There is. It's called Formel 1 Spirit. There are no other cars to race

Hi guys,
First of all, thanks for the tracks man. I missed some of those,
especially the fast ones that handle nicely.
Is this game still under development--is there ever going to be a TS 4? I
think the biggest issue I have with every racing game I've played is that
when you turn the wheel or whatever, you simply slide in the direction
you turn. I am longing for a game that uses real driving mechanics. What
I mean is, if you're driving down a straightaway and there's a left turn
coming up, you turn left. Then you go out of the turn, and chances are
that in the real world you wouldn't be facing exactly down the street.
You would find yourself drifting to one side of the road or the other as
often as not, unless your aim was perfect.
Also, I've been told that little bumps and imperfections in the road
alter your course too. I used to put my hands on the wheel when Dad
drove, and he was always making tiny course adjustments.
Finally, the last thing I'd like to see in TS4 if it ever comes out is
the ability to pass other cars. That is, once you've done a complete lap
around them you should be able to catch up to and pass them again. This
is one of the things I like about Jim Kitchen's original Mach1 game, and
would love to see it in TS4.
By the way, these features are present in Crazy Drivers, but it's not
really a racing game. As soon as I can get joystick/wheel support, I'll
release the alpha to you all... but then I'm going to take a time out and
learn VB.net and XAudio2 if I can. Meantime, I hope you'll have a bit of
fun with CD.

the space bar acts like a horn, right? Well, I discovered that you

I do not know if this has already been suggested, but is it

Anyhow, I thought I might point this out. This was with Top Speed

On a side note here: My friends and I are finding out that when you
are using a computer that is receiving internet from a router, you

Re: [Audyssey] Top Speed Discovery

2012-06-03 Thread Kevin Andrews

Alfredo,

It is possible to play top speed even if you're behind a router. If the
host is behind a router they simply need to forward the correct port,
and the process for doing this varies slightly depending on the
configuration of the router. I've played with friends, and the host was
behind a router. If you're all on the same network then obviously none
of that needs to be done. As far as your suggestion, I do agree that
would be a nice feature - perhaps they'll add it in a future release.

Re: [Audyssey] top speed driving

2011-12-03 Thread Davy Kager
Hi,

Yes, automatic transmission is recommended if you're just starting out, it
means you don't have to worry about so many keys. I find that driving using
the keyboard is easier than using a steering wheel, but the latter is certainly
possible. I tested the game using a cheap Sweex steering wheel with
force-feedback, and it worked reasonably well, it just is something to get used
to. Also, there are a few settings in the Options menu that change when and
how curves are announced, perhaps you get better results with different
settings. We did set them up to suit the majority of people, but they're there
for a reason.

HTH,
Davy

Hi Everyone,

Just tried a game of top speed3. I think instead of driving I should rename
myself to crashing, because I sure did that a lot. I was hoping for some
driving tips so I could limit my crashing. First of all, is it better to play
ts3 with keyboard or steering wheel? If the latter, which kind should I get? I
am also assuming automatic transmission is better for newbie driver/crashers
like me? Tips appreciated, I don't think my stomach could take any more of the
self murth that I was doing, it was helarious and I was the one doing the
crashing, definitely lost a lot from the time when I could see and play the old
atari pole position.

Thanks.

yes you certainly can create tracks and cars, there's documentation on how

out top speed, but there are three different versions, what are the
differences between them and which would be a recommendation to get?

Thanks.
Dave.

Hi friends. Do you think that one day it would be possible to create an
online gaming like for example Soundrts.
Because it's dificult to find people for playing when we don't know each
other, it's very hard to meet and give the ip adress.
I think that if it uses the system similar to soundrts where a person
creates a server and then everyone can join would be easier.
it was just my idea.

I tried making a track using the tutorial and succeeded. Now I want the
track to be a street adventure. In the tutorial it stands that the
filename has to start with adv. And, when I rename the file adding the
adv it doesn't work. But if I rename the sound file too adding adv, the
track works, but it is still a race track, because I race in 3 laps,
exactly as I set in the options for the number of laps. So, how to make
my track a stree adventure? And will it be available to choose from when
playing on the internet?

  Thanks and best regards!

