RE: DISCUSS: Trafodion for TLP

2016-06-12 Thread Roberta Marton
We have completed 2 releases and have a patch release under vote.

For release 1.3.0, I was the release manager:

We did 5 RC's and documentation was written to help future release
managers (https://cwiki.
apache.org/confluence/display/TRAFODION/Create+Release )

For release 2.0.0, Steve Varnau was the release manager:

We did 3 RC's, and the document (above) was updated to add binary support

For patch release 2.0.1, current being voted upon:

   We have 1 RC

A lot of issues we had to deal with was related to getting copyrights,
licenses, etc. all set up to meet Apache standards. These should be
addressed. To make sure future releases don't create copyright or licensing
issues, we added automated checks and balances in our release process; for
example, we run RAT reports during our Jenkins testing.

I'm curious to know how many RC were required to produce each of these
releases. Can you please provide those stats?

Thanks,
Roman.

Re: DISCUSS: Trafodion for TLP

2016-06-08 Thread John D. Ament
I think my concern is around community growth based on what's being
described. I can understand the company focusing on this technology, but
we want a diverse community. If there are any up coming committers who are
not company employees that would be great to see. Otherwise there's high
reliance on salaried employees still.

RE: DISCUSS: Trafodion for TLP

2016-06-08 Thread Dave Birdsall
That is close. When entering incubation, all nine of the original Trafodion
committers were HP employees. Of those, four decamped to Esgyn. Five
remained at HP or found other affiliations but have largely been inactive.
More Esgyn committers have been added since.

One non-Esgyn committer, Pierre Smits, has been added since entering
incubation.
