That's because most of them stay in Florida and get paid in sunshine (and

UF
students can party, but earn less than others

by Nathan Crabbe -
Gainesville SUN

University of Florida students might want to save some of their beer money
to supplement their incomes after they graduate.

A new survey
finds that UF lags behind several other universities deemed to be party
schools in the earning potential of graduates. While the Princeton Review
ranks UF as nation
 's top party
school, the survey places the income of Gator grads behind five other
schools on the same list.

UF graduates with bachelor's degrees earn average starting salaries of
$47,300 and mid-career slaries of $88,400, according to the survey.

PayScale, a Web site that collects salary data, put together the
information. The numbers come from 1.2 million site users who reported their
education and salary information over the past year, according to the New
York Times
 .

The list of party schools ranked according to median mid-career salaries is
below. Check out the site for the full rankings
, which place UF behind several other state schools.

680/The Fan becomes the Atlanta flagship for… the Florida Gators!

4:51 pm July 22, 2009, by Rodney Ho

After three years airing Auburn football, the Fan today announced it is the
flagship station for the Florida Gators, the No. 1 college football team in
America.

With 790/The Zone airing Georgia Tech football and 750/WSB-AM doing the same
with UGA, 680/The Fan has no local team to support. So why not take
advantage of the huge influx of alums and fans from outside Atlanta?

“We’re not only carrying the reigning national champs but it’s also a direct
plug in to some of the best football matchups in the country,” said the Fan
VP *David Dickey*, who is a Gator alum.

*Is this a smart pickup by 680/The Fan?*

   - The Gators are awesome. Can't wait!
   - Bring back Auburn!!!
   - Who cares? I'll be over at WSB (or the Zone) anyway.

View
Results

He noted that Florida will be playing Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida
State and of course, UGA. So if you want to hear the game from two different
perspectives on the radio this fall, this is your chance.

Dickey said the deal will go year by year but the station could go long term
if it so chooses.

He feels Florida has a solid shot at winning again and bringing in plenty of
listeners, too.

Kiffin says Tebow has his vote

The Associated Press

Published: Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 7:55 a.m.
Last Modified: Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 7:55 a.m.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin says Florida quarterback Tim
Tebow earned his vote for the coaches' preseason All-SEC team.

Tebow wasn't a unanimous first-team pick, but Kiffin praised him Tuesday as
"potentially the best college player ever" if the quarterback's senior
season is anything like his previous seasons.

Kiffin recruited Tebow when he was an assistant at Southern California. He
said he was struck by Tebow's confidence and was convinced Tebow would win a
lot of college games. Tebow has since won the 2007 Heisman Trophy and two
national championships withFlorida.

And Kiffin thinks Tebow will have little problem acheiving that level of
success in the NFL.

ESPN Regional Television and the SEC have announced a regionally syndicated
college sports package that will air in more than 73 television markets.
Included in that will be the branding of the syndication package as the SEC
Network.

The SEC and ESPN recently signed a 15-year contract, and coverage on the SEC
Network will include football, men's and women's basketball.

"As ESPN moves forward in this landmark agreement with the SEC, ESPN
Regional Television is thrilled to provide our viewers with a consistent
window for Southeastern Conference football and basketball," said Pete
Derzis, senior vice president & general manager of ESPN Regional Television.
"With ESPN's multimedia platforms, we anticipate SEC sports will touch an
unprecedented base of college fans nationwide."

Beginning Sept. 5, the SEC Network, which will be carried on WOGX in
Gainesville, will air 13 regular-season football games. The noon telecasts
will have a different touch than previous deals with Jefferson Pilot and
Lincoln Financial in that they will open with a live SEC studio show, which
will be based out of Charlotte and hosted by Rob Stone and former Georgia
offensive lineman Matt Stinchcomb.

Kickoff will be at 12:21 p.m., and the games will be called by Dave Neal,
1989 Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware and sideline reporter Cara Capuano.

The regular-season SEC men's basketball package on the SEC Network beginning
in January will consist of Wednesday and Saturday games, including
doubleheaders. The SEC Network will also offer regional coverage of multiple
rounds from the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament as well as SEC women's
basketball games on Sundays, also beginning in January.

"The SEC Network, through the efforts of ESPN, will be the largest college
sports syndication television package in the country," SEC Commissioner Mike
Slive said. "The comprehensive market coverage in the nine-state SEC area
combined with the out-of-market reach gives us significant additional
exposure for our programs."

In other television news, Sun Sports announced a new program called "SEC
Gridiron LIVE," a 60-minute studio show offering game previews, analysis and
a social networking component that enables fan interaction. Premiering on
Sept. 2 at 10 p.m., "SEC Gridiron LIVE" is hosted by broadcasting veteran
Charles Davis, with analysts Randy Cross, a longtime NFL lineman; and former
Georgia defensive end David Pollack, as well as social media reporter
Cassidy Hubbarth.

SEC Gridiron LIVE will be distributed to more than 24 million cable and
satellite households on the FSN regional networks throughout the SEC
territory.

"As a former SEC football player and a lifelong fan, I am thrilled for the
opportunity to host SEC Gridiron LIVE," said Davis, a former Tennessee
defensive back. "SEC football fans are incredibly knowledgeable and
opinionated, and our show gives them the chance to voice their views and

Tebow has since won the 2007 Heisman Trophy and two
national championships with Florida.

And Kiffin thinks Tebow will have little problem acheiving that level of
success in the NFL.

maybe he voted for someone else. Spurrier? Maybe he secretly hates Tebow
for not playing for the greatest quarterback coach.

Tebow has since won the 2007 Heisman Trophy and two
national championships with Florida.

And Kiffin thinks Tebow will have little problem acheiving that level of
success in the NFL.

Unfortunately there is a "TBA" listed for the Ft. Pierce/ WPB area. I
certainly hope they get a station. It would be terrible to have moved back

ESPN will produce SEC games on regional TV

"SEC football fans are incredibly knowledgeable and
opinionated, and our show gives them the chance to voice their views and
opinions each week. That spirited interaction among fans and the on-air team
is what will set SEC Gridiron LIVE apart and it's something that really
excites me. I'm looking forward to working with Randy, David and Cassidy to
make this show very special."

University of Florida students might want to save some of their beer money
to supplement their incomes after they graduate.

A new survey
finds that UF lags behind several other universities deemed to be party
schools in the earning potential of graduates. While the Princeton Review
ranks UF as nations top party school
 , the survey
places the income of Gator grads behind five other schools on the same list.

UF graduates with bachelors degrees earn average starting salaries of
$47,300 and mid-career slaries of $88,400, according to the survey.

PayScale, a Web site that collects salary data, put together the
information. The numbers come from 1.2 million site users who reported their
education and salary information over the past year, according to the New
York Times
 .

The list of party schools ranked according to median mid-career salaries is
below. Check out the site for the full rankings

Kiffin says Tebow has his vote

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin says Florida quarterback Tim
Tebow earned his vote for the coaches' preseason All-SEC team.

Tebow wasn't a unanimous first-team pick, but Kiffin praised him Tuesday as
"potentially the best college player ever" if the quarterback's senior
season is anything like his previous seasons.

Kiffin recruited Tebow when he was an assistant at Southern California. He
said he was struck by Tebow's confidence and was convinced Tebow would win a
lot of college games. Tebow has since won the 2007 Heisman Trophy and two
national championships with Florida.

And Kiffin thinks Tebow will have little problem acheiving that level of
success in the NFL.

That's because most of them stay in Florida and get paid in sunshine (and
proximity to Gator games).
