Yep! I'm a little confused by the re-hire as well. On the surface it appears to
be revisionist history white washing his previous firing. He appears to be an
excellent recruiter, but like you I thought his coaching was being questioned?

One of the things many people have worried about during this recruiting
cycle has been how recruits have reacted to the relatively different looking
Florida coaching staff.

Charlie Strong was such a strong recruiter and one of the most well
respected defensive coordinators in college football. Now, he's at
Louisville. Billy Gonzales was probably Florida's most personable recruiter
behind Urban Meyer. Gonzales was so good that he could pull any sort of
player, and he was just a receivers coach. Now, he's at LSU. Former running
backs coach Kenny Carter wasn't known for being the greatest recruiter, but
he did enough to keep Lithonia, Ga., Martin Luther King running back Mack
Brown comfortable with his Gator commitment. Even after Meyer's health saga
began, it was Carter who kept Brown in the fold. It wasn't until Carter
decided to follow Strong to Louisville that things got a little foggy with
Brown.

Brown said he was "confused" about what to do. But he had every intention of
waiting to see who Florida brought in and how he connected with the new
coach before he madea final decision about his college destination.

Well, Florida did a great job easing Brown's nerves by rehiring Stan
Drayton. While at Florida - before Carter's tenure - Drayton was labeled as
one of the top recruiters in the country. He did an excellent job during his
first stint in Gainesville, and Brown said after visiting with Drayton
during an in-home visit and then seeing him again during his official visit
last weekend, he's "pretty firm" on his Gator commitment and has decided not
to entertain any other coaches from different schools or take any other
official visits.

"Coach Drayton, he's been at Florida before, so I trust Coach Drayton,"
Brown said. "I'm ready to learn from him.

"He seems like he knows everything at Florida. He knows what he's doing and
he knows a lot about the running back position."

Replacing Gonzales figured to be quite a chore for Florida's staff, but
shortly after Zach Azzanni was hired, the Gators grabbed West Palm Beach
Dwyer receiver Robert Clark's commitment. He said it was the relationship he
developed with Azzanni while at Florida's summer camps that really helped
him earn trust in his future coach.

Then there was the replacement of Strong. The defensive coordinator. The guy
that runs the defense. The one you report to last when you miss a tackle,
regardless of where you're playing. Meyer took his time in picking the right
replacement, and it worked out.

Former Miami Dolphins linebackers coach George Edwards brings NFL experience
and an attractive resume. He also brings the opportunity for Florida to run
a 3-4 defense, which could be very attractive to high school defenders.

Miami Booker T. Washington defensive end commit Lynden Trail, who is
becoming a fan favorite with his extremely pro-Gator attitude, got to meet
Edwards this past weekend and came away impressed.

"Coach Edwards seems like a real cool guy, real down-to-earth guy," Trail
said. "He doesn't seem as intense as (the other coaches), but I think he's
like that because he's new to the program and sooner or later, his intensity
will show."

during an in-home visit and then seeing him again during his official visit
last weekend, he's "pretty firm" on his Gator commitment and has decided not
to entertain any other coaches from different schools or take any other
official visits.

"Coach Edwards seems like a real cool guy, real down-to-earth guy," Trail
said. "He doesn't seem as intense as (the other coaches), but I think he's
like that because he's new to the program and sooner or later, his intensity
will show."

As for playing in the 3-4? Trail said he didn't care what kind of defense
the Gators run. He just wants to get on the field and help however he can.

Like many of the other committed prospects who were on campus over the
weekend, Trail said he wanted to take the time to see how the coaches and
players were interacting with each other, considering all the change.

Everything wasn't just good, it was "great," Trail said.

"It felt really family-oriented and it made me feel even better about my
choice," he said. "With the campus and the people that they have around it,
I wanted to see how it really felt after the football season. It feels like
people love Florida. It's a college town. It's great town."

Low-key weekend

Florida is set to only host three official visitors this weekend - Ronald
Powell, Michael McFarland and Tyler Murphy.

Here's a little bit about each .

* Powell - Well, there's really not much more to say about the best
high school football player in the country. The Moreno Valley, Calif.,
Rancho Verde defensive end will be on campus to finally get the royal
treatment. Remember, all of his other three visits to Gainesville were on
his own dime. This will just be a chance for him to go out with players and
sit and talk to as many coaches as he'd like. It's more of a vacation for
Powell. He's as solid as they come.

* McFarland - He's been relatively quiet since he committed. At
6-foot-6, 230 pounds, the Tampa Blake tight end has the right size to be a
factor, but he's very raw. This is a chance for him to get on campus and
talk more

I know it's still early, but if we continue to improve like we have, maybe
we can make the NCAA again.

I thought we played well, but were still undisciplined at times. This is a
young team and hasn't learned how to play a full 40 minutes. I am concerned
as the season goes on as to how fatigued they will be. I fear another
February collapse.

Having said that, this team is a lot more fun to watch than last year. They
work well as a team when they are on, and as long as Macklin stays out of
foul trouble they can be very good.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - In a road game that Florida needed, sophomore guard
Erving Walker and the rest of the Gators delivered.

Three questions, three answers

1. Can the Florida starting backcourt of freshman Kenny Boynton and
sophomore Erving Walker keep up their hot shooting in SEC play?
Walker stayed hot, making 7-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-6 from 3-point
range to put together a career-high 27-point performance. Boynton, on the
other hand, was just 5-for-13 from the floor and 1-for-7 from 3-point range.
But Walker provided enough production to lift the Gators to the road win.

