Re: [Audyssey] fires in the castle fireplaces

2007-05-27 Thread Jude DaShiell
A player may need to do divination with a fire in a fireplace. Certain
herbs when tossed into a fire when a person inhales the resulting smoke
can help with divination. If memory serves bergamot is one of these
herbs. Also, fireplaces have been known sometimes to have compartments
behind or under certain bricks. I've even played a few games where moving
a certain brick would cause the fireplace to turn and reveal a secret
passage beyond it. For a player with initiative, a dive into a fountain or
pool has sometimes got them into places they couldn't have imagined
otherwise.

Or how about using floo powder if you are near a fireplace to teleport to a
different spot in the castle if a ghost breeths down your neck.
Say for instance you reach a fireplace and you hear a ghost near you or any
other creature and you use floo powder and you are teleported randomly to
another place in the castle. So I shall say floo powder shouldn't only
teleport you to another fireplace but just to any other place in the castle
randomly.

HOw about you can get flew powder and you can use it to warp from fireplace
to fireplace if they are ignighted. When ever you use flew powder when your
next to a fireplace you can be given a menu of other fireplaces you can flew
to.
DOes that sound like a good enough idea?

Hi Nicol,
Honestly I think it would be easier if Phil just put in a feature such
as a menu to appirate to where you wanted to go.
After all appiration is supposed to be based on the triple d rules of
pick a destination, deliberate on it, and use determination to will your
self to that point. Destination, Deliberation, Determination, pop.

In the Sarah game someone wanted to be able to extinguish and start fires
 in
 the castle fireplaces.
This can be done but would only result in a sound changing from a
 crackling
 fire to a sizzle.
Can anyone think of a good use for this in the game?
 Phil

Hi Davy,
I figured a silent fireplace in an audio game would not be easy to find.
I put them in as a way to locate where you are in a room..
If you enter a room and the fireplace is to your right then you should be
able to find the door to get out easier.
As for the summer temperature in Scotland at night in July, I will have to
check.

2007-04-06 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Phil,
Personally, I'd just leave most of the fire places as is as they are
good orientation tools. For example, when I walk in to the great hall I
know I have done so when I hear the places burning.
Although, i suppose a few might be converted with flu pouder to warp to
other areas of the castle real quick to escape a ghost or other person I
don't want to be caught by.
Other than that fire places are quite fine by me the way they are.

Hi Phil,
Yeah, maybe something to think of for 1.2 or a 2.0 release. Though being
able to warp around the castle using flue pouder would rock.

Step into flue drop in the kitchen grab the knife, grab a bite of chow,
and back out again to go in to the staff room and collect, well, I
won't spoil it hear.

 Hi Niall,
 Thanks for the idea.
Two fireplaces already have Flew powder but they are set to take you only to
one place which I will not reveal here.
To have a list of available fireplaces to go to is interesting but would
take lots of time and energy to accomplish for the game.
It would act like a quick level change for those with a registration key.
Of course for the demo you could then quickly go from the kitchen to the
 staff room.
Or from the common room to the kitchen.
Maybe one or two working fireplaces on each floor would be possible.