Re: [Audyssey] Top speed, sugestion

2011-01-16 Thread shaun everiss

the issue is also timezones and connections.
Right now in summer here in nz I am bored.
Timezones are not all though, its to hot to do anything after midday here.
In fact I am up this early in the morning about 4am so I can get some
work done.
by 1 pm I won't have the energy to get out of my chair, I won't even
have the energy to seriously hack any code or anything togeter.
In fact if converting the topspeed vehicles was hard than it was I
probably wouldn't have been bothered at all.

Going back on to the online thing.
I have a good ish connection but I have had bad ones and there is
nothing like bing disconnected just when you want to move.

Bandwidth is another.
The days of unlimited flatrates are over.
You pay per gb of data, 2 bucks with a base package of so much and
maybe addon blocks, then you pay or go to dialup.
Most of my bandwidth is used for downloads, gaming, updates, audio
drama, scifi books pdodcasts, the list goes on.

As you can see that exceeds on ocation my allowed bandwidth.
So gaming on top of that, hmmm.
Then there is actual time I can spend vs time I take to do things life wise.
Lately with it being so hot I have found it necessary to get stuff
done I would need to, it always happens I have a big plan what to do,
but never have the time to do it all.
Maybe planned games I may try to get but may not, sertainly instant
gaming is not likely.
I have rsclient and railracer but I just don't have time to play them
anymore or at least right now.
I do actually plan not to renew my rr reg since I need to pay once I
get my new system because I just don't play it.

Hello,

I tried this, and it worked fine for me. My files were named "advTest.trk"
and "advTest.wav". Can you tell me what the filenames of your track and
wave-file are, please? Also, be sure to end your definition with "-1".

That'd be nice. I only did some brief testing, with a lot of speech
disabled (usually I have all of it disabled, so I don't know how realistic
my tests were). At any rate, we'll include a WE package to fix the
association in the next installer we cook up.

Hello Davy. I can't test this right now during the day, but I would
imagine that if a Window-Eyes user has keyboard voice on and arrow
speaking on, maybe it will speak. So by using the silent.000 file, all
this would be disabled. I'd be happy to try this out from my home PC
later.

Thanks.

I think it's a neat gesture to include this. In fact, I would have
even suggested including the window-Eyes silent.000 set file with .we
association so that Window-Eyes also goes to sleep when the game is run.

To clarify this for everybody, after the release of Top Speed 3 a
few people reported bugs, that we would usually fix within a day or
so. However, not all bug fixes and new features get posted
immediately, because of the fuss of compiling a new installer and
all that. Therefore, I am posting "interim releases" to
RubyAccess.com. These are the things we'd normally send to our
beta-testers, and they are meant for people who had issues, to see
if we successfully resolved them. They are not installers, just
the main "TopSpeed.exe" file. We will soon be releasing a final,
fourth build of the Top Speed 3 installer, that will include all
the changes we made after the first release last
Tuesday. Meanwhile, grab your "cutting edge" executable at

Topspeed doesn't allow the volume control.
Please replace your TopSpeed.exe with the one found at
http://www.rubyaccess.com/TopSpeed.exe - this should fix the issue.
Alternatively, wait a few days to get a full installer.

If you're that short of RAM you'd better not play Top Speed anyway. ;-)
Furthermore, many people like task switching, which is made possible by
a sleeping JAWS.

Rather than putting JAWS to sleep, uninstall if from memory with insert
f4 before starting any game. It will then have absolutely no affect on
the game. When you put JAWS to sleep, it still is in memory and can
affect game play by decreasing the amount of RAM available to the game,
among other things.

As I stated in a previous post, nobody is forcing you or anyone to use the
configuration file. I mean, of course we didn't have to include it, it's
just a nice and helpful bonus. Next release we may also not include
shortcuts in the Start menu, for if you truly master your Windows Explorer

Hello!

Also, please keep in mind that we're not forcing you to use this
configuration file to put JAWS into sleep mode (and neither are we forcing
you to use JAWS in the first place). To us it merely seemed that having to
disable your screenreader to play a game is a very crude way of doing

Re: [Audyssey] top speed 3

2011-01-14 Thread Davy Kager

is that patch on the download page I never saw it.
To clarify this for everybody, after the release of Top Speed 3 a few
people reported bugs, that we would usually fix within a day or so.
However, not all bug fixes and new features get posted immediately, because
of the fuss of compiling a new installer and all that. Therefore, I am
posting "interim releases" to RubyAccess.com. These are the things we'd
normally send to our beta-testers, and they are meant for people who had
issues, to see if we successfully resolved them. They are not installers,
just the main "TopSpeed.exe" file. We will soon be releasing a final,
fourth build of the Top Speed 3 installer, that will include all the changes
we made after the first release last Tuesday. Meanwhile, grab your "cutting
edge" executable at http://www.rubyaccess.com/TopSpeed.exe

  Hi all,
I noticed that there are scripts for Jaws included with the TS3. What do
we need them for? I mean, why are they included with the game when the
game is self-voicing?

