into specifics that might assist the evil-doers
obviously, say anything about measures that are in place with your new
system to prevent piracy?
I ask following a bit of a dispute I've had with GMA Games more out of
curiosity than anything, because a user based system seems like a way
better idea from a player's angle, so if more devs switched to it it'd
make me a happy chappy.

Cheers
Scott

[Audyssey] LWorks says goodbye to machine based licensing, and hello to a new Judgment day

2009-04-04 Thread Liam Erven
One of the major complaints that gamers have had is that all of LWork's
games use a machine-based licensing system. This system was originally
written to discourage piracy. In theory, it was a great system, but leaves
a lot to be desired when it comes to ease of registration. So I'm
announcing that today, all future titles from LWorks will use a user-based
licensing system. My plan is to release an updated version of Judgment day
some time this month that will use this user-based system. There will be no
more machine-based codes, and no need to constantly email support for new
codes. I'm hoping that this will help gamers overall who don't want to have
to wait to get replacement keys. there will also be a few other small
features that will be in the next release, so stay tuned.

Re: [Audyssey] LWorks Development Blog

2008-06-06 Thread Phil Vlasak
Hi Liam,
I hit enter on the download link and it played the bar games mp3 on-line and
it played fine!
But, there was no way to download the audio from that player.
Then I tried to save the file on the download link, something that did not
work before doing the above and now it works.
I was able to save it with no problems.
It might be a problem of too many people trying to play it, or that the
download link should be labeled play on line.

[Audyssey] LWorks shopping cart troubles

2008-01-13 Thread Liam Erven
Howdy Gamers.

Normally I'm always here with happy news reguarding new games to play.
Unfortunately I have to report that during an upgrade of the shopping cart
system, the database went corrupt and I wasn't able to save any data. Which
means I have to reconstruct the entire cart page from scratch. I'm hoping to
fix this as fast as humanly possible.

Hi Liam,
If memory serves me correctly I believe you were offering a contest to guess
the download size of the game. Is there any news or a winner of said
contest?

Thanks

Right now the audio demo is still the same old one, but I will be
releasing
something before the game is released. There are still things I have to
add
and change, so once the main game is finalized, I'll be recording some
audio
from it. I think it'll be worth the wait.
There are a lot of new features I've added since the last audio demo.

Hi Liam,
If memory serves me correctly I believe you were offering a contest to guess
the download size of the game.

Here is the latest news from Lworks.

Judgment Day release date announced:

Our latest game Judgment day now has a definite release date. The game will
be released December 8th. The game retails for $25 and more info as well as
an audio demonstration can be found on the Judgment Day Page at
www.l-works.net/judgmentday.php

it is the year 2015, and the world is at war. This war has been the most
catastrophic to humanity. Two powers are fighting for control. The allies
and a group of nations calling themselves The Supreme Evil. Little is known
about this group and it's motives, but one thing is clear. This group has
advanced weaponry. Over several months, the Allies have been slowly
destroyed by strange and lethal weaponry. The commander of the Supreme Evil
known as Supreme Commander Ather has quickly dispatched several countrys in
the span of a few months. In one last effort to retain any hope, the allies
have gathered all their forces in one area. A defensive station was built,
and plans were made to finally lay the Supreme evil to rest. However, this
task may prove to be harder than one thinks. and this is where you come in.
Your job is to fend off the group of The Supreme Evil's forces, as well as
deal With supreme Commander Ather.

You command the only allied defensive post left. Your job is to fend off the
enemies. Compared to the Supreme evil, your weapons are primative. However,
they can be effective. You are given a machine gun with unlimitted shells, a
supply of rockets, and a small supply of sky clearing nukes. Your crew will
do there best to keep the base undamaged. If there's no damage, they may
even find time to replentish your nukes and rockets if you're running low.

the game will include.
. 10 levels of play plus a boss level where you get to take on Supreme
commander Ather himself . 3 levels of difficulty . a trophy system allowing
you to earn awards for performing certain tasks in the game . 4 unlockable
bonus levels . an unlockable ending for collecting enough trophys . an
unlockable ultra difficulty setting . online score support to post your
scores to all bonus games and difficulty levels . and more!

