What if you change your dpi setting and leave alone your font size? Ack! Of course. I can't believe I didn't think of this. But, the problem was actually happening when I switched from dual-headed mode to just a single monitor. I thought it was when I was rebooting, but I think that was a coincidence. I have now edited both my XF86Config files (for merged and normal) and set the DisplaySize in there. Everything looks great. [gentoo-user] galeon font-size weirdness
Well, I finally decided to post this problem (even though it makes it sound like I'm crazy). Here's the deal. A few weeks/months ago after doing loads of emerges, I noticed that when I started galeon that all web pages had wicked tiny text. To fix it, I just went into Settings-Preferences-Rendering-Fonts/Colors and changed the Min. Size from 14 (or so) to 29. That made everything look normal. Now.. here's the weird thing. If I log out of X and log back in and start galeon, my friggin' text is gigantic. Then I have to go back into Fonts and change the min. size back to 14 and it looks normal (normal, that is, until I log out of X and back in again). I'm sure it's something silly but I can't peg it. If I log out of X and log back in and start galeon, my friggin' text is gigantic. What if you change your dpi setting and leave alone your font size? This if from my XF86Config: Section Monitor Identifier Monitor0 HorizSync 30-77 VertRefresh 47-104 Option DPMS DisplaySize 304 228 EndSection The interesting part is DisplaySize Xmm Ymm. My screen is setup at 1152x864 so: 1152 * 25.4 / 304 = ~96 dpi 864 * 25.4 / 228 = ~96 dpi If you want to know the Xmm and Ymm values for your XF86Config do: x-res * 25.4 / 96 = Xmm y-res * 25.4 / 96 = Ymm HTH, Norberto you can also do startx -- -dpi 96 (no quotes, of course) I started having the same problem after adding an Nvidia Geforce 4 to my running machine and installing the unmasked drivers. I used the above command to start X until I emerged the 4191 masked drivers and the problem went away. YMMV, of course but maybe this will help you. -- Regards, Ernie 100% Microsoft and Intel free -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
