Re: [Audyssey] MUD Ideas
I haven't been to this game myself, but isn't the whole point of this thread to *get* ideas? I'm getting a bit sick of hearing about what people think are wrong in this game! How bout some good ideas to help improve it if that is what is being asked for? Kirstan. I have coded in pascal and javascript I never really cared for this stuff but if its semi easy I may wish to try it. At 02:15 p.m. 12/10/2008, you wrote: Hi, Well Mike's a very good coder. I'm also a coder on there, but as a VB coder, I suppose learning MOO is easier then not knowing any language, I can do basic stuff, like set properties, get arguments, the tells, targets, some command utils, match utils, verbs, mobs, planets, rooms, descriptions, etc. Obviously the if, for, while statements are just nothing to me being a VB coder. I am still learning, but me and moo seem to get along. Smile. Though, I frequently forget the semicolons. But Tristan, was the worst wizard ever. Cosmos is just stolen code, not to get into a flame, but it's Humanity's code. Another wizard Andrew Mack, also was a bad wizard. Mean, angry, cranky, etc. The new wizard, Jayson Smith, is much nicer, and also a terrific coder. We will be working on doing what we can to make the moo less of a clone. However, a wizard on Humanity Moo noted that it wasn't even funny how much code he copied. He literally copied most lines of code, and paste it into his moo. I heard people say, and I'm like okay, that's just wrong. Then I witnessed what really was stolen, and I was almost scared .He failed to give credit to anything, and never asked for permission. Not to turn this against Tristan, but Tristan has, and still does, a history of stealing code. I also consider it highly disrespectful, to just take something, don't give credit, and just pretend you coded it. Perhaps I am over-reacting..but let's get back on the subject of HM. [Audyssey] MUD Ideas
Hi, A friend of mine is running a moo, which I code on, and we were wondering of any kind of unique suggestions you have. Please don't give us Miriani clone ideas. It is a space-kind of moo, where you spend most of your time on a specific planet, with several other planets, used for stranding, specialty items, and just places to hang out. We have a decent combat system, but the moo is not very expanded. You may have played it, however we had cranky, or plain old bad wizards and staff. They are all gone, and they wizards are friendly, as well as the programmers. It is similar to Miriani, but different. Money and death are big parts. Money is earned by delivery, salvaging in space, and missions. We want more jobs, one we are thinking of is metal detector on planet earth. (This moo is in the future, so planet earth is hot), on the beaches. Some features were immature, or just plain rude, due to a different admin who was dismissed, for stealing code, as well as many other reasons. If you know this person, he is gone. We are looking for just any kind of idea, anything at all. Yes there are starships, apartments, stores, stun guns, communicators, furniture, etc. If you have a specific question, feel free to ask me, and there is other staff who are on this list. -Ryan Smith --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] MUD Ideas
it's decent, yes. I've known mike for a while, and can't say much about his coding skills. What I can say, though is the staffing needs improvement. There was a coder, tristan, for a while who has basically coppied all the code. This will be denied, but they were both banned from miriani, and the hell admins hate them. So, the idea of payback is to make this mud, which kinda sorta mirrors the two. So, in answer to your question, staffing changes would be my first thought. Second, last time I was there, there were tons and tons of rooms with you see nothing special. This was my biggest complaint about miriani, at least do something besides you see nothing special, especially if your going to use the space for the rooms. If your going to use ideas from both games, at least add some origenality to it. The cameras sitting in every room look horribly like hell. I can't say much about the space interface, as I haven't seen it. Hi, Well Mike's a very good coder. First of all, the name for Humanity Moo is rather stupid for what you guys plan on doing with it. Why don't you attempt to develop a name that'll stand out? Think of a name of a world, give it some history, and that's just the basics of it. On Oct 11, 2008, at 9:15 PM, Ryan Smith wrote: Hi, Well Mike's a very good coder. Hi, I hope it's not me that's making your head hurt, if it is, I'll try to think more organized, as I seem to type things randomly. When I said MOO defecient I suppose I mean coding-wise. No wizard was a bad coder, except 1. They were all very good coders, but some of them were just jerks and think they know how to run a MOO well (Not that I know how to). yeah it is quite good. The human race is at their lowest and well nothing much to do bar battle. sounds quite good. However I'd like different enemies to fight. Actually why are we fighting anyone at all. why ot explore space and such. Why need to fight a war with things at all. Unless you want to make something realy nasty like the borg or dalecs or something. But really why does this game have to assume we are in a war. well in miriani you could jump from anywhere and i if you couldn't you would automatically use the jumpgate. when you die well your objects seem to vanish, and even if you are waring say a com unit the game says you have nothing. At 01:53 p.m. 12/10/2008, you wrote: it's decent, yes. Not to turn this against Tristan, but Tristan has, and still does, a history of stealing code. Re: [Audyssey] MUD Ideas
moo has two levels of admin. Programmer, which means your permissions are limited, but you can still do things you just can't edit objects that you don't own, and wizard who has full access to everything. It's superuser/full admin Thanks, Tyler Littlefield Visit tds for quality software and web design: http://tysdomain.com skype: st8amnd127 aim: st8amnd2005 msn: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Original Message - From: shaun everiss [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Saturday, October 11, 2008 8:46 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] MUD Ideas for us guys out of the loop what is a wizzard. you seem to mention it on here a load. Re: [Audyssey] MUD Ideas
Hi, Well it's Object Oriented. IDK what else to say about it. I am not sure what you mean my what is 'required'. You need a server and a core database. I find it pretty easy, but if you want to start learning MOO, or looking at some examples here are some useful links: www.moo-cows.com http://lingo.uib.no/moo/ http://www.fringenet.net/MOO/ -Ryan --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. yeah I have msn, I think you are on it not sure. At 03:48 p.m. 12/10/2008, you wrote: it's not hard. It's actually pretty basic. The tutorials are limited, but I'd be willing to help ya out, if wanted. I'll give you your own db to play with, and host it on my server here.