2. How well can Florida limit the 3-point shooting of Arkansas sophomore
guard Rotnei Clarke?
Clarke was held in check early before heating up in the second half. He
finished with 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range. But Florida
did a decent job late in the game denying Clarke the basketball and forcing
him into rushed shot attempts.

3. Can Florida get off to a good start on the road and take a tough visiting
crowd at Bud Walton Arena out of the game?
Florida shot just 28.6 percent in the first half but still held a 28-26
halftime lead. But in a hostile environment, Florida executed well late
during a 9-0 run that extended its lead 64-56 with 2:53 left in the game.

Walker scored a career-high 27 points and Florida was able to muscle its way
to a 71-66 win over Arkansas before 14,173 at Bud Walton Arena.

Walker had a terrific night, making 7-of-12 shots from the floor and 5-of-6
3-point attempts while dishing four assists with no turnovers.

"I've just been doing the same thing that I've been focusing on lately, just
getting open looks and focusing on shots that work to my strength and not to
my weakness," Walker said.

Kenny Boynton added 13 points for Florida, and Alex Tyus posted his eighth
career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Florida out-rebounded
Arkansas 41-29 and scored 12 second-half points off 17 offensive rebounds.

"Our frontcourt struggled to score tonight but really did a good job getting
us offensive rebounds," Florida coach Billy Donovan said.

Said Tyus: "We just wanted to come out active, flying around and go after
the ball."

Rotnei Clarke led four Arkansas players in double figures with 17 points.
Freshman Marshawn Powell scored 14 points, center Michael Washington scored
11 points, and point guard Courtney Fortson had 14 points and 11 assists.

Florida (13-5, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) evened its record in SEC play
and will have a happy flight home Friday before facing South Carolina on
Saturday at the O'Connell Center.

"It's huge for us, especially the way things started," Walker said. "But we
can't afford to let up because we know South Carolina is a good team."

Florida led 67-58 when Walker hit his fifth 3-pointer of the game with 2:19

Florida lead to 67-61. Then, a

Walker had a terrific night, making 7-of-12 shots from the floor and 5-of-6
3-point attempts while dishing four assists with no turnovers.
"I've just been doing the same thing that I've been focusing on lately, just
getting open looks and focusing on shots that work to my strength and not to my
weakness," Walker said.
Kenny Boynton added 13 points for Florida , and Alex Tyus posted his eighth
career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Florida out-rebounded
Arkansas 41-29 and scored 12 second-half points off 17 offensive rebounds.
"Our frontcourt struggled to score tonight but really did a good job getting us
offensive rebounds," Florida coach Billy Donovan said.
Said Tyus: "We just wanted to come out active, flying around and go after the
ball."
Rotnei Clarke led four Arkansas players in double figures with 17 points.
Freshman Marshawn Powell scored 14 points, center Michael Washington scored 11
points, and point guard Courtney Fortson had 14 points and 11 assists.
Florida (13-5, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) evened its record in SEC play and
will have a happy flight home Friday before facing South Carolina on Saturday
at the O'Connell Center.
"It's huge for us, especially the way things started," Walker said. "But we
can't afford to let up because we know South Carolina is a good team."
Florida led 67-58 when Walker hit his fifth 3-pointer of the game with 2:19
left. But Arkansas didn't go away. Fortson hit a 3-pointer to cut the Florida
lead to 67-61. Then, after a Walker miss, Powell scored on an inside layup with
1:24 left that dwindled the Florida lead to 67-63.
Tyus was then called for a travel with 46.3 seconds left and one second on the
shot clock. But Powell missed a 3-point attempt, and UF forward Chandler
Parsons grabbed the rebound and was fouled with 30.3 seconds remaining.
Parsons made one of two free throws. After Fortson made one of two free throws
at the other end, Walker made a pair of free throws with 19.3 seconds left to
put the Gators ahead to stay, 70-64.
Walker scored 15 points in the first half, helping Florida overcome a
cold-shooting start to take a 28-26 halftime lead.
"Erv was the first half for us," Boynton said.
Florida extended its lead

Walker helps UF win on road

Florida's Erving Walker drives around Arkansas' Marcus Britt during the
second half in Fayetteville, Ark., on Thursday.

"Erv was the first half for us," Boynton said.

Florida extended its lead to 34-26 early in the second half after Walker and
Boynton hit back-to-back 3-pointers. But Arkansas answered with a 5-0 run,
cutting the lead to 36-31 on a Washington free throw.

Tyus hit a bank shot to put the Gators back ahead 36-31, but the lead was
short-lived. Fortson converted a three-point play, sinking a driving layup
as he was fouled by UF's Ray Shipman to cut the lead to 36-34. Washington
then scored on a putback of a Fortson miss to tie the score at 36.

There you go.  I think we may have an attorney.

And, trust me, we need one.  The university will attack to defend its
perceived intellectual property rights.  All it takes is for us to wait,
hoping, long enough.  It's about all they own, other than the land and
buildings, which are substantial, but, presumably not for sale.  They have
every reason to acquire more.

I have a pretty nice cease and desist letter re: tradde names that we can press

Recall, another option is to license the use of the mark. That retains the
property rights, and allows its use by the UAA without risking abandonment of

It was an honest but regretable mistake. I have complete respect for the
rules of the lists and make constant efforts to comply.

I am one of the few members of the lists who posts on all of them frequently
and value them all. What complicates the management of my posts is that I
have valued friendships with members of the lists who also write me
privately. It's sometimes hard to tell where a reply is going. I will
cintunue to make all efforts not to violate the rules of the lists again.
Be assured it was not intentional.

I think you will like the article I just posted on THFGT even if it does
