There is also gmplayer, and I believe gmplayer-bin comes with the
mplayer-bin package.

sure, I use kmplayer

the trick is, if you have mplayer (64 bit) also installed, then you need to 
make a symbolic link named mplayer earlier in your path so that it points to 
mplayer-bin instead.

The frontends, kmplayer for example, calls mplayer.  Since I have linked 
mplayer-bin to it, mplayer-bin is called ... and its all good ...

ex: ln -s /usr/bin/mlayer-bin /usr/local/bin/mplayer

I tried to emerge mplayer-bin because I need to watch some windows
videos... The format is the wmf and the codec the dmo (wmv9dmo family).
I use emerge and the win32codec are installed too!
Has someone saw a video in a 64bit gentoo box?

Some codecs are 32bits only, so you shoud try something else:
