Not with the capture card that he has. MythTV requries 2 things to work properly, QT ALSA. If ALSA is configured correctly, then he shouldn't have any problems. I don't have thing that i can help you, but just make sure that alsa is working by default( maybe ax the OSS) from the kernel and try again. Thank you Carl for getting back to me. I ended up getting the 250 to work. It was an adventure to say the least. Being i'm running the 2.6 kernel. Does anyone know of a way to check for information pumped out of syslog? like in var or something. I need help restarting a program that throws lots of errors to syslog's virtual terminal. I've been scouring the forums for useful informaiton on getting this card to work, but i have no had no luck. it also doesn't help that i can't compile ivtv with the 2.6.1 kernel. [gentoo-user] USB Mouse slowness
Does anyone have or has had a problem with using a USB mouse, and when moving the physcial mouse, the pointer on the screen moves in quick little spurts, or not at all? Also, the button responce is gone as well? Yes this is a wireless mouse, and yes the batteries are charged ( :) ). This problem didn't exist when i was using the same mouse as a ps/2 mouse. I had the biggest problem with this for a long time. I'm not sure of the solution, but i tried compiling it from source( which failed). And when i went back to the supplied binary, it worked. It was also the most recent version of OO that i retested and got sucess. So you might wanna update if you are behind. hope this helps. b. Is anyone having problems with the new portage?? Like emerge saying it is running outta space. And emerge not being able to unzip files anymore. I am having some problems compiling quanta from cvs. And in the kde crash backtrace it says that its realated to libpthread. How do i go about updating( or downgrading) libpthread?? i can't seem to find anything associated with it in qpkg( unless i'm searching with it wrong which is extremely possible ;) ). Thanks for the responce Tom; however this is a long standing problem. Since i put in a new harddrive and rebuilt gentoo. I didn't have this problem before( on the old harddrive) and i find it quite annoying now. Could it maybe be that my account is in a group that somehow writes over being in the portage group? Or maybe i just belong to too many groups. Could some people please send me their output for groups so i have an idea of where mine should be??? hi again, another odd question from an install that i thought was flawless, but wasn't. During boot i get the error saying that there is no /dev/SWAP. So in trying to do a MAKEDEV, the computer complaines that because i'm using devfs that i can't use MAKEDEV. Hey all, got an unusual problem, my start up scripts run twice. During bootup it will start loading the other mounts, swap, kernel modules, and then it just kinda restart from there( remounting, reloading kernel modules) and then follows through with the rest of scripts. I have rebuilt all the dependencies for transcode, and the problem still exists. Just a side note, this problem only occurs when one chooses divx, not ffmpeg or anything like that. OK, i'm having a small problem here with a new install of OpenOffice-bin. root has no problems using ooffice, (as root) suing into my user account, and running ooffice like this, there are no problems. HOWEVER( who didn't see this coming??) if i try to start the program, straight from the user account, it aborts?? Hey all, i just purchased a new hard drive( one of those bad boys with 8MB of cache) and i should be getting it later in the week. I'm going to do a fresh install of gentoo, and i want to know if there is anyway to keep my current config, so that all i have to do is copy the file to the new instalation, and type emerge world and walk away. One more side note, how do i do the above but w/ gcc3.3. I think that in the rebuilding of the system, it would be a perfect time to try out gcc3.3. [gentoo-user] openoffice 1.1 beta took a dive
My OpenOffice 1.1 beta took a dive tonight. Tried to open up a rtf, and it returned an error. So, i started to screw with it( yeah, i know i'm brilliant ;) ). Anyway, i decided to try and remove the .OpenOffice directory, in hopes that it would reset itself. Tried to start it agian, and it complied about misconfigurations in .sver??. SO i axed that file as well. I'm sorry if some people might find this too easy of a question, but I've emerged openssh, but when i try to start sshd, i keep getting errors about host keys. I've looked through the man pages concerning ssh-keygen. But nothing there points directly too host keys.
