Personally, I'm happy. He was an embarrassment on the sidelines and our
offense reflected it. I was very disappointed in the "pro-style" offense
that he brought, although I will admit that maybe our personnel wasn't big
or strong enough to run it. Meyer said he wanted the fastest team, and that
what we are. Small, but quick.

Ok, we said two years to rebuild. Does this set us back further? How long

RE: [gatortalk] is Charlie Weis gone?????

2011-12-09 Thread Stephen Manuel
After Charlie Weis and Urban Meyer, I'm more cynical than I've ever been
about college coaches. I think Kerwin Bell would be the best choice right
now for UF, we need someone who loves UF and that we can trust for more than
a couple of weeks...

Charlie Weis less than 2 weeks ago said was going to be around for a long
time, he came to UF to coach with his son, the horse farms in Ocala, and the
special needs facilities for his daughter, how could you not buy into that,
I must be a sucker, because in 2 weeks he threw all that out the window.

I am tired of people like Weis and Meyer, who IMO were lying to our
faces...give me Kerwin or someone else who wants to be a UF. I think UF fans
collectively need something we can buy into and believe..the last year or
two has certainly not been that...

league championships.

In his first year at Florida, guided 2009 John Mackey Award winner Aaron
Hernandez, who became the first Gator and first player from the SEC to receive
the honor bestowed to the nation's top tight end. Hernandez's 68 receptions in
2009 ranked first among the nation's tight ends and set a new UF single-season
record for tight ends.

During his 11-year tenure at Wisconsin, mentored 1999 Heisman Trophy winner Ron
Dayne, 2001 NFL first-round draft choice Michael Bennett, 2001 Big Ten Freshman
of the Year Anthony Davis and 2006 Capital One Bowl Most Valuable Player Brian
Calhoun.

In his first year as offensive coordinator in 1999, the Badgers set a school
record and finished 10th nationally in scoring. The next season, Bennett was
the third-leading rusher in Division I-A and had a school-record six 200-yard
passing games.

Coached Wisconsin in the 2006 Capital One Bowl, which the Badgers captured with
a 24-10 win over No. 7 Auburn.
In 2004, White was named the AFCA Division I Assistant Coach of the Year while
at Wisconsin.
In 2001, UW quarterbacks Brooks Bollinger and Jim Sorgi each threw for more
than 1,000 yards, while Davis was fifth in the nation in rushing and wide
receiver Lee Evans set the Big Ten record for receiving yards in a season.

During each of his first eight years, White helped the Badgers produce a
1,000-yard rusher.
He served as the running backs' coach during the Badgers' 1998 Big Ten
championship season and was the offensive coordinator the next year when UW
repeated as Big Ten champions.

Was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers' coach for UNLV in 1994

Personally, I'm happy. He was an embarrassment on the sidelines and our
offense reflected it. I was very disappointed in the "pro-style" offense
that he brought, although I will admit that maybe our personnel wasn't big
or strong enough to run it. Meyer said he wanted the fastest team, and that
what we are. Small, but quick.

Ok, we said two years to rebuild. Does this set us back further? How long

2011-12-09 Thread Rob Alexander
Well said, Stephen! That sums up my feelings exactly. I'm not really sorry to
see Charlie go, but I'm really ticked off about the lies. It's insulting for
him to say those things, then bolt for the first offer he gets.

I don't buy what our coaches say about our players. The country is full of
coaches who came into programs and helped their kids play above their potential
in the first year. Weiss came in and our kids played below theirs. Since we
can't have a real Gator as HC, it would be nice to have one as OC, so at least
someone there actually cares about the Gators (as opposed to caring about
whatever team they're coaching this week).

Amen, Stephen. The players AND the fans needs someone we can believe in. We
need one of our homeboys to be there representing us.

After Charlie Weis and Urban Meyer, I'm more cynical than I've ever been
about college coaches. I think Kerwin Bell would be the best choice right now
for UF, we need someone who loves UF and that we can trust for more than a
couple of weeks...

Charlie Weis less than 2 weeks ago said was going to be around for a long
time, he came to UF to coach with his son, the horse farms in Ocala, and the
special needs facilities for his daughter, how could you not buy into that, I
must be a sucker, because in 2 weeks he threw all that out the window.

I am tired of people like Weis and Meyer, who IMO were lying to our
faces...give me Kerwin or someone else who wants to be a UF. I think UF fans
collectively need something we can buy into and believe..the last year or two
has certainly not been that...

Personally, I'm happy. He was an embarrassment on the sidelines and our
offense reflected it. I was very disappointed in the "pro-style" offense that
he brought, although I will admit that maybe our personnel wasn't big or strong
enough to run it. Meyer said he wanted the fastest team, and that what we are.
Small, but quick.

Ok, we said two years to rebuild. Does this set us back further? How long did
it take Bama? Five years?

I haven't decided if I'm happy or sad about this. I don't like so many
changes happening when we REALLY need super recruiting now more than ever.