  Best regards,

This is all explained in the manual...

It's not a JAWS script. It's a configuration file to put JAWS to sleep.

You don't really. You just need to go into the settings manager or the
configuration manager for that particular game and set jaws to go onto sleep
mode when said game or application is open.

Rather than putting JAWS to sleep, uninstall if from memory with
insert f4 before starting any game. It will then have absolutely
no affect on the game. When you put JAWS to sleep, it still is in
memory and can affect game play by decreasing the amount of RAM
available to the game, among other things.

Top Speed 3 should now finally be able to properly handle 12 buttons, two

Hi Davy,

Yeah, you know, I was thinking that the 10 buttons may just have been the
number of buttons that the code found on the joystick (steering wheel)
that I had plugged in at the time. It may find more or less depending on
what stick or pad I plug in.

Just one little typo and it made the entire code useless.

Top Speed can do that with joystick buttons, and possibly more, as well.
But it would appear that the input manager had some issues (we don't touch
that code too often). Also I meant to send the full changelog to Audyssey,
thinking that the list wouldn't mind a 25 KB file. But I think it didn't
work out too well after all. *laughs*

For n = 0 To joyCaps.lButtons - 1

I do have some trouble in using the second stick on a game pad. Don't

Greetings List.

I don't know if it's just me, but Top Speed 3 seems to have issues with
game pads that have a lot of buttons, which is frustrating since it has
plenty of assignable functions, and there's currently no way to bypass a
particular assignment. This means you get stuck during controller
configuration, and have to escape out without being able to commit the
changes.

My Logitech Rumblepad II, for example, will only allow me to assign
functions to buttons 1 through 4, the POV hat, and the right analog axis.
I can understand the analog axis issue, but not the inability for the
program to assign functions to buttons 5 through 12.

I was told this is a DirectX issue, but seeing as Windows itself
recognizes all the buttons and axis's in the test applet, and seeing as I
can successfully use all buttons and axis's in EPSXE and other emulators,
I sincerely wonder if such is the case.

Anyone able to enlighten me on this issue?

Kai

2010-12-26 Thread Dakotah Rickard
Just a reminder.
This is a topic I can't solve on my own.
Any help would be helpful.

To refresh,
I can't start a Top Speed server on either one of my Windows XP
machines. They are fully updated to the latest specification and the
only constantly running programs are Microsoft Security Essentials and
Skype.
I've tried it with my firewall, from Windows, on and off. I've created
exceptions for the Top Speed program and the Microsoft DirectPlay
server on both machines. I really could use some help.

Hi.
I open up the topspeed.cfg file and type the IP address at the bottom of
the
file. There will be a line that says multiplayer=. Type the IP address
after

that, save the file with ctrl+s and try to connect afterwards.

By the way, topspeed.cfg is located in the program files directory under
playinginthedark\topspeed2 or what ever the name of that folder is. If you
can't get a program to open it automatically when you press enter on it,
context key on it and go to open with. Select notepad. That seems to work
fine.

Hi!

For those who don't know yet, the syntax used in custom track and vehicle

All the changes will be discussed in the release announcement when the time

Cheers!

Oh, I see what you mean now; true the Utility pack would not help you
getting your cars and tracks back.

No. I said that the utility pack doesn't download anymore.

Plus, I don't believe my cars and tracks made it up there anyway.
Thanks for the attempt, but I'm now mostly focused on trying to get my
own stuff back, and the ts2 utility pack isn't really that helpful for
that.

The reason for this is the Top Speed 2.1 update; this update includes the
utility pack already installed with it. Also, it has some great additions to
the tracks, cars, and menu system, which has been consolidated beautifully.

Hello,
I was wondering if there are any websites that have a collection of cars and
tracks created by others for top speed 2. I've found a few, but all of the
sites I've found are down. Is there one I'm missing?
Thanks.
