A lot of the complexity of coding such a beast would be your definition of what Mahjong is. There's apparently a number of different variations ranging from relatively simple to immensely complex. Our card game Rummy is based on it. I studied a couple of simpler multi-player versions, and had a simpler solitaire set up explained to me by my wife. The game's setup as a solitaire game presents some unique challenges in an audio environment, having multiple levels, some of which you can see only partially that all must be displayed more or less simultaneously. In the traditional games, the challenge is more one of mastering the rule sets well enough to create a game that accurately reproduces the game play. Warning: I did not investigate American Mahjong extensively because it appears much simpler and more derivative from the original versions. That said, it might be a way to progress. If I were to attempt it, with the help of my pet coder (hi Aaron! that's you), I'd lean toward doing a multi-player version based on the Hong Kong old style rules I studied. They seemed simple enough to master relatively easily, complex enough to be interesting, and different enough from card games to present a unique challenge. That said, I don't see it happening any time soon. I need to get a Mahjong set and experiment with it before I could design an AI that played even reasonably well. The spoonbill games do tend to be very well designed and put together, even their simpler ones like mastermind with lots of random features etc. I haven't particularly got into their chess challenge game sinse I don't find I can play chess looking at a board square by square but would want the hole board in front of me, but I am rather fond of their whist and cribbage games. Their hearts is good too though I can usually wipe the floor with the computer on that one :D. Beware the grue! There are the two Kchess games, elite and advanced from arc angle software that have play against the computer, I've also heard shreader for Ios is accessible though I'm not certain on that one. As for Mahjong unfortunately not that I know, indeed I slightly wish there were sinse I have never played Mahjong but would be interested in learning. its too bad the windows chess can't have an NVDA addon to make it more accessible. it is mostly accessible i think but I'm not sure what keyboard commands to use to play it. the windows7 chess titans game that is. I can arrow over the board no problem. it reads the board and pieces and if spaces are empty. i don't think it would take much to make it completely accessible plus its free. Shredder Chess for the iPhone is very accessible. I use it extensively. The only thing that I find that you cannot do using Voice-Over is to set up and play from a position. As for the Arkangles software, the Elite is the one that I would prefer. It is better than the Advanced.
