I have a suggestion by the wiki-proposal.

I read
 Reliance on Salaried Developers
  ...
Ensuring the long term stability of OpenOffice.org is a major
reason for establishing the project at Apache.

Unless really relevant, I would suggest to leave that last sentence out. I
guess no need to explain why ;-)

Cor: I believe that you would need a better understanding of Apache,
or that you *do* need to explain why that sentence should be omitted.

Apologies. Was too obvious for me.
I read the sentence as arguing that TDF would not be a long term stable
solution. And since there still are some attempts to build bridges,
offensive suggestions have no place.
On the other side: I have not a single reason to suggest that the ASF is
not long term stable.

Decades of Life (was: OpenOffice.org Apache Incubator Proposal)

or that you *do* need to explain why that sentence should be omitted.

Let me explain a bit... For many years now, I've been interested in
continuing to serve on Apache's Board of Directors. One of the primary
reasons that I've stated, is an interest in seeing the Apache Software
Foundation be able to continue for a LONG time. That I want to do
whatever possible to ensure that the Foundation is set up, structured,
and all the gaps filled in, to see us be able to care for our
projects. And one of the key points that I always stress, that I
really don't think most people consider is this:

I want to see the Apache Software Foundation last for the next FIFTY
YEARS. I'm not talking just the next boom bust cycle of the
Internet. I'm not talking oh, my kids will grow up and know what I
did. ... I'm talking *grandkids* knowing about our work here. I'm
talking about a Foundation that outlasts multi-billion dollar
companies. Recall that the largest software companies (Apple,
Microsoft, Google, Oracle, etc) are less than 40 years old. (IBM is
the exception, tho I'd say their current cycle of relevance is less
than 40)

IOW, what can we do, as a Foundation, to outlast powerhouses like
Microsoft and Apple?

So to get back to your recommendation to omit that sentence. I say
that you just don't understand. My hope is that projects coming to
Apache will be designed to last for DECADES. That is a very attractive
proposition, and I see no fault in a proposal that is looking to do
exactly that.

Cheers,
