g_b Bombay Dost Sunday High - 11 Oct '09 -- Screenings

This Sunday, come for screenings of clippings of the celebrations post the
Delhi HC judgment on IPC Section 377 (around 45 minutes) and Queer Azaadi
March Mumbai TV coverage (around 20 minutes). But before that we'll play the
NDTV 24x7 two-part feature: "Married in Public, Gay in Private" (around 45
minutes)
We will also keep the Bombay Dost album of press clippings on significant
gay events in 2009 (to date) on view.

*
Time:* 5.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

*Venue:* The Humsafar Trust's Drop-in Centre, 4th floor, Municipal Transit
Building (Vakola Municipal Market Building), Near Raheja Point and Vakola
Masjid, Santacruz (East), Mumbai.

*Getting there:* It's approximately minimum fare by auto-rickshaw from
Santacruz station (East). You could also take routes 311 or 313. These
routes also operate from Kurla (West) station.

his big day when he fasts for his partner's well being! Many gays in
Ahmedabad are quietly readying themselves for a penance usually done by a
wife for her husband - Karva Chauth. Just that the prayers here will deviate
a bit to ask God to make them a woman in the next life! 

While most are going to make it a no-food affair, some have decided to
follow the traditional `nirjal' (without water) fast to pray for the long
lives of their boyfriends.

about it just like women. Says Dipak, a 29-year-old engineer, "I am going to
fast for my boyfriend's long life. Although I will not be applying henna on
my hands, I will eat only after I see his face against the moon.'' 

With many of them hiding their true identities from the family, they are
unable to follow the tradition completely. 

Jatin, who wants to do all the rituals, rues the fact that unlike women, who
get a `sargi', a platter of eatables and a few gifts from a mother-in-law,
