Re: [Audyssey] audio quake navigating

2007-01-13 Thread Josh
I've noticed that. I kind of figured that out by playing it a little while.
But, as of now, I'm downloading a starwars game for sighted people...that is
to say one that sighted-people play called star wars empire at war.
Hopefully I'll be able to install it, use dragon-unpacker to get the sounds,
then uninstall it using the unclean utility found on the www.jfwlite.com
website, install vb6, learn what I need to program audio games, and then
take those sounds and make a game of my own. Also, have any of you heard of
a game by microsoft called dungeon siege? It's an rpg game. If I can get the
sounds from that one after I download that one, dungeon siege that is . . .
Then I'll try and hopefully will succeed in making an accessible dungeon rpg
game. I might also at some point in the future borrow my brother's lord of
the rings war of the ring game, get the sounds from that one and try making
that one accessible also.

   Hi Josh,

did you start out using vb before you moved on to c number?

no, I used C++ and C before C#.

Also, is vb6 considered object oriented programming?

I've only dabbled, but to answer your question, it's almost but not quite
completely so. smile You can still get an idea of how OOP languages
work though, with it...
I personally would move to VB.net if I wanted to go the VB route... And I
believe that VB.net is fully object oriented. But honestly, how you code
something and how the language you choose to use acts, is really just your
own taste. Investigate a few languages on your own and see which is
easiest for you to understand while having all of the features that will
allow you to design the kinds of apps you'd like. Otherwise, the idea of
something being object oriented or not, really doesn't make sense if it
doesn't fit with what you're comfortable with. Does this make sense? My
note is just a suggestion, but really, it comes down to you...
What I feel comfortable working with might not be what you do... smile

Anyway, hope this makes sense. Have a wonderful evening!...

Re: [Audyssey] audio quake navigating

2007-01-13 Thread Josh
yep, it makes sense. What held me up the most was finding out how to get
ahold of visual basic6 professional edition. And then I almost gave up on
getting the msdn libraries for vb6 until I happened to come across them in
two iso files on a torrent site. So I got them and now have them stored in a
few places so I don't lose them.

[Audyssey] audio quake navigating

2007-01-12 Thread Josh
Hi,

When navigating in audio quake, do I have to press and hold up arrow to walk
or press it and keep pressing pressing multiple times to take a step? Like
if I want to take three steps do I have to press up arrow three times? Also
for some reason when I type tut and press enter the audio quake tutorials
start and they don't let me do anything such as turn on and off the features
of the navigational device.

Oh, I think I know what's going on. Have you closed the
console? Remember, that the console is a toggle...

Have you closed it? and is this still happening? If it is, then I have
no idea why that is, as I just tried it myself, and it works fine...

let me know exactly the steps you're taking to get where you are,
okay? And then we'll see what we can do...

Hi Josh, is it not obvious?... You can simply press and hold the up
arrow if you'd like. Are you not hearing your footsteps to let you
  know
  that you are walking?...

As for the tutorial starting and it not letting you do certain
  things,
  can you clarify?...

  Thanks so much!...

Re: [Audyssey] audio quake navigating

2007-01-12 Thread Cara Quinn
Josh, the key that you said you set, will open / close the console, just
as you're telling me it seems to be doing.

I'm wondering, when you close the console, after you've started the
tutorial, will it then allow you to use the light saber and walk about and
do the normal Quakey sorts of things?... smile

Re: [Audyssey] audio quake navigating

2007-01-12 Thread Josh
Hi,

I just tried it. I go into audio quake and press m for mods, then press
enter till I get to jedi-quake, then press p and enter to play jedi-quake,
then press grauv to go to console, then type dm and press enter for
death-match. Then press grauv again to exit to play the game, and I can't
swing the light saber by hitting g however r and c and n and all of those
work as they normally should. Should I use the impulses to turn them on? If
so, how do I do that?
