Hey, another idea would be a two player mode aswell.
And have different levels and different difficulty level selection.
I would love to see different kinds of obstacles.

Re: [Audyssey] suggestion for phil from pcs games about superdogs bone hunt

2011-12-10 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi everyone,

I'm not Phil, but let me explain the issue with your suggestions
here. While all of your ideas are good ones the problem is that the GMA
Game Engine was never designed to create free games in the first
place, and Phil got around that restriction by creating Super Dog and
setting it to demo mode. The problem is because the GMA Engine is
running in demo mode the game is restricted to a single level, and a
number of the more advanced features of the game engine are disabled.
So even if Phil wanted to add multiple game levels, high score boards,
and things like that he'd have to charge for them or at least issue
free license keys for the game so you can unlock the demo and enable
all the comercial features of the engine. Does that make sense?

This is actually one of the reasons I decided not to buy the GMA
Engine when I got started creating accessible games. You can't just go
out and create a full featured free game. All a developer can do is
create a one level demo and release that as a free game which
essentially is what Super Dog Bone Hunt is.

Cheers!

2011-12-11 Thread pitermach

Ah, people not paying attention...
Anyway, it's not a commercial game, it's just the engine is. Basically
the GMA game engine was apparently made to make exclusively paid games.
It's all prepared for that with the registration system and everything.
It also has a built in demo mode which, among any other restrictions the
developer may add himself, limits you to a single level as Thomas said.
So the only way to get it to work would be supershot style, where the
game is free, but you'd still have to email the developer with your user
code, get a key in return and unlock it. You wouldn't pay, sure, but
it'd get annoying quickly, both for you and the developer.

Re: [Audyssey] suggestion for phil from pcs games about superdogs bone hunt

2011-12-11 Thread dark
Because it's not commercial, the game is free, download and play as much as
you like and you won't need to pay Phil anything for it.

it's just that as Tom explained the gma engine wasn't really created for
making free games. You can make commercial games and demos of one level, but
not a free game with features such as multiple levels or score posting.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Hey.
Here is a thought about the gma game engine.
Why won't the developer of the engine go into it and fix it were a
developer can make free games or paid games?
Then if Phil wanted to add more levels and stuff to the game he would
be able to do that with out charging.

Or he could add more to the game and sale it for a couple of bucks.
