Re: [Audyssey] IF client and MUD client.

2011-12-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Michael,

As far as a good accessible interactive fiction client goes download
and install Zoom. Zoom is not only accessible with VoiceOver, but it
supports pretty much all the common interactive fiction file types.

Cheers!

I was wondering if there is any IF clients and MUD clients for the Mac?
If someone could give me the most accessible ones for the blind that
 would be awsome!
 Thanks.

Thanks for the info.
Can you give me the webpage for that program?
And is there any muds for the mac?
If so can you give me web addresses?

Hi Michael,

What about the console telnet client that comes with Mac OS. I would
think given that its a simple console program VoiceOver shouldn't have
too much problems with it. Last time I checked most console apps for
Mac were pretty much accessible.

Cheers!

2011-12-24 Thread Dennis Towne
Muds are platform agnostic; it does not make sense to say that there
are no accessible muds for the mac. That said, there are very few
mudding clients for the mac platform, so finding a client that is
accessible may be tough. MushZ for example, does not have a mac
version.

The two mac clients that I know our players use are:

Savitar: http://www.heynow.com/Savitar/
Mudwalker: http://mudwalker.cubik.org/

There's also a huge list of mac mudding clients available at:

http://www.hsoi.net/mud/clients/

There's no mention of accessibility, but I would be surprised if fewer
than half were usable.

Re: [Audyssey] IF client and MUD client.

2011-12-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,

HI could certainly write such a mud client, but without
regular access to a Mac there would be no way for me to build and test
it unless I developed it using a cross-platform language like Java or
Python and used something like Festival or FreeTTS for speech output.
If that sounds agreeable I might consider such a project, but I'd
neede to know the specifications you were looking for in advance.

Cheers!

Hay, well i've got four gig of ram and a 500 gb hard drive. I don't know what
other mudders who use a mac think but i'd want it to remember your muds you'd
played and also have sound capabilities. There is a mud client out there for
the mac but setting it up is a pain.
