Re: [Audyssey] the Iphone cometh

2012-11-10 Thread Jesse Gaona
Hi Dark.
There's actually a game called Zanytouch that deals with the iPhone gestures.
It's similar to the kid's game Bopit. The only downfall is that you will have
to turn off VoiceOver off as soon as the game starts, but the menu is
accessible. The game cost about $2 to $3. There was; however, a free demo that
allowed you to play the first couple of levels. I'm not sure if the demo is
still available though.

this morning I phoned several mobile phone companies, did a little

know), and finally found a deal that suited me.

An Iphone 5 with 64 gb hard drive, unlimited internet (and on a
network with reasonable Uk coverage), and enough minutes of phone
time to do what I want, at a not unreasonable price (after deducting
cost of the phone it worked out that I'm paying 19 quid a month for
phone and net service, the same hone service that I'm currently
getting for 10, and yes, I think unlimited internet on my phone is!
worth 9 squid a month).

the handset should be turning up in about two and a half weeks (they
seem to be on slow cover).

So, hurrah!

Now for the serious question. are there any tutorials or other
recoies resources on voice over I could look at? I know that the
thing can be started by I believe hitting the apple button 3 times,
but I'd like to know a few other commands, perhaps if there is a

Indeed, I'd be happy to listen to some podcasts or read a manual
before the thing turns up if anyone can recommend any links.

So, hopefully I should be to getting slaughtered by everyone at

Oh and yes this does! also mean I'll be able to start adding more

That's pretty amazing.

Just got my iPhone, opted for the cheapest model, but I'm happy.

Pretty much everything costs money, and that you guys can get things
done for a little less is great.

What with me hailing from across the big blue bucket, I seem sadly
unequipped in some ways by comparison. Also, I can't use the Nightjar,
which i forgot about until I couldn't download it.

The iPhone is much more flexible and useful than I figured it would
be. My only complaint, and this is without a lot of research, is that
I can't seem to drag and drop or hold on things, so that means limited
functionality in some apps, no sliding, and no ability to reorganize
my apps on the screen, which is kind of a bummer, because they're
organized terribly by default.

Still, that's like complaining about a skinned knee when the doctors

Hi Dakotah

Know its really off topic but if you want to move *drag icons) from memory
you double tap and hold on the second tab until you hear a noise then
without lifting your finger move the icon around. for example I set up a
'games' folder on the front page and store all games there. It's a little
more complicated though as there are things to make it either drop into a
folder or next to an icon and for moving pages etc. it might be worth
goggling it for more details or write me off list and I can try to give
more instructions.

2012-11-09 Thread Alex Wallis

Hi dark,
I am sure it would be fine for you to buy the phone from apple then get
some kind of sim free plan separately.
Its certainly worth you persuing the vat free option as for example, a
sim free iPhone with 64 gb usually costs about £700.
If you get it without vat its about £560, so a big saving as I am sure
you can appreciate.
Some apple stores are not aware of the phone being vat free for blind
people,
but I know that my local store is, and so are the ones in belfast and
covent garden so if a store says to you that's not right about vat free,
just try different stores til you find one that is aware,

but from what I hear the majority of stores do seem to know about this.

Hi Dark,
did you ask for the phone without vat?
As if your deaf or blind in the UK you have the right to by any Apple
products vat free that include features such as VoiceOver or adaptations
for the deaf both of which the iPhone have.

This doesn't apply to accessories though.
You get a significant saving if you can get it vat free about 20 percent
off.

Pretty much most Apple stores are aware that you are entitled to the phone
vat free, I believe you have to fill out a vat exemption form, but the
savings are worth it.
The reasoning you can get the vat off is because of the adaptations apple
builds in such as VoiceOver, zooms and compatibility with hearing aids.

Hi everyone.

Well I've gone and done it.

this morning I phoned several mobile phone companies, did a little
smugglers style cost analysis, (how the sales reps for these people can
get jobs withoutbeing able to do symple mathematics I don't know), and
finally found a deal that suited me.

An Iphone 5 with 64 gb hard drive, unlimited internet (and on a network
with reasonable Uk coverage), and enough minutes of phone time to do what
I want, at a not unreasonable price (after deducting cost of the phone it
worked out that I'm paying 19 quid a month for phone and net service, the
same hone service that I'm currently getting for 10, and yes, I think
unlimited internet on my phone is! worth 9 squid a month).

the handset should be turning up in about two and a half weeks (they seem
to be on slow cover).

So, hurrah!

Now for the serious question. are there any tutorials or other recoies
resources on voice over I could look at? I know that the thing can be
started by I believe hitting the apple button 3 times, but I'd like to
know a few other commands, perhaps if there is a help system on the phone
itself?

Indeed, I'd be happy to listen to some podcasts or read a manual before
the thing turns up if anyone can recommend any links.

So, hopefully I should be to getting slaughtered by everyone at lost
cities or command my armies on dragon pass or get munched by zombies on
pappa sanga relatively soon :D.

Oh and yes this does! also mean I'll be able to start adding more Iphone
entries to the db, though I'll probably need to play a little with vo
first to get to grips with it, indeed if anyone has any fun games
or applications I coul practice with I'd appreciate that too.

All the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] the Iphone cometh

2012-11-09 Thread dark

Hi.

to explain, yes, it was indeed with three sinse they're the only company
with unlimited internet useage and I do plan to do lots of online game
playing and ap downloading.

I phoned apple for the costs of the various phones, and then worked things
out. The 64 gb hard drive phone from apple cost £699. three's upfront cost
was 260, with 34 a month for two years. Hence, 1120, minus 2260 devided by
24 gives monthly wrate for the actual service. Sinse I am currently paying
10 pounds a month for 500 free minutes, I obviously didn't want this to
increase too much.

I checked out several plans, and that one worked out best. three charged 99
quid for the 16 gb modell up front, or 199 for the 32 gb, however those
both worked out a little higher monthly costs (around £19 instead of £17),
and also as I said the extra space is usefull.

Other companies I looked at weren't half as good, indeed tesco mobile (who
currently provide my phone contract), charged 400! then 30 a month for two
years for only 1 gb internet, which is pretty shoddy in comparison.

Anyway, as Ibrahim said this isn't game related so I'd better stop now.

Either way, good deal got and Iphone arrival iminent (or at least in the
next tthree weeks).

beware the grue!

Dark.

Hi everyone.

Well I've gone and done it.

this morning I phoned several mobile phone companies, did a little
smugglers style cost analysis, (how the sales reps for these people can
get jobs withoutbeing able to do symple mathematics I don't know), and
finally found a deal that suited me.

Re: [Audyssey] the Iphone cometh

2012-11-09 Thread Ibrahim Gucukoglu

Hi Daren.

Hmmm, sounds like a Three deal to me, though he did say after deducting the
price of the phone. He probably had to cough a hefty up front cost for the
handset itself, the cheapest I could find it for was £110 up front and
that's on their one plan with 2000 minutes, 5000 texts and unlimited
internet, what they call all you can eat. Anyway, this has nothing to do
with gaming so I suggest we drop it ay?

All the best, Ibrahim.
