Hi Lindsay,
Remember to use the right control key to determine the position of your
nearest plane, for example, below and left, above and right, above and zero,
etc. I would also recommend playing with headphones.

Hi,
Right. Specifically, the file that is missing is DX8VB.dll. Though, I
have been told by Windows 7 insiders that Windows 7 will have to have a
complete VB 6 runtime environment installed manually in order to support
VB 6 apps under Windows 7 since Microsoft has now officially scrapped
Visual Basic 6 and earlier as a core Windows technology. it should be
interesting to test out some of these older accessible games on Windows
7 as soon as the MSDN betas are released.
Not only is VB 6 do to be scrapped, but the XNA Framework is suppose to
replace DirectX as the core gaming technology in the next couple of years.

Hi Thomas,

I am not so sure that Puppy1 saying zero, zero as soon as you are on target
would be a good idea. The problem being that you and the enemy are moving
constantly. Well 20 times a second. So the enemy could move on and off of
target like 10 times a second and that would have the speech going off and
interrupting itself. Might be cool though if it ended up sounding like Max
Headroom. But if you did not allow the speech to interrupt itself the game
would freeze waiting for it to say the information all of the times that it
needs to.

Hi,
I think you could get around the distortion problem by not decreasing the
wind volume when the plane is farther away. What I mean is, when a plane is
near the maximum range, the wind is just about inaudible, especially on the
higher difficulties. If you simply don't have the wind get as soft, that
will fix some of the problem.

What about having Sapi say 0 0 as soon as you are on target? That way it
wouldn't effect the sound scheme, but indicate to the player that you
are lined up and ready to go. It seams like a reasonable compromise to me.
Cheers.

Hi Lisa,
Yes, using headphones makes the game a lot easier to play. I tried it on
my laptop just on the built in speakers, and I couldn't figure out where
the enemy planes were. The minute I attached a set of stereo headphones
I went from 0 kills to 10 kills. So at least for me the headphones
helped out a lot.

 Hi Liam,

I can try to raise the volume of the wind wave file itself and hopefully
it will not get too distorted. It is already played at maximum volume by
the time that you are about to over take the enemy. In the mean time
using the right control key might help.

2008-06-30 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Sarah,

I'm not sure what to say, I am getting 6 enemies per round by the sixth round.
One thing I will say, if you get shot down you repeat the round where you got
shot down. Also you know when I said that you don't need to be shy about using
your machine gun, well that was not entirely correct. The thing is in beginner
you get 1,000 points per enemy shot down minus the number of bullets you used.
In experienced it is 5,000 points minus bullets used and in expert it is 25,000
minus bullets used. So anyway I just scored 5,965 points for this round which
would be 6 enemies shot down minus bullets used.

Hi Bryan,

There are three things that you can listen to or for. One is the enemy plane.
That is, is it to the left or right of you. You know then use the left or
right arrow key to get that lined up. Also listen to the enemy planes engine.
Is the frequency high or low. Use the up and down arrow keys to get that lined
up. Ok, so I know that is hard to do, so I added the wind sound. Again listen
for left right and frequency. Ok, so even still some times you are not sure of
the frequency of the wind or enemy planes engine. So press the right control
key. It will say something like above and left, below and right, or zero and
left. You are aiming for zero and zero. Zero meaning that you are lined up on
the enemy, so use the left control key to shoot.

2008-06-29 Thread Sarah Haake
Hi Jim and list,

I just tryed the game and it's really great!!!
But I perhaps found a bug, or I just misunderstood the instructions, I
don't know.
Anyway, I played until there were five enemies to shoot and I shoot
them, but now I get a level with five enemies over and over again. In
the instructions I understood that there should be six in the next
round?

Well, it's a really great and adicting game in any case, great work Jim!

Re: [Audyssey] Puppy 1

2008-06-29 Thread Bryan Mckinnish
Hi. I downloaded the new puppy one game.
I'm sort of confused though. I shot down 1 plane this morning, and I
haven't been able to do it sinse.
Is there something I have to listen for?
Like a certain frequency or something?
The game is still fun to play though.
Thanks.

it is a really really fun game.
my only slight issue is that the take off and landing sounds are a little on
the loud side, but I can deal with that. I love the game
