'Noles DC Andrews gets testy with writer

Posted by John Taylor on October 13, 2009 6:56 PM ET

Needless to say, these aren't the best of times for the Florida State football program. They are losing on the field, which has led to off-field questions surrounding the future of the Seminoles.

It's also apparently leading to frayed nerves and quick tempers.

FSU defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews -- in charge of the 108th-ranked defense in the country -- met with the media today, and had a rather testy exchange with Andrew Carter of the Orlando Sentinel. Here's Carter's account of the exchange, which was precipitated by Carter asking Andrews about scheme adjustments that might be able to be made to help the defense's performance.

Andrew Carter: Are there are any adjustments in scheme you can make that would help you guys through these issues?Mickey Andrews: Do you not think I would make an adjustment if I could do it? Now that's a crazy (very bad word) question. And I hope that answer was as crazy as the question.

AC: Well the same things keep on happening over and over.

MA: Well you want to come do my job?

AC: I can't.

MA: It's our job and it's our job to get it done.

To Andrews' credit, he later apologized to Carter for the exchange. And, to Carter's credit, he accepted the long-time coordinator's apology, writing that he feels for Andrews given his history of success as "one of the best defensive coordinators in the history of the sport."

But, yet again, it's another example that there needs to be some conclusion to this Bowden situation sooner rather than later. And, preferably, behind closed doors, with everyone involved acting like the adults they supposedly are.

The problem is that you are an ACC fan and there are so many losers around you
- your DVR is trying to record everything ACC - which it can't - so it simply
picks the biggest loser in a loser conference in your loser life.

P.S. I hear the Bobby Bowden show is getting expanded coverage and becoming
more interesting. Please don't confuse the Bobby Bowden show with the Jerry
Springer show. Bobby is the older one with less hair.

[gatortalk] Re: Soooo glad to see him sitting up

2009-10-15 Thread John Vega
Hmm.

I do not think that pulling up the 1994 FSU game is a fair comparison.

FSU was the returning National Champions, ranked #7 in the country,
had already clinched the ACC title, had one of the better offenses in
the nation, and was favored to win the game.

Kentucky had lost to us 28 times in a row, was unranked, was a huge
underdog, and is 76th in the country in scoring offense and 89th in
total offense.

I would also add that, relying upon my memory, our 1994 defense was
very good but not great. I would consider our defense this year to be
great, right alongside the mid-80s defenses with Wilber.

I don't think that using a historical example that an explosive
offense can score points in a hurry proves that an anemic offense can
do the same.

There is no such thing as a game being well in hand, since we've

suggest differently, but I have no gripe with Tebow being in the game

Yep, you are the only one. Not a single Auburn fan feels the same way :)

The HE15MAN trophy is for the most outstanding collegiate player. There are
no other qualifiers on the ballot other than most outstanding. I had this
discussion with a buddy the other day who was arguing about all these
players that have this stat or that stat and the only reason they aren't top
3 in the polls is because they don't play for Florida, Texas or Notre Dame.

My response is simple. If you could pick any one player in college to join
your team, who would it be? I'm not saying it would be unanimous, but with
that question, Tebow would be far in the lead. He is simply the most
outstanding.

would enjoy as we were getting ready for a busy Saturday of partying. Fred was
one of them, as well as Tweety, Yogi Bear, and my personal favorite... the Road

'Noles DC Andrews gets testy with writer

Needless to say, these aren't the best of times for the Florida
State football program. They are losing on the field, which has led to
off-field questions surrounding the future of the Seminoles.

It's also apparently leading to frayed nerves and quick tempers.

FSU defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews -- in charge of the
108th-ranked defense in the country -- met with the media today, and had a
rather testy exchange with Andrew Carter of the Orlando Sentinel. Here's
Carter's account of the exchange, which was precipitated by Carter asking
Andrews about scheme adjustments that might be able to be made to help the
defense's performance.

The years are ticking past,

tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...until...

It was a Randoo of a day for Randy's Mom

way back when...and, still,

yesterday and yesterday and yesterday.

All we should have to say is, Way to go Mom!

and, of course, we hope you had a happy one,

whoever you could be or might yet become.

2009-10-15 Thread Gatornet Admin

AFTER my birthday. ;-)

But thanks, anyway! :)

I prefer confession to accusation, acknowledgement to denial, appearance to
slinking away into shadows of tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...
