[Audyssey] Star Trader Questions
Hello. I just started playing Star Traders (the free version) yesterday. How do I move to different planets? I thought going to the Navigate screen would do it but, when I select a destination, my ship doesn't actually go there. Also, where do I buy supplies and recruit more crew? Hi, Christina. When the game first starts, you need to hit the start button next to where you see dock and land. That will take you to your first planet, where you then need to fulfill a contract by duble tapping whichever place is starred. You can buy supplies from any planet that has an exchange. The same is true for recruiting crew. You do that at any planet's Spice Hall. You can only recruit crew if you have less than the number your ship can hold. I hope that helps. Hit zoom, and then navigator. Double tap the planet you want to go to. Then, hit zoom again, and then start. Hi christina. when you select a destination it's set as your nav point, you actually need to hit the "start" button on the main screen to begin travel. Also note that once a destination is selected at the top of the screen where it shows your coordinates and your amount of water-fuel, it'll say how far the destination is. This is very useful to keep track of sinse you don't want to start for somewhere halfway across the galaxy and end up running out of suplies mid way. Regarding where to get crew and supplies, well you can recruit crew at the spice hall of each planet, and pick up supplies at the urban zone. Bre in mind however that water-fuel is needed to travel, and while carrying extra units of weapons or electronics in your cargo hold can help you in spy missions and in combat, they can also increase the likelihood of encounters with hostile ships. I'd actually recommend getting standing with a faction as soon as possible so that you can start selling prohibited goods like weapons sinse being stuck with a massive cargo of illegal stuff and no where to sell is a bad position to be in. Also be very careful with the fiferent factions. This isn't smugglers where you always work for one faction or yourself, and having three or four factions all considdering you a wanted criminal is a very bad position to be in. The manual to star traders is rather detailed, but it does actually help quite a lot. Hi Christina. Well the nav menue will always show you planets in order of closest first, and that is really the only way to go to a planet. You can also use the links in your status screen to the rumours section to set navigation points to go to areas of space you get rumours in as well. Star traders is a little different from smugglers or core exiles, you don't get the planets and systems all layed out neetly to look between, you just have to set a nav point and go, but it's possible to get used to. Cool. Also note that once a destination is selected at the top of the screen where it shows your coordinates and your amount of water-fuel, it'll say how far the destination is. This is very useful to keep track of sinse you don't want to start for somewhere halfway across the galaxy and end up running out of suplies mid way. Regarding where to get crew and supplies, well you can recruit crew at the spice hall of each planet, and pick up supplies at the urban zone. Bre in mind however that water-fuel is needed to travel, and while carrying extra units of weapons or electronics in your cargo hold can help you in spy missions and in combat, they can also increase the likelihood of encounters with hostile ships. I'd actually recommend getting standing with a faction as soon as possible so that you can start selling prohibited goods like weapons sinse being stuck with a massive cargo of illegal stuff and no where to sell is a bad position to be in. Also be very careful with the fiferent factions. This isn't smugglers where you always work for one faction or yourself, and having three or four factions all considdering you a wanted criminal is a very bad position to be in. The manual to star traders is rather detailed, but it does actually help quite a lot. Star traders has slightly different navigation to smugglers or core exiles. once you double tap a planet in the navigator, or one of those nav links in the cargo or rumours screens you have a waypoint set. think of this like setting your course in a sailing ship. If you use the zoom button there is a button called start which will actually start you travelling to where you go, also as I said don't orget to check the distance for the journey at the top of that zoom screen before hitting start. hth. You can also use the links in your status screen to the rumours section to set navigation points to go to areas of space you get rumours in as well. Star traders is a little different from smugglers or core exiles, you don't get the planets and systems all layed out neetly to look between, you just have to set a nav point and go, but it's possible to get used to.
