Take the case of the rather colourful singer Sir Elton John. His decision to get 'married' on the very first week that civil unions were legalised between same sex partners in England is difficult to fathom. Without even getting into the merits of the debate as to whether marriage can only be called so if it is between heterosexuals, the need for a gay couple to be legally recognised as a couple seems to undermine what it is to be gay in the first place. Apart from a sexual preference, being gay did indicate certain lifestyle choices, and more power to that. So, why, and when, did gay people feel the need to conform, to be more heterosexual in the way they live their lives? the legal piece of paper gives gay couples certain rights, especially inheritance and property rights, surely a simple, yet well-crafted will could do the same. As for children, that many gay people desire to have, again a detailed legal document could ensure that a surrogate child or children of such an union is suitably protected. For years gays have lobbied against governmental interference in what they did in their bedrooms. And rightly so. Yet just a few years down the road, the same community is now demanding that the very same government re-enter their bedrooms to sanction what they do there. As some commentators are saying, the true happiness that these unions are likely to bring is not to those who are getting married but to the divorce lawyers who so far depended only on heterosexual couples to make a profitable livelihood. Calculate the number of hours you spend with your family. Now do the same for your friends. And then do for your place of work. Who won? ... Well... if that be the case, wouldn't one be surprised if sometimes, our primal instincts takes the better of us... and we fall for the guy next cubicle... (or atleast in the same building) ... Work has no place for emotions, though that definition is changing. I read sometime back that MNCs are gradually encouraging relationships at work. Yes the devastating effects to any break-up in the same could be tumultous, but then again, what can you do ? Its like the second home... and you are human right ... So what do you do when you realise that you have fallen in love with someone you normally share the latest stock prices, market valuation of assets or boss's eccentric behavioural traits ... and then one day, you think that his dimples are too cute, smile is too sexy, shoulders are too broad, and the buldge .. well ... neway ... And then you wonder how to proceed? If you are daring enough to do so ... and so you gradually tend to find excuses to spend a little more time with him, wonder how to strike a conversation, how to know a little more about him .. so gradually ask everyone around in a cautious manner .. in a round-about manner so that none begins to suspect.. pray that in the next team meeting he takes the seat next to you ... try to catch him at lunch... and offer him a ride home or visa-versa..otherwise hope for a drink or bite after work .. and endless fantasies after that ... and life goes on ... Sometimes you happen to put the brakes ... especially when you find that he is married / engaged / or has a girlfriend / or sometimes because of the infamous case of another colleague (female) falling for him and likewise ... and then you just wish that let there be a moment of weakness where the two of you ... and fantasies continue to grow ... But what if you fall in love with him .. a crush or an infatuation too hard to get over .. and you know you have to walk up to him the very next day and ask for the review report .. and look at his checked blue and white shirt .. his neatly gelled hair... his shaven yet rough cheeks.. his lips .. his eyes gives you a tired and diplomatic look.. and you wish that for once there wouldnt be these unspoken, unseen, yet so strong, felt walls between the two of you ... the walls between two cubicles... the walls of corporate policies... social status... growth potential... religious norms... Once upon a time ... There was a rich King who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to the finest of delicacies. He gave her nothing but the best. He also loved the 3rd wife very much and was always showing her off to neighboring kingdoms. However, he feared that one day she would leave him for another. He also loved his 2nd wife. She was his confidante and was always kind, considerate and patient with him. Whenever the King faced a problem, he could confide in her to help him get through the difficult times. The King's 1st wife was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and kingdom. However, he did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her. One day, the King fell ill and he knew his time was short. He thought of his luxurious life and pondered, "I now have 4 wives with me, but when I die, I'll be all alone. Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I have loved you the most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" Hi Guys, American guy here, currently visiting the city and staying Andheri West. I am wondering if anyone can help me out with the following information: suggestions on gay themed Indian literature (like The Boyfriend) and where I might purchase it? any "happening" spots in in Andheri West? I was in a pub the other evening and it gave off a certain vibe. Could Shankari's on the road to 7 Bungalows from JVPD bus stand be a gay meeting place? I agree with Aditya 100%. First of all the pix were so small. 2nd, He was just a normal looking guy, a guy next door type. Infact I see many guys better than him, in looks, in physique, daily around me, on the way, in my office, in my canteen, in malls. I mean to say, I also did not find him a Eye Candy, or hot. BUT last thing to say, HOTNESS, BEAUTY, and other of such kind of things depends who is watching him. I am sure, Mayawati also would be beautiful and charming for someone. Abhay.
