I think Meyer is saying that unless he is 100% involved, the intensity
and attention to detail are missing. He will now have to throw his
health issues to the wind to right the program, because no one else on
the staff has the ability to get the job done. He will toss the Paxil
and Ativan and lay it on the line: spitting blood and screaming,
motivating like no other, and kicking arse when needed. I expect a
dramatic turnaround. Working out a few small but critical details could
suddenly result in putting up 40+ points per game and that would also
get the D to play up to their potential as they did earlier in the
season. Resistance is futile. The dawgs will rue the day. I smell 50
coming and 3 long timeouts in the last minute to rub it in again. How's
that?

It has been kinda quiet due to the off week, so lets get it started!!!

I don't buy into this "its the practice" excuse. Surely our highly paid
and successful coaches could tell prior to game 7 and three consecutive
losses that our practices were not getting it done... Why was nothing
done prior to that, or was there? If something was done, why has it not
made a difference? Are we to believe that it took them this long to
figure out that the practices were lacking?

C'mon! That's weak...

2010-10-28 Thread Scott Lucas
I think you may be correct... this seems to be much more of a chemistry thing,
and you may have nailed the causes.  I also understand that he needs to say
something, and he certainly knows how to work the media.  But, if it was such
an obvious fix, why wait so long and do we really think he did wait so long?
I'm sure he saw this weeks ago, and if it could be fixed he would have started
fixing it weeks ago.

I think the past 2 weeks will serve more for 1. Getting healthy and 2. a team
meeting and a heart to heart where everyone wants to be a Gator.

To put all our problems on bad practices after UM has been quoted as saying we
have had good practices is week.  This is probably his snowstorm and we have
serious internal problems which Ken eluded to.  I am hoping that there was a
little family bonding the past 2 weeks.

Or he could be saying something to just say something because fans and media
need to here SOMETHING.  Urban has always kept things close to the vest and I
have never put much stock into what he says, but as Steve said a few weeks
back,
the urgency in practices has been missing, maybe this is to what he is
referring.

I still stand by my opinion that we are not that bad.  We are inconsistent and
have made very bad plays at very bad times.  I think the team chemistry is a
huge issue, think about this sequence:
- having highly touted freshman come in being cocky
>- having the senior offensive leader crack back at them through the media
>- senior leader then goes out and lays the biggest egg ever
>- no playmakers, but a lot of young guys on the sideline that show glimpses of
>brilliance (and inexperience) when they get in the game
>- 3 straight losses
What I hoped happened over the off week was that players and coaches were able
to decompress and everyone realize what needs to be done to win.

Thinking that Urban and staff haven't seen some specific areas of improvement,
doesn't give him much credit. Did he suddenly forget everything that has been
successful in the past?  Or is it that his system can only be successful with
great players?

Sounds good to me... but I can't believe he didn't see this til a 3 game losing
streak.  Is he that out of touch with the practices.  That's the part I am
having a problem with...

However, I love your end result!