Preordering for Judgment Day:

If for what ever reason you want to purchase the game earlier at reduced
price, this is totally possible. LWorks will start offering the ability to
purchase a preordered version of Judgment Day from the store at some point
this weekend. The benefit to buying earlier is that you will be the very
first to receive a download of the game as soon as it is released. Beat the
rush when it comes to downloading. Also, the game retails for $25, but if
you buy early, we'll knock 20 percent off the normal purchase price. I
understand there are some misgivings when it comes to preordering. Lworks
will insure that on December 8, there is a completed and bug free copy of
Judgment day for you to play.

months. In one last effort to retain any hope, the allies have gathered all
their forces in one area. A defensive station was built, and plans were made
to finally lay the Supreme evil to rest. However, this task may prove to be
harder than one thinks. and this is where you come in. Your job is to fend
off the group of The Supreme Evil's forces, as well as deal With supreme
Commander
Ather.

If there's no damage, they may
even find time to replentish your nukes and rockets if you're running low.

the game will include.
. 10 levels of play plus a boss level where you get to take on Supreme
commander Ather himself
. 3 levels of difficulty
. a trophy system allowing you to earn awards for performing certain tasks
in the game
. 4 unlockable bonus levels
. an unlockable ending for collecting enough trophys
. an unlockable ultra difficulty setting
. online score support to post your scores to all bonus games and difficulty
levels

Right now the audio demo is still the same old one, but I will be releasing
something before the game is released. There are still things I have to add
and change, so once the main game is finalized, I'll be recording some audio
from it. I think it'll be worth the wait.
There are a lot of new features I've added since the last audio demo.

This is really good news! I hope you'll be able to release the game on the

Hi, Allison.
A side-scroller is a game that only offers four movements of left,
right, up, and down. Most of the Atari games were like this and many of
the original NES games were this way as well.
Liam's game Super Liam and USA Games Montezuma's Revenge are also

2006-05-28 Thread Liam Erven
David. I share your concern as I was one of those who preordered.
The difference is this. I will not offer any preordering until I know that
the product will be released and finished. Plus, imagine the number of
e-mails I'd get if I didn't release it. grins. I don't feel like ruining
my reputation, and I wouldn't offer preordering unless I was 100 percent
sure I could deliver. Preordering is like a promise, and I'm not one to
break promises.

From time to time I will test railracer and stfc but these are small

Re: [Audyssey] LWorks Update

2006-05-28 Thread Liam Erven
Well. Assuming nothing goes wrong, I'd like July first to be the release
date. Things happen, and I'm only one person so it could get pushed back.
My original deadline was April first, and I'm mad I couldn't hit that
deadline, so I don't want to go much farther back than three months.
Though, the extra time has given me more time to put in more cool features.

[Audyssey] LWorks Update

2006-05-28 Thread Liam Erven
Hi gamers:

This is the latest from LWorks.

Our new game Judgement day is coasting along quite well. I hope to release an
official trailer with in the next week or two. Judgement day is like space
invaders with a twist. You can beat the game, but beating it once isn't quite
enough. As you play you will unlock trophys for completing different tasks:
having a high enough shooting accuracy, completing the game with out any
enemies causing damage, beating the game with cheat codes, and more. these
trophys then add up to unlock bonus games, hidden game modes, and even hidden
audio. And with all of our games, you will be able to post your scores to our
realtime scoreboards.

The following description comes directly from our site.
it is the year 2015, and the world is at war. This war has been the most
catastrophic to humanity. Two powers are fighting for control. The allies and a
group of nations calling themselves The Supreme Evil. Little is known about
this group and it's motives, but one thing is clear. This group has advanced
weaponry. Over several months, the Allies have been slowly destroyed by strange
and lethal weaponry. The commander of the Supreme Evil known as Supreme
Commander Ather has quickly dispatched several countrys in the span of a few
months. In one last effort to retain any hope, the allies have gathered all
their forces in one area. A defensive station was built, and plans were made to
finally lay the Supreme evil to rest. However, this task may prove to be
harder than one thinks. and this is where you come in. Your job is to fend off
the group of The Supreme Evil's forces, as well as deal With supreme Commander
Ather.

If there's no damage, they may even
find time to replentish your nukes and rockets if you're running low.

the target release month is July, but I'm not certain on an exact date. Two
weeks before the game is released, LWorks will offer a chance for people to
preorder and lock in a copy of the game at a lower price. The full product
will retail for US $25.00.

LWorks also offers several other fun games which you can read about at
www.l-works.net
including the first ever accessible side Scroller.
