Re: [gentoo-amd64] genkernel and ondemand power govenor
On 1/24/06, Jamie [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I currently have a genkernel created kernel and it lacks the ondemand power govenor. Is there any way to get genkernel to include this or do I have to compile a new kernel manually to get the ondemand scaler? Cheers Jamie Hi Jamie, I just wake up so maybe I will say something not related, just hit me if I'm wrong. try genkernel --menuconfig --no-clean all the --menuconfig parameter allows you to set up the kernel as you wish with the classical menuconfig text interface. The --no-clean just keeps your current config. have a look here for more info - http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/genkernel.xml cheers -- gentoo-amd64@gentoo.org mailing list -- Jordi Molina Casas (warp3r) mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] www: www.warp3r.com If you're still sending mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED], please update your address book, my current email is [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- gentoo-amd64@gentoo.org mailing list
Re: [gentoo-amd64] SATA2 Recommendations

I'm also hoping to use RAID-1 over dual SATA2 drives. In researching gentoo and SATA2, I've come across numerous problems that people are experiencing with the 2005.1-r1live-cd install and the sata_nv driver and SATA in general. Has this been fixed? Does anyone have any advice for me? Has anyone successfully installed on SATA2 drives running with an nforce4 chipset mobo? If they haven't, were they able to get SATA2 drives running as SATA1? Or at least SATA1 from a fresh install of the 2005.1-r1 AMD64 livecd? I noticed a lot of problems with the ASUS A8N-VM/CSM which is why I'm investigatin the A8NE. If this has already been discussed, I apologize in advance... I'm new to the list and couldn't find what I was looking for in the archives. Any help or advice would be appreciated. -- gentoo-amd64@gentoo.org mailing list hello, I installed gentoo from another livecd and then compiled the kernel and the initrd image to support sata_nv. It boots fine for me. Forget about using the nvraid, is not hardware, so if you need it, go sw raid or buy a decent RAID card. cheers -- Jordi Molina Casas (warp3r) mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] www: www.warp3r.com If you're still sending mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED], please update your address book, my current email is [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- gentoo-amd64@gentoo.org mailing list
Re: [gentoo-amd64] Cedega running programs on fat32 partition
Hi Brett, Normally, as said by transgaming support and in the FAQs for cedega, you can have issues running games from a non ext/reiserfs partition. I can tell you from my experience that most of the games fails to run in cedega when running them from a fat32/ntfs volume. What I do now is run only in windows (so have only installed in fat32/ntfs) the games that can only run in windows (luckily i have only one: Lineage2) and leave the rest installed through cedega. Is easier for me and I know I only need windows for one thing. Hope it helps Jordi On 1/12/06, Brett Johnson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, Is anyone running cedega 5.0 and storing programs on a fat32 partition in a 64 bit environment? I have it working fine on my Pentium-M laptop with fat32, but for some reason I can not seem to get it working on my amd64 box. Both systems are running 2.6.14-r6 gentoo sources and are configured with similar options as it pertains to the filesystems etc. Every time I try to execute a win32 binary on the fat32 filesystem I get cannot find whatever.exe. I have noticed if I put the binary in the root of the fat32 filesystem, I can execute them, but for some reason cedega can not see any files located in a folder under the root fat32 system. When trying to install new programs to the fat32 system, the initial file copy starts, but when it goes to verify the files, it can not access them. If I try to install and/or run programs on a reiserfs file system, everything works fine. Here is the mounted filesystem info: /dev/sdb2 on /usr/local/games type vfat (rw,noatime,gid=100,umask=) And the output from ls: total 275904 ... -rwxrwxrwx 1 root users 4341810 Dec 13 22:17 WoW.exe ... And when I try to run the program: [EMAIL PROTECTED] /usr/local/games/WoW $ cedega WoW.exe /home/brett/.cedega/.winex_ver/winex-5.0.3/winex/bin/wine: cannot find 'WoW.exe' Thanks, Brett -- gentoo-amd64@gentoo.org mailing list -- Jordi Molina Casas (warp3r) mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] www: www.warp3r.com If you're still sending mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED], please update your address book, my current email is [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- gentoo-amd64@gentoo.org mailing list
